As a pizza authority....Princess had good pizza....but nothing compared to MSC. However, I'm an old pizza purist. Just gimme cheese, tomato sauce and mushrooms, pepperoni.... Just the thought of "fig pizza" makes me gag. (Sad commentary....come home from a cruise on Friday only to find my local pizza guy closed shop).

I've been on about a dozen ncl sailings...all out of nyc. Just finished my first princess cruise....and for about the same cost...princess is by far superior. I was so pleased...because of so many things. Ncl says they are "free stlye"...but princess was truly "do what you want when you want".

I know you didn't like the medallion for "casino purposes". I actually loved it; simplified everything...no need to insert or remember to take the card out. You can always cash out at the end of the day.

We like the buffet because: You can eat whenever you want You can get as much of want you want There are many more options You don't need to make small talk with people if you're not in the mood The service in the Princess buffet was excellent. Although the food in the mdr was good...the time and options were too limiting. As far as "other people" ...English is my husband's third language and he's hard of hearing. It's uncomfortable for him.

We were able to...but 6 inches from the same people every night. Truth is...we really prefer the buffet for many reasons.

No...we didn't do any of the pop-ups. There was so much good food to choose from just about all the time...I don't know how anyone could go hungry. I did read on social media that the wait was long.

Just a note about my fellow passengers: I definitely like "the Princess Cruiser". I didn't have a problem leaving my stuff unattended while in the pool. Talking about the pool...no chair hogging. Each chair had a towel...and attendants collected those towels if chair was unoccupied. I also like that you didn't have to sign in/sign out extra towels by the pool. We were treated like law abiding adults......

I had one of the cake slices...black forest cake. Never came back for a second one. I found the regular desserts better. The best one was the Love Boat cake in the MDR.

MsTabbyKats is back (with a cough etc), and the cruise was really really good. The medallions were wonderful...put it on prior to entering terminal and didn't need anything else for the entire cruise. We had the plus package. Between the medallion and the app...I have to say that this was better than the MSC YC. The level of service was that good! (Needless to say....much better than NCL or CCL) There were 2 formal nites. On one were were "appropriately attired" for the MDR; on the next one we went to the buffet. By "appropriately attired" I mean we were minimally formal. "Smart casual" is formal enuf!

We just got off the Island Princess also...1st time on Princess....about 25 other cruises (NCL, CCL, MSC, MSC YC) I was totally blown away. Based on the reviews, I was in shock. A few random thoughts: I like the way they do omelets....you order, you get a receipt, one of the waiters in the buffet picks it up for you! No waiting in lines.. The medallion/app are wonderful. In MSC YC you get a medallion too...but these do so much more. I loved that you could locate someone (my husband tends to wander off!) The food was excellent. This was the first cruise where I enjoyed MDR food (although I didn't enjoy eating with strangers so after 3 nites we went to the buffet instead). They actually used spices and the food had flavor. Entertainment...excellent Service was wonderful....servers brought drinks very quickly Pizza....it's not MSC, but very good We used the app to have food delivered once. Came quickly. We got a specialty cake once...the regular desserts were better. That crazy specialty ice cream....they gave me a scoop with sprinkles and sauce in a cup, and it was good. Casino...slots; didn't lose more than expected Cabin...OV. Nice layout. Cabin had a very large window. TV...large hi def tv...with a huge selection of movies and shows All in all...it was a 10 out of 10 cruise. I definitely prefer this to NCL or CCL or MSC (regular)

And that was all we needed....very efficient embarkation!

My motto is "it's not what you wear, but how you wear it". I have "a killer jewelry collection"......I keep on the same basic clothing and change the jewelry for the occasion. Personally...I don't care what people wear; I care "how they look". It's all about styling things well.

Thanks....I'm an early morning player (DH sleeps late) so I shouldn't have a problem. I miss those classics!

6/25? Us too! The cruise is sold out, so it the pipes burst, they'll be no place to relocate us...

I love the old games....can you name a few they had? Da Vinci Diamonds, Lucky Lemmings,,,,others that did not require a large minimum bet? So looking forward to "my old friends" next week!

I started with YC...just to cut the line...as my husband was recovering from surgery and using a cane. And it's worth every penny. No matter what the reason, we pay for that privilege, and every other amenity in YC.

Or...it may mean that they aren't so liberal with giving away "cheap YC cabins". It's very annoying to "pay a lot" when others get it at a discount, for me anyway.

I hope they still have this for the 6/25 sailing. Where is "the juice bar"?

@geoherbPlease co firm....washers and dryers on Island Princess are free. Others on other ships said they had to pay. Thanks

Hmmm....someone.on IP said they were free. I'll ask him directly.

Washing machines.... On another thread someone said washers/dryers are free....but you need to buy detergent. True or false?
