  1. Well obviously, if you are carrying around a purse, you aren't going to need a lanyard. But it is my observation that most women walking around the ship don't have their purse with them.
  2. What else could anyone reasonably expect? They are serving thousands of people at the same time. IMO it is very good banquet food. And unlike a hotel conference, you have your choice of over a dozen entrees instead of two or three.
  3. I used to really enjoy the piano bar. Now, not so much. With a few exceptions, I don't think the musicians are as talented as I have experienced in the past. Often there are a handful of cruisers who take over all of the good seats every night and monopolize the song requests. And while I love the international aspect of the entertainment staff on Carnival, the last time I visited a piano bar, the performer's accent was so heavy, I was having trouble understanding what he was saying/singing. He also distributed a rather limited list of songs, and apparently only wanted to take requests from that list.
  4. I would vote for the Horizon cruise. Newer ship - not every single one of the bells and whistles of the Excel class, but very very nice. And the ports are way more interesting than Celebration.
  5. Once we got a call on our cabin phone. My husband picked it up and the person said that there was an "important message" for me. My heart was pounding as I took the phone. Did one of my parents pass away? Did something happen to one of my kids? No. It was someone from the spa offering me $50 off a service. Needless to say, I was really angry.
  6. Got it, but I was replying to the specific comment to make sure that the Radiance was sailing out of Long Beach and not LA. The poster was the one making the distinction between the two.
  7. Now that I reread the policy, that might just be for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific cruises.
  8. Plus I cannot imagine trying to corral a party of ten every night and getting them to decide when to eat dinner.
  9. I would assume she would not sail without the baby. And I don't know if this factored into the decision, bur they would have to pay full fare for it. And if there are more than 2 sea days in a row, the baby would have to be a year old to even be allowed to sail.
  10. This is the case no matter what dining option you choose.
  11. And it would have to be a material amount, which it would not be compared to Carnival Corp's total revenue.
  12. I can see why some people might risk a day-of flight to a U.S. embarkation port, but IMO it is absolutely INSANE to do that for a European cruise. My personal experience has been that a significant number of my transcontinental flights have had some sort of significant delay. I would never fly the same day as my cruise to save $150 on a hotel room - even if I did have trip insurance.
  13. This. All of the steaks are going to be prepared in basically the same way, likely by the same chef. Once you are past that, it depends on the quality of that particular steak, and there is always going to be a chance that you don't get the most ideal one. A lot of that is just luck of the draw. My advice is to choose a cut (filet, ribeye, strip, etc.) that you already know you like.
  14. Of course the casino department has flexibility to give you gifts. Just like onland casino hosts. They are schmoozing you. If you have a really great PVP (like we do), his or her excellent service should be enough.
  15. Exactly. If you are really set on a particular type of champagne, your best bet is to bring it onboard with you.
  16. But I bet you didn't miss your cruise! 😃
  17. I think they landed in Miami, but missed the cruise. They wound up just doing a land-based vacation in Florida. And no, they did not have trip insurance. They will going forward.
  18. Yes, if you are flying, always go the day before. My brother and his GF missed a cruise out of Miami on Virgin because of flight delays.
  19. They had this on a couple of nights on a Journeys cruise I was on a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how people got invited. If it was based on loyalty, I certainly wouldn't qualify. I am platinum, and the their were hundreds of diamonds on this cruise. It did look really nice.
  20. There are healthy options both in the MDR and the Lido buffet.
