  1. I believe the balconies were sold out on my 4/29 sailing. We were on Deck 16....walk out of the cabin and you're in the lounge! I liked the location so much I booked an interior on the same deck for May 2024. The price differential for the balcony isn't worth it to me....unless the price was really right. IMHO....interior YC cabins are the best bargain at sea!
  2. Have a great trip! We were in an interior a few weeks ago. For us, the storage was more than adequate, but we travel light (one carry on each). If you need "multiple daily outfits with co-ordinating accessories" you might want to cut back a bit. One thing about the interior....when you leave your cabin there's a "mini elevator...just for the YC". You'll be upstairs, at the pool deck, in less than a minute. We did not miss having a balcony...not at all. They have breakfast and lunch buffets on the pool deck...freshly grilled dishes brought right to your table. After doing YC once....I'll always do YC!
  3. There comes a point in everyone's life where they appreciate the value of a prune!
  4. Thanks for the honest review. I'm booked for the 9/3 Escape...and have been toying with "if I should bid on the Haven". We recently got off the MSC Meraviglia Yacht Club (I only booked YC due to DH's health) and had a wonderful experience. Service couldn't have been better (ie...they knew to bring DH a large bowl of prunes in the morning) and, although I'm sure there were some snobs on board, I didn't meet any. Based on your review, we'll just stick with "the masses".
  5. I was going to suggest getting together for dinner etc pre-cruise....but you don't need that now. You made the right decision. I've had "strange roommates" a few times when I was much younger. Some good experiences....mostly not too good.
  6. @BlerkOneSorry I'm late to this party and I don't want to read thru 11 pages right now. Question: Entertainment-Is there a theatre? If so, is it a real theatre or a convertible one (where you can rearrange the seating...just chairs set up)? And also..if so...have there been shows there? Thanks...now I'll read thru the 11 pages (just decided that maybe a trip on this ship is in my near future) PS-I like those cat pics!
  7. @OttawaJohn The crowd may be a "colleges are out for summer" thing. It's not a NY thing. Question about the buffet: Did you not like the choices, quality etc....or did you just need to get away from the chaos? I have an Escape cruise coming up....and I am really looking forward to the buffet. Sorry you missed Norfolk. Although most people don't care about it...there is a nice battleship right next door. We spent a few hours there last June (?) on the Joy to Bermuda.
  8. My color/cut was also excellent. The facial was great. I go for "deep tissue" massages at home and the one on the ship was too gentle for me. They still have some spa specials...but imho, still overpriced (compared to what I pay at home).
  9. I had a color/cut on the Meraviglia back in 2019 for about $60....but they cut those great deals out (I also had a massage and a facial on that cruise for $50 each). A few weeks ago on the Meraviglia they had a color/styling special for "not too much" (I forget the price but it was under $100) on the second or third day. It was a good price...but I wasn't in need of a coloring.
  10. To make life easier for DH (and therefore me) I want to order a wheelchair for embarkation/disembarkation in NYC. Is this something I do when I get to the port, or something I need to reserve in advance? Any info will be appreciated. TIA
  11. Also born here. Always lived here and will die here. In the old days people from the Bronx would boast that they were the only boro on the mainland.
  12. And that's why I booked almost a year out. Half of the interiors were already gone!
  13. If you want to put the whole cost on the credit card with insurance....cancel and rebook. The refunds aren't taking too long (mine was less than 2 weeks).
  14. We had an inside. It took less than one minute to get to the YC pool deck. Did not miss the balcony at all. The cost was less than for an NCL guarantee balcony for the same week.
  15. We were in the YC on the 4/29 sailing. The ship was at full capacity but YC never felt full. The service was wonderful....everyone went above and beyond. As they say, it was the GOAT. It's all about attitude. You'll have a great time, again!
  16. The problem is....not referring to anyone.....that "inexperieced" travelers, book and assume everything is "as booked". They don't know that they will have to do all this "follow-up".
  17. @Brighton LineI don't remember "glass rooms" but I do remember "Cry Baby Matinees"....where lights were only dimmed and kids could make all the noise they want. My YC experience was excellent. But...different sailing; different passengers....and different expectations. @JoiseymomI found YC food better than other "cruise dining room food"....but they have to cater to the lowest common denominator. That means.....not too spicy, not too "authentic cuisine"....basically bland and lacking in pizazz. Kind of like vanilla ice cream; I like mine with chocolate chips and syrup on top!
  18. People should control their kids. If they can't, they shouldn't put them in that situation or take them out of the immediate situation. It's not "the kid"....but the noise coming out of the kid. Really....no different than an adult talking on a phone during a movie. Be respectful of others.
  19. I don't blame you. People don't spend thousands of dollars to stay in the YC...and have to deal with other people's noisy kids/grandkids. I'm glad you made the staff aware and that they are watching out for you.
  20. I thought 6 months....but on our recent cruise there was an infant who was "almost 6 months".
  21. Sorry...I'm with OP on this one. "A screaching toddler" should have been removed by the parents (as I did with my son when he was a screaching toddler). It ruins the experience for everyone....passengers and staff. (DH is from a large family and in his homeland this probably would be accepted behavior. Then again...DH's family wouldn't have been in YC...LOL.) Anyway....back to the review!
  22. I agree with "call NCL directly". I recently had to ask for a refund/credit for a theatre ticket I bought with a "no refunds" policy. I sent a very polite and truthful e-mail. There was a "pending credit" on my card almost immediately. Although you had a year, I understand....planning for multiple people when school/work are involved isn't easy.
  23. Staff were probably placating her....not gossiping with her. Best way to get tips (ask any cab driver)...just agree with whatever the passenger says. "Unruly kids" puts staff in an awkward position. Nobody wants them.
