Enjoyed the review...heightened our excotement as we cpuntvdown to our BEYOND cruise. Good nemories of some of the ports we have been to in the past. If you have any photos you can post, please share!

We'll be on her soon..Hopefully in calmer seas! Long ago we were on Mercury,.( our fav ship) Ship.hit a freak storm on way back up to Florida during he night. The ship listed so badly that we fell out of bed, We put on our life jackets but they were not needed, Ship was a total mess in the morning, Flooded on several decks, auto doors not working...wide open. Many dishes etc were broken as they fell. Staff worked all night to clean and tidy whatever they could.,, We sloshed our way off at debarkation and felt bad for staff & those coming aboard... Sailed on her afterwards,.all fixed!

Thanks for your reply.. your feedback is always helpful. I forgot they would stop at Cape Liberty before Port Ev,.. Our cruise will just be a taste of Beyond..but fit our dates and desire for a shorter cruise..no tests, etc,

Hope the seas calm down.. with smooth sailing ahead Has anyone tried SPA services on board? Who is the Captain,? CD? Will there be switches in Pt Ev?

Wasn't a pricing issue for us..We just wanted to avoid long distance flights. We flew from NY to Long Beach, Ca, .stayed 2 days to adjust to time diff and sailed from there. The days at sea gradually eased the time chages as well. Not sure we'd do it that way again but we enjoyed our trip . For us, the Carib is much closer and the water activities more enjoyable, but the Volcanos Natl Park, the Arizona Memorial and beautiful landscape were worth the trip..

Ours was in TUSCAN on both of our EDGE cruises ,great way to start the day with a light breakfast and good coffee., was it a small buffet or served on little platers? Grand Bistro is very nice but not the same for breakfast. Did Cap Club host/ hostess attend regularly?

Ha ha about the meal prep. But you probably did a better job than X and on time! .My husb and I recently had it at the same time. We isolated at home for 10 days. And stayed mostly on sep levels of the house. He missed work, we missed the grandchildren but had comfort of our own home, back yard and deck. Had good internet, tv etc We had reduced appetites, low energy, achy but nothing severe this time around. Tested okay around day 5 but followed 5 more days of quarantine just to be safe. Being confined in a small cabin, with little or nothing to do. And lack of control of meals or being ignored by X, would not really be the same for us. Looking forward to BEYOND..hoping for the best.

We did RT Hawaii long ago on Summit when she was in great shape..Had nice relaxing days at sea..but many activities also available. It made for fewer days in Hawaii ports but no long air flights to get there. They had a Hawaii Ambasador on board to guide activities.. lei making, learned the hula! It had a stop in Mexico to fit the rules.

You can probably get res or walk in dining once on board...speak to maitre d as soon as you board

Folks from our Nov... (5 day) Beyond Roll call are planning to meet at the EDEN bar around 4:30 pm for a pre dinner get together..Gatsby dress theme, We may have to pick another spot.,Thanks for the heads up!

Glad cruise went well. EQUINOX is one of our fav ships, along with Silhouette and EDGE

Prevention is what you can try to do and not catch it, but mostly luck..folks can pass it on before they know they are sick..we cri ge when folks cough but that could be allergies, Congrats on your freedom. Confusing however.....you can stay in cabin with him and also go out and about and bring him goodies from the bar and buffet??? Policy seems wierd! Hope you hang in til its over and done with and your husb feels better! Do you know how they will handle disembark? Or post cruise cleaning of your cabin..

Theres another thread about Covid on Beyond... hope it peters out by our Nov cruise. The affected couple reported they were not treated very well. Does anyone think more staff will join when in US?

For our recent Covid bout we believe we contracted it in Airport or on airplane..Fl to NY via Balt, we are triple vacinated but guess it does not provide full protection.. we were sick for abt a week but nothing as terrible as what we think we had pre testing & vaccinations. We isolated for 10 days..no prescription meds given., hoping for immunity into November Just took the 2nd shingles shot and next up is senior flu shot!

Good choice .Certainty is good and 6 pm is a decent time, but they will probably be assigned to the same dining rm each night..and probably at a long table masquerading as twos in a long row....Menus are flexible among the diff dining rms so not that a big issue. From our EDGE experience , once settled in, their maitre d can help them try some of the others, we prefer the 2 smaller venues Tuscan and the Greek. And they can ask for a diff table if they are confined to the long row of twos in their assigned mdr

Thanks for the tips. We try to use stairs as much as we can but avoid handrails. We like to walk outdoors for exercise and fresh air. We are crowd aversive to begin with..so will do our best to avoid ,,,.sometimes lines etc cannot be avoided We will do what we can but not obsess unless Covid numbers are high. Anyone know the current Cap of Beyond? Is Kate still on leave/ vacation?

Sorry OP for your troubles , Not well handled by X at all .. When your quarantine period ends will you be free to go out of the stateroom or are u extended now due to husbs pos test?? Do u know how many pos Covid cases are now on BEYOND? Wonder if they will overall sanitize the ship and re impose masking and distancing protocols? We will board BEYOND in Nov for a 5 day short cruise...We.had Covid recently so hope it will help with immunity along with our 2 shots and booster quite awhile ago. We would hate to spend the entire time in our rm. Used up all our Future Cruuse Credits from cancelled cruises for the fare, first time ever in a suite, Hoping for the best but stress level is now heightened!

We took a Celeb excursion that covered major sites , historic etc and then went to the modrrn city..forgot which museum we visited. Time to grab a bite to eat, shop and take photos. We did not feel rushed or cramped. It is an amazing city and the X tour had a ships's rep along with us, top notch guides... was one of our fav port days ! I'd consider an X excursion

Wasn't a suite, but we had a Sunset Veranda cabin on EDGE. Our next door neighbors were party central for about 20 others.. in the afternoon, pre dinner post dinner party all the time. We thought it was rude and selfish and could only enjoy our balc when they went to dinner or events! Lots of extra clean up work for staff. I think the friends of the suite people will manage boarding on their own; and enjoy the amenities that come with their booking.

Can't you just work this out with maitre d ..once on board. Head to dining rm as soon as you board.. Shoreside and on ship..two different worlds!

As someone mentioned, those in charge of tender vessels are licensed Captains and responsible for all.operations on board...passenger safety as well. Calling them Drivers is not best choice of words. OP was excited with the experience and I don't think we should pile on here. In my professional field we Cebrated many firsts..late 80s into the 90s...not all professions or industries evolve(d) at the same time! Let it go...
