  1. It’s not far at all from EWR to Broadway. Stay in Secaucus. Get the NJT train into NY Penn Station from Seacacus Junction. It takes less than an hour. Then it’s a quick walk up 7th Ave to your theater. Easy peasy.
  2. Unless you have a companion who can assist you, it will be very difficult on any RC.
  3. Doubletree Long Island City Queens shows $185 for the night. If you are leaving from Manhattan Cruise Terminal this is a good property and location.
  4. Oh darn. They used to allow others to refer you so you can both get a credit from Regent. I guess they disallowed that. What I can say, is whomever you choose make sure your TA gives you extra perks.
  5. You don’t state your budget but since you have time to search for a hotel I would try to find a place walkable to the waterfront in Jersey City NJ. This way you can walk around look at the NYC skyline from there. If the hotel has an indoor pool even better. You’ll need at least a suite that sleeps 6 if not 2 rooms. I would book the Dial 7 because you want a vehicle to hold 6 pax and luggage. You can always use Uber or Lyft as a backup.
  6. Hi Roz thanks for your report. I’m waiting for your comparisons. Seems like you had a good trip up to the flight home. Sorry about the terrible flight home. Does the special EU regulations cover this since the flight originated in the EU?
  7. I’m glad you stayed there and can attest that it was good. OP, either LGA or JFK is best for Brooklyn. Queens is right next to Brooklyn. No bridges or tunnels or State Lines to cross. If you wanted to sight see in Manhattan then a Manhattan hotel would make sense.
  8. Not sure if mid-twenty year olds would appreciate the entertainment. And as far as DJ . . . lol did he play hip hop? Because that’s what kids like to dance to. 🤣
  9. There really isn’t much to do once you’re back on the ship besides sit in the lounge and drink. The ship is just a place to rest until the next day. Dinners are usually 2 hour affairs and then, back to the lounge for more drinking. Lol
  10. Bravo and Thank you! Your photos are wonderful. I’m very impressed with all the solo pre and post cruise you did also.
  11. Omg. It’s 2024! I don’t agree. Most NYC restaurants are so noisy it doesn’t matter.
  12. My concern is that it might be too frigid for the little ones walking around in Feb. The buildings block the sun and there are wind tunnels between the buildings. A hotel near Times Square would probably be the best bet. You could take kids to see all the lights around 5:00 it gets dark. Plenty of kid friendly places to eat. If it’s nice enough out you can walk to Bryant Park. Not sure the carousel will be running.
  13. Take the car service and relax. There is no other easy way.
  14. Hi. I’m going to give slightly different advice. Agreed the only hotel near JFK to stay is TWA. but that is not cheap. You have to get to Bayonne the next morning anyway. 8:00 pm is not THAT late. You need to crunch the numbers. It might be the same $$$$ to Uber or Lyft directly to a Holiday Inn Express or similar in Jersey City. Then you’ll wake up close to port and a short Uber ride to the Cruise Terminal.
  15. It there anything in particular you want to see or do while in NYC? We can direct you to which neighborhood to look at.
  16. Aren’t Residence Inns equipped with kitchenettes? Probably certain floors have these types of rooms but I don’t know for sure.
  17. @George and Family sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately you would have the same outcome if you used another cruise line. I notice that Amawaterways continued their cruises to Egypt also. I have read that trips to ISRAEL On United and Et Al are not canceled and no refunds or credits given. The only solution is Cancel For Any Reason insurance.
  18. It will probably be a van unless you qualify for individual transportation. Be prepared to wait for others. Lol
  19. DH can’t answer the door for 1 minute to let them in if they take an Uber?
  20. It’s always difficult to figure out if some pax are simply uncomfortable speaking to strangers, or are snobby and don’t want to bother being polite. I’ve encountered both. Lol.
  21. @Steerpike58 thanks for reporting back. I think the smallness of the river ships make it impossible to find alone space. On the huge ocean liners it’s easy to remain anonymous. Not so on River Cruises. My advice to those who aren’t keen on talking to strangers is to travel with friends. This way you have your table of four.
  22. @Host Jazzbeau did you post your review for your Duoro cruise yet? I missed it.
  23. Personally I’d do Paris independently. It’s easy to do. It’s also easy to get to the ship in Paris independently.
  24. I recommend Avalon. Best value for the level of service and tours. Look at the number of passengers on the ship. That’s important.
  25. Check the total square footage of the cabins. Lots of times they include the square footage of the balcony included in the total room square footage. I’ve tried all room categories. The only advantage of a true balcony vs the panoramic French balcony is if one member of the party wants to be outside and the other wants to sleep on the bed in darkness. That never happened to us.
