  1. One time I went to a steak house with my mother. The full meal included a very extensive salad bar. My mother decided that I should have her salad bar and she'd have her steak. I was very embarrased and never went back there. I had to teach my mother a lesson! (I was in my late 20's at the time.) Bottom line....people want something for nothing.
  2. YC interior (it's small but we travel light) for an 8 night cruise was less than an NCL balcony guarantee for 7 nights....same week! Up until this year my husband used to say "the day he needs a butler would be the day he can't walk". Although he can still walk (with a cane at this point), what sold me wasn't "the butler" but we could avoid lines and waiting. The spa, separate pool, meal on demand, lounge area, pizza delivery (and other food too), drinks (although we are very very light drinkers) are just added bonuses. If "the April cruise" happens...and I'm impressed....I may go for a larger cabin in YC next time!
  3. This is what my 88 year old husband used to say....until colon cancer hit. Now we're booked in YC and I'm thinking of canceling the NCL Sept (great price for a balcony) cruise just because we deserve/want/can afford to be pampered. Unfortunately.....I think he also needs it.
  4. It's not what you wear, but how you wear it. For me it's gonna be t-shirts with bling added for evening attire.
  5. And I did my price comparison. For our 8 night MSC cruise vs NCL same week...guarantee balcony (no drinks or meals)...YC came in a few dollars less. Not to mention...we like the MSC itinerary....don't like NCL's.
  6. DH and I are booked for an April Meraviglia YC...interior. We don't drink (as an example, we ate in a restaurant that offers a complimantery glass of wine with a meal...he drank his, I had about 1/3 of mine)...so maybe we'll have one glass each per day. But, the other amenitites are important....no standing on lines, no long waits for meals, spa, separate pool and lounge.....those are why we chose YC!
  7. I was in a "fat group" several years back. The politically correct term would be "How To Lose Weight" class. One participant complained that she didn't lose anything. Not being a person who filters well or is politically correct...I told her the only way is to eat less and move more.
  8. I really hate reading this. I've only been on MSC twice, both times with "the masses". I thought "other people" were more upscale and cultured than me....after all, besides the cost of the cruise they flew in from "foreign lands" and they had a "sense of style". I guess that's no longer the case. Cheap cabins plus cheap alcohol....and that's the crowd you get. To those that sailed recently....is the crowd no longer "foreigners who live in foreign lands"?
  9. To be honest....if I wanted to spend the money the Haven costs ...I would go on more prestigious line. I never understood the lure of the Haven. You're not getting that much more but you're paying a lot more. Oh well.... that's why there are choices.
  10. I think they should just drop the "Bermuda in the winter" thing. It's not the weather in Bermuda...it's the weather/currents getting there. Newport in the winter.....I don't think so. They should look at their pre-pandemic itineraries....those worked.
  11. @mking8288Wow.....thank you for posting your experience on this thread. Although we rarely eat in the MDR....it sounds like there are just too many cutbacks. I'm wondering if they watered down the buffet (I know...no more late night snacks.
  12. I don't think you do. When I go to any new place....let's take a restaurant....I check the Yelp listing and/or the menu on line. Let's say I eat mainly vegatables/fish. If I didn't check Yelp etc...got there...it's basically a steak house with very few "healthy options"....whose fault would that be? The information is out there.....as a patron, it's your responsibility to check it.
  13. @PATRLR"Everybody" knows going to the Caribbean during hurricane season is a bad idea. NCL doesn't warn people. Winter Bermuda cruises started only because other ports still had covid restictions. And, based on how many Bermuda stops were cancelled....it doesn't take a psychic to predict that it will probably be eliminated from itineraries going forward.
  14. If you haven't been in the Yacht Club how do you know that it's an inferior experience? I'm doing a YCI in April for 8 nights; the cost was a few dollars less than a 7 night gurantee balcony on NCL to Bermuda....same week. What I'd like to know is why anyone would pay Haven prices and get so much less than the YC?
  15. There is a difference between being IN Bermuda and sailing TO Bermuda. The ocean.....
  16. There's something called "personal responsibility". Anyone who did their homework would have known that Bermuda is not the Caribbean and that the seas are rough in the winter. There's also "cancel for any reason" insurance.
  17. Is there any fee? If you charge $100 to your room, will there be an additional charge?
  18. It's like this with me too. I booked with a TA...he saved me 14% off than if I had booked directly. However, he's definiately not a travel adviser....more like a travel booker. You have to give him all the details. And I still had to correct a mistake he made. Lots of travel agents don't deal with MSC.....too time consuming if there's an issue. There is a website where agents give you their price for specific cruises....you could try that.
  19. We're gonna be in 16010 (inside) in April. Only booked YC because "DH WAS having mobility issues". He's up and running now (ok...he's 88 so not running that fast) but after telling him all the great things that are included, he's really looking forward to it. Keep the good reviews coming...... If anyone has a link to "the complainer" on youtube, please share.
  20. I've noticed....my browser is no longer letting me see the final price. Mutliple browsers on multiple devices!
  21. @shof515Carnival has always been more generous with FCC due to port cancellations.
  22. Ok...Now I remember why winter cruises started sailing to Bermuda this year. The other "close-by"port, Grand Turk (part of the Turks and Caicos) still had Covid restrictions in place. Bermuda didn't. It was easier for passengers. I didn't notice any cruiseships going to Grand Turk this year (again, as always, I could be wrong). When I was looking for winter cruises I omitted any ship going to Bermuda. It's not beach weather and the ocean is too rough going there.
  23. NCL never had "winter cruises to Bermuda" in the past. I wonder why now? Does it have something to do with no covid restrictions vs other islands that may still have (or had them when they were in the planning stage) them? Maybe I'm wrong....but did NCL have this itinerary in the past during the winter (last year, pre-covid)?
