  1. It is. But I think while Carnival (and other cruise lines) want to minimize the risk of fire, they have to pick their battles. Therefore, hairspray is allowed, but not spray disinfectant. Blow dryers and curling irons are allowed, but not coffeemakers.
  2. I agree, but IMO the Funfetti Cheesecake is the one exception. That's why I always get it. DH is always amused that I make a little game out of trying to be the first person on the ship to get a piece.
  3. I have eaten it on the Radiance relatively recently. It might have been a one-time thing in your particular circumstance.
  4. I could see where that might be a precedent they would not want to set. There's a potential of the front of the MDR clogged with dozens of people getting melting cakes to go every night.
  5. I don't think there is any guarantee that you will have your own table at set dining. You may get placed at a larger table with others. If you do YTD, you can request your own table.
  6. Funfetti Cheesecake. And yes they still serve it on embarkation day
  7. They do know the arrival time. It's 9 a.m., like the site says. If you get there earlier, it's a bonus. The trip from Cabo is relatively long, so there is a lot of things that can happen on the journey to affect the arrival time - strong headwinds, storms, etc.
  8. From what I can gather from some online research, it's actually quite hard to cross the border from Haiti to the DR even if you aren't a prison escapee. Their border is actually quite secure, That makes sense to me. Haiti is much poorer than the Dominican Republic, and it is very politically unstable. If it were easy to get to the Dominican Republic from Haiti, the DR would be overwhelmed with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of economic and political refugees.
  9. This is the second thread that the OP started on this topic. Here is the first one:
  10. And this is the reason they have reduced the number of items on the Guy's condiment bar - they are supposed to be for topping a burger, but people are taking large quantities and eating them separately.
  11. In 27 Carnival cruises (including 4 on the Spirit), I have never ever encountered a situation at a made-to-order food place when they wouldn't accommodate reasonable requests like that. You must have run into a really anal retentive crewmember.
  12. You cannot compare things like debt or stock price between two companies in an absolute sense. It's like saying Person A is worse off than Person B because Person A has a larger mortgage. There are many other factors one would have to take into consideration.
  13. If I really needed wet wipes, I would bring some of those scented disposable bags that are used for diapers or dog poop, and put the used ones in them before you put them in the garbage can.
  14. Honestly, with that list, you probably won't be able to eat 95% of the food that is served on a cruise ship. Do you eat in restaurants at home? How do you manage that?
  15. I sign up for roll calls for all of my cruises on that popular social media site. For the last cruise I took, there were over 1000 members. I use it for shore excursion advice and such. I don't participate in slot pulls or shotglass exchanges or the like.
  16. I am wondering if it's the amount of room they take up in storage given their weight. On an Excel ship, if everyone ate the equivalent of 3 or 4 individual-sized bags of chips on a given cruise, that's over 2,000 pounds of potato chips. A pound of potato chips takes up about the same space as 3-4 pounds of potato chips. And frozen fries don't have to be treated as gently as chips. Potato chips are also about 3 times the price of frozen french fries on a per-pound basis.
  17. It's this song (warning- offensive language): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gudDmgr1H3o&ab_channel=DiegoGilNavarro Believe it or not, the first time I heard this version of the song was in Munich during Starkbierfest - and it was performed by a polka band.
  18. I don't understand your questions. Are you under the impression that you are required to carry insurance that covers Covid to cruise out of Australia?
  19. Yeah, I am not doing that. Especially to listen to mediocre talent.
  20. I live in Las Vegas, too, and the good news is that there seems to be many, many flights to most places that Carnival cruises out of. So if your early morning day-before flight is late/cancelled, you usually have several alternatives to get on a flight that gets you to the ship on time.
  21. If you know that your husband isn't going, and then book trip insurance and file a claim based on his inability to go, that is insurance fraud.
  22. I don't mean to be harsh, but if I were the OP, I would have never booked this cruise given the issues they would have to deal with. Crowds are everywhere on all mass market cruise ships - and you can even encounter them unexpectedly, so I am not sure you can adequately prepare for every potential situation. And as far as the person with limited mobility is concerned, not getting a wheelchair or scooter would be a deal breaker for me. It isn't fair for that person to seriously hinder everyone else's enjoyment of the vacation because they are stubborn about this.
  23. I was referring to base fares. If Carnival focuses their price increases on items that are completely optional, I am all for it.
