  1. Since our "MSC inside YC" which was no more expensive than a balcony on NCL....we've become Yacht Club converts. I can't speak for "the masses on MSC"...but in the YC, you are treated like royalty. It is soooo worth the money...even more so in light of cut backs.
  2. That's where I get mine.....I don't buy them onboard any longer. I wait until I want to book a cruise...and go to FB. You should have no problem selling them there.
  3. We were totally spoiled by MSC Yacht club in April (no...Haven doesn't offer what we liked about YC...so Haven isn't an option). What we like about NCL is entertainment and buffet. We have our annual "Canadian Voyage" booked on the Escape in Sept....and I'm really afraid it's going to be a huge disappointment.
  4. I believe I made lemonaide out of lemons....... My choices were: Book same itinerary (8 days) and cabin...no rate increase. That would have been a YC Interior in August...too many kids and hurricanes Book a shorter (7 days) and not as good itinerary...YC interior...in May...costing a couple hundred more than my original booking Book the 11 day Caribbean April...YC/Balcony...at a cost of pp/per day...just a couple of dollars more than the YC interior 7 day So...as you suggested...I took the 11 day. I guess it's a win/win....MSC is getting more of my money, but I'm getting the best of the options available
  5. I'd agree with you....but....if you have room service, the whole concept of the buffet is gone!
  6. Not gonna flame you...lol. But retired people (and many cruisers are retired) get up later than working people. And since we've been cruising about 20 years...and the breakfast buffet was always open later...well, you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks..........
  7. Everyone has their own schedules...and my DH's breakfast schedule is "as late as possible". I usually get my "early breakfast" (I'm the only one in O'Sheehan's), go to the casino, and pick him up at 10 for the buffet. This will not go over big with him, (It's about 10:15 am now; he's still in bed.) On top of this, with lack of what we call entertainment.......our next NCL cruise will probably be our last one.
  8. Born, raised...still living in the city....and hope to die here! IMHO...it's not the NYers that are the problem....it's those from the surrounding areas "The Manhattan People" are about as sophisticated as they come......
  9. On the Meraviglia it was simple to figure out. But you have to walk with confidence, and act as if you belong.
  10. So...you suggest I take my overcoat with me and go to Canada, instead of sitting at the YC pool deck, in the sunshine having freshly grilled fish???? FYI...I'm not switching to a summer cruise to the Bahamas either....that's the only one with the same itinerary. Too many kids and too many hurricanes.
  11. Huh....what problem? The only "problem" I ever had was trying to understand why it's necessary to cancel and rebook if there's a price drop. Otherwise...I'm a YC cheerleader!
  12. @Illbcruzn4lifeI don't understand. If you're booked on the cruise....why is your cabin available to book? Since they're giving you the extra days....don't you get to stay in the cabin? Oh yeah...this is MSC....where nothing makes sense!
  13. @coscabI would gladly take that change. They think I'm going to Canada instead of the Bahamas. Nope....
  14. No more 30% off YC. Now it's nothing off YC...and 10% everywhere else. I was in an interior Meraviglia YC in April and loved it. We don't drink (I had a couple of cokes, one glass of wine; DH had a daily glass of wine) and aren't really into "cruise food" (I like spicy...cruise food is generally too bland for me). But, having an individually prepared pizza delivered to me on the pool deck superceded "the fine dining experience"...lol. And there was always something at every meal. There's a grill buffet for breakfast and lunch on the pool deck...wonderful. Freshely squeezed OJ in the morning with my french toast! Freshly grilled fish for lunch! The space of the cabin is limited....but unless you need three changes of clothing daily, you'll be fine. We did not miss having a balcony; the YC elevator got us from cabin to pool deck in about a minute. The service....excellent. Go for the YC...you won't regret it.
  15. @PharmacyRxJust curious...but do you know where Non YC guests stayed during the delayed disembarkation? I am not picturing a pretty sight! Was food available?
  16. @schooner_DrinkerLOL...I didn't say "you said it". I meant that it was in the thread...Americans want their burgers. For the record...I only eat about 2 meatballs a year!
  17. @schooner_DrinkerThanks for the link! My first MSC trip was on the Divina, 12/2015: The second trip, Meraviglia,10/2019. I was "with the mases" both times, and loved those sailings. I found my co-travelers to be non-American, and for the most part sophisticated. The "non-American atmosphere' was what made the trip great. I have no problem with "a million languages" (I live in NYC...I'm used to being spoken to in many tongues). According the your link,,,,the issue was with the Americans (rude, only wanting hamburgers etc). So, @LMaxwell With the risk of being politically incorrect, were "those people of whom you speak" residents of the United States? We were in the YC in April...and when we ventured out, we found it to be very heavily a "non-American crowd" from a culture where pushing is a way of life. For us it's YC or nothing. And here's the thing: YC interiors are so reasonably priced for what you get, I'm concerned that the "exclusivity" of the YC may become watered down.
  18. Only 2 words to say about this...oy vey. My next statements would have been politically incorrect....so I won't say anything, other than when you're selling cruises at ridiculously low prices, those prices don't attract the most sophisticated people.
  19. @CTRobin.....you should be able to cancel YC without a penalty, Are any of your cabins in an interior? I]m hoping one becomes available on that sailing..... Other lines give people some sort of compensation to make up "for things" such as increased price of new cruise (obc).
  20. I'm hoping they do something about the YC beach. Maybe use the less rocky one across the road!
  21. My cruise concierge just called me. According to him....if I book "the still bookable" 7 day cruise....I would be grandfathered into the extended 10 day cruise.... One of the perks of retirement....my time is my own!
  22. @bostoncruisegal This is the e-mail I got from my TA: If you will sail aboard MSC Meraviglia with the revised itinerary, no further action is required on your part. If you prefer to reschedule your cruise vacation, you can select from the following three options. If you wish to select one of the below options, please respond to this email before July 31, 2023. You can reschedule your cruise to an alternative Caribbean Summer 2024 Sailing with a departure date between April 1st, 2024 through October 31st, 2024. No change fees will apply and MSC will honor the best rate as long as the new cruise is of the same length and accommodation as the original sailing. Any payments already made towards the original cruise will be transferred to the new cruise. You may reschedule your cruise vacation to any alternative ship or sail date. No change fees will apply, and any payments already made towards the original cruise will be transferred to the new cruise. Please note, the prevailing rate of the new cruise will apply. Alternatively, you can choose to cancel your reservation and request a refund in the amount paid to MSC. If you purchased pre-paid shore excursions through My MSC for any port affected by these changes, you will be automatically refunded. The refund will be processed within two billing cycles. We thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you aboard MSC Cruises!
  23. You won the jackpot too...4/14 is now 11 nights...departing on 4/7! It's going to the Caribbean.
  24. Sounds like you won and I got a booby prize (rerouted to Canada). They are still booking the 4/21 as a 7 day cruise; but now it's been changed to a 4/18 10 day trip. The rep at MSC saw the 4/21 and could book; the 4/21 isn't there yet. I just e-mailed my TA about booking the "actually non-existant yet bookable" 4/21. So disappointed.........
  25. I received a list showing all the changes to the Meraviglia. Because their IT dept is so "up to date"....nothing is reflected on their website yet. One cruise...a 7 day...was switched to a 10 day...departing a few days earlier. Of course the website still has the 7 day cruise available for booking. According to their letter, if you are booked on the 7 day, you get the 10 day at no additional cost. I'm wondering what would happen if I booked the 7 day (well, it's there and available). Would they honor the price.....
