  1. Just be careful about logging out. If you don't....you'll use up your minutes. Even some non blonds have been known to forget!
  2. If I felt ill, I'd stay in the cabin....covid, cold, flu, noro etc. No matter what I had....I wouldn't go out of my way "to spread the love".
  3. They must give the TAs nice commissions for the YC bookings! Between the MSC discounts and his discounts I got something like 20% off...so we sprung for the balcony (Caribbean cruise). I have my eye on a Canadian cruise for next fall...and the interior will be just fine! ETA...just realized this is the NCL forum. We are going on the Escape next month, and DH (who doesn't get too involved with booking etc) was disappointed when he realized it's not gonna be YC. I have a feeling that this one will be our final NCL sailing.
  4. Seriously....no real need for the balcony. There is a dedicated elevator for the YC inside; we went from our cabin to the pool deck in about 60 seconds. The cabin itself was adequate, but the storage is limited. If you need 3 outfits a day with accessories you could have a problem, so pack light and you'll be fine. When I compared the price of the interior YC to the NCL "sailaway balcony" price....booking YC was a no-brainer.
  5. @azappraiser I completely get the cost vs value concept. For me, Haven has almost no value because what I like about YC doesn't exist in the Haven. And to be honest, I only tried YC because DH was having medical issues and I wanted to make life easy (for both of us). Once I tried it, at a price about double of my originally booked "balcony with the masses cabin"....there was no question that it was so worth it....it was invaluable.
  6. Two words: Yacht Club (MSC). You get a lot more bang for your buck (24/7 internet , drink package, spa....all included). One sailing in YC and I was sold. Buffet breakfasts and lunches on pool deck (not in the Haven)....personalized pizza delivery (not in the Haven)...add to the value.
  7. My husband's favorite day on a cruise.....the $10 etc T-Shirt sale day; and in port, he has to have one from every port!
  8. I have a place where I get 75% off....brings it down to normal price! I like their styles but not their stones........
  9. @pcakes122Hate to tell you, but Effy should be 1/4 of the marked price to get to FMV. In addition, their diamonds are very low quality....J color and inclulded. I got a glympse of the tag once. Effy is a master in marketing......... I'm not saying I would never buy an Effy....but never on a ship or in the islands. I got into a semi-heated discussion with a sales rep once when she was telling about "their quality"....I pointed out the info on the tag, and told her she should review the 4 Cs.
  10. Maybe dinner on the balcony in Bermuda, but not at sea........
  11. Truth be told, I got some "junk" on ships that looked great and blended in with "the real stuff". And some other "junk" that to this day remains unworn! Bottom line....don't spend more than you can afford to lose and don't buy things as investments.
  12. The one time I bought something that cost multiple thousands of dollars they had to size it and change the gold color on the setting. It was done well. But that was from the Turkish Diaspora company; I have seen them on cruises for quite a while. They can get away with "nonsense" because they're never gonna see you again.....
  13. Quick update: I ran into my friend yesterday. Asked her if she canceled the cruise. Her response was "not yet" because she's going to the doctor in a couple of weeks. So I asked her if she had insurance and she said that the PCC says she does. I'm not sure what the doctor has to do with this...other than she thinks the doctor can write her "a note". She wasn't slightly upset about a refund or FCC. And no, I'm not making any suggestions. If anyone remembers an episode of "2 1/2 Men"....where Heather Locklear was Alan's divorce lawyer, and he had to pay for his ex-wife's drycleaning etc....I think that this is the lawyer her ex-huband used. It's easy to throw away other people's money.....................
  14. On our cruise we had a pianist in the TSL....kind of like background elevator music. She wasn't bad, but I'd never go "just to hear her". We also had a guest entertainer. She put on a show in the theatre, and gave us a private performance (sorry, I forget her name, but her claim to fame was that she sang with Meatloaf). Now, that was a treat, not t be missed. Maybe a special YC guest performance of some sort on each cruise....
  15. Maybe a menu of "included options" and everyone picks what they want........ For example, if they cut out my alcohol and gave me a facial and gelato, I'd be happy.
  16. In the first post, OP only said "eldery". She didn't say that there were issues.
  17. Ocean Cay YC beach is "the worst". As to the food, I'm not a lobster eater....I don't remember what I ate there, but I wasn't thrilled. The menu was very limited; they should add a few things. I don't recall chinken on the menu. Maybe a dedicated YC shuttle that stops at other beaches (could have been there and I didn't notice it).
  18. Since we get the thermal spa....maybe one of the services included (or a discount for a service). How about umbrellas on the pool deck tables.
  19. First of all, because someone is "eldery" it doesn't mean "incapacitated". And you refer to "move them down" to your deck. If they were moved up, that's a bonus. Closer to the concierge desk, closer to the lounge, closer to the dining room...and closer to the pool deck. You make it sound like they were exiled to Siberia.
  20. Anyone remember "Arvin and Emily"? They used to sing in the Atrium....I tried to attend every performance!
  21. My agent books for me, but won't go on it herself. She says "too many problems...."
  22. A few years back (pre pandemic) I advised her to take a cruise out of NYC (15 minute cab ride to the pier) to Canada. If/when I find out about "refund vs credit" I'm gonna tell her the same thing........
  23. Well ... ultimately her ex husband will be paying. She's 99 percent dependant on him. She cancelled because she's nervous about doing anything on her own.
  24. When she told me she booked the cruise...I told my husband this isn't going to end well.
