  1. Yes, I believe all Princess ships are now using Starlink. I have used Google Voice on at least 2 or 3 ships, maybe more and it worked great! I even received a call on one cruise. Absolutely it does require that you purchase the internet plan/MedallionNet. I don't remember about airplane mode, on or off. I have used Google Voice both before and with Starlink. It did not seem to make a significant difference with Google Voice quality which internet platform. I used it with my iPad and ear buds as sound volume is not great on an iPad without earbuds. IMO, Google Voice is amazing.
  2. We may all being experiencing the same issue. The last few times I thought to try "live chat" all it did was count down from 60 or 70 something to 1 and no one ever was on the other end. Just type yes if you are still there. I have given up and won't bother to call Princess or try "live chat" any more. A lot of information can be gotten here on CC and even on other social media sites. What I can not figure out on-line myself I will now contact my travel agent. I do not love the "new" Princess. YMMV. Please no flaming.

  5. AAAAAAAAAAmazing Photos. Thank you! I am booked in December for this "cruise by" in Antarctica on the Sapphire. This thread has been great to get me excited and educated. I would like to ask a question if I may. In your opinion where are the best places around the ship for the best viewing. Obviously you are finding some great views. My balcony cabin is on Caribe/Deck 10 a little bit aft of mid ship, starboard side. Any secrets you can share? I have currently being shipped to me a Lands' End Hooded Down Wanderweight Ultralight Packable Jacket. I am hoping this is a wise choice to hopefully keep me from freezing. What are people doing to keep warm?

  7. So sorry to hear this has happened to your parents. I hope it all works out in the end. This is a perfect example of why we the cruiser/consumer need to be aware of this promotion and we should think very seriously before buying into it. If it were not for CC I likely would never have known about this, though my skeptical self would have been very leary if I had such an offer made to me.

  10. Hi, I think your plan seems logical. I hope you have proof of what you have booked and paid for. Be sure to devise a way to monitor refunds as they come in to be sure ALL is refunded that should be.

  12. Hi there :-) I had 1 experience with them that was not so great. I was part of a group booking during my recent World Cruise. There was something I particularly wanted in the itinerary and the group leader said the itinerary is set. I soon after became aware of another group forming with another private tour operator that included what I wanted to see in the itinerary.and decided to go with that group. I contacted Shore Excursion Group myself to request to cancel and receive a refund. This was months in advance of the tour date. They wanted to keep about half of my payment (which we were required to pay in full at booking) and refund me the remainder. I told them just leave me in the group then. A while later I decided to ask the group leader if she perhaps had any waitlist requests to join the tour (It was filled up quite fast) that I wanted to go with the other group. Thankfully, the group leader was able to work it out and I did receive a full refund. Since I did not participate in their tour, I can't say anything about the tour itself. What tour is it you are looking at?

  14. I was on Discovery 10-21 to 10-28. On a seaday we had the usual Pub lunch. It was held in one of the MDRs, not one of the smaller venues. It was kind of nice not to have wait in the long line out the door and down the hallway. Food seemed to be the same except the bread and butter pudding was not prepared the same.
  15. I have booked a cruise quite far out, Apr 2025. I like to have DMW reservaions for the entire cruise. I attempted to set up DMW for this cruise to find that there is no option for the big MDR International dining room in the aft on Sapphire Princess. All 4 other mid ship MDRs appear fully open for reservations. I called Princess/Off shore call center and got no where. Definitely a language barrier. She had no idea what I was asking. She basically said, those are ALL your choices, but you can check again once on board. I have found that it is useless to call Princess since the change to Off shore call center. I miss the Santa Clarita people, especially the old timers. So, my question is ... Other than being so far out why might the option for the big MDR International dining room not be available? Has anyone encountered something like this? I am guessing it is like just an oversight, that the person doing the programming has no clue about MDRs on a ship. Lastly, any idea how to find out what the real situation might be.
  16. I booked a cruise for Apr 2025 Saturday and turned it over to my travel agent this morning. While I was away from home this afternoon I had a voicemail from a very british sounding gentleman saying he is my new Princess CVP. He seemed to know a bit about my past cruises, which is eerie. But the funny thing is that he thought I was cruising tomorrow and wished me bon voyage. He said was sorry for calling when I might be busy. He would like me to call him when I get back. I have no cruises booked until the one I booked for Apr 2025. I have heard of these calls on this board, but not very much. Is it best to just ignore them? I also am aware of Princess contracting with O.N.E. to make "promotional" sales calls. I do not think this was O.N.E. which I know to ignore.
  17. That there is no 50% off option prior to boarding was the basis for my oroginal post. You can get help from the internet cafe manager, guest services or I think even the medallion people to get signed up once on board. You will be preesnted a screen with the price as you sign up. It should recognize your status and be 50% off.
  18. Hmmmmm, I am surprised no one has answered. The coffee place on the Island is Good Spirits At Sea on deck 5 in Piazza. I understand specialty coffee is also available in the area outside buffet as well
  19. We had Cole for the first at least half of the World Cruise on the Island this year. Cole is young and from New Zealand. He was a dancer with the Princess dance troupe before moving on to CD. IMO He is a good CD and quite visible. I doubt you will be disappointed.
