  1. Yes, but not everyone is aware.... most don't mind paying if they know what it will cost ahead of time. ... and it is more than a hole on the ground.. A few Carib ports charge for restroom at the port..but fee is usually mentioned in the Celeb Today...
  2. last series of photos was fabulous..looks like you are enjoying the trip: ship, ports and each other's company. Lots of nice fashion too! Hot but bright weather,,photos so vibrant. Cosmo restaurant looks just like the one on EDGE. It is one of the larger venues compared to Tuscan and where they offered a very nice daily lunch. Did you get to see the beautiful pottery/ lalique in the displays, ? We enjoyed this venue a few times,.had our first dinner there..a bit crowded at a long table ( all supposedly for 2) We would avoid that seating arrangement in future, We returned to Cosmo for our last dinner on EDGE at a quiet corner table..great food and service..felt so opulent, As to the " bus ticket incident", makes me angry..sounds like a tourist scam...like charging to use the bathrooms in France! Ship should warn guests in the daily bulletins about these rip offs.. so guests can be prepared with tickets and local coins. Perhaps you could post a warning about your exoerience on the port boards,?
  3. Just caught up.on this entertaining live review .( as always) Very well written; excellent photography on and off the ship. The combination of cruise, ports, food and drink review is brilliant! Thank you for sharing! We have been on Reflection and visited many of the same ports on other X ships. Nice to see them again through your lens! We have not been to Istanbul...heard it was a bit unsafe right now in certain places and for certain people..What was your experience ? Our neighbor is from there originally, and is visiting her mother( with her 2 yr old) for the summer. Her husb says all is well! Will continue to follow now that I am caught up...
  4. Dinner choices looked nice. I often get extra veggies. No bread... Tuscan was our fav on EDGE... one of the smaller dining rooms...love the black and white fellini decor and great music. We also had the Elite breakfast there.. great coffee! Thanks for bringing back good memories. Loved the photos of your long walk..I love to walk but might have melted. But carry a water flask when we go ashore..just in case.
  5. Robes are for in rm use after showering or while dressing..Some do wear themout of the rm but they stand out as a bit odd! For spa treatments..they supply a robe. Suggest op bring a pool coverup for use at pool and hot tubs. Lightweight ones pack easily and dry nice after use.
  6. We never recd nice looking slippers like that.. just thin slip.ons made of terry cloth material..thin non slip sole and quite narrow..we throw them out. Suggest OP bring along a pair of flip flops for pool, solarium and shower. They pack easily
  7. Sorry i do not know, but recall it was not a bad tender ride to shore. Are you going to a beach? Wish we had added that on.. I hope you can explore the port first..why lose half a day? Mykonos port area is such a great place to walk around in. Great shops of all kinds ( art, jewelry, clothing, crafts) , taverns, windmills etc. The color of the water is so beautful. The people we met were warm and happy! Hope you can do the excursion and enjoy port
  8. That's how we quit..years ago, Most who get Covid have a bad cough, breathing issues. Can't see that smoking would help that. . A quick puff or two in the bathroom with a fan, or on a balc might work ok...hopefully smoke would disapate into fresh air..and not affect others on their balcs,. But the gum would be better
  9. Just expect to spend 100 % of your time with him.. no pools or hot tubs or kids club. but lots of interesting things to see around the ship. Staff will be very helpful! Nice ice cream stand..,, Fancy dining, bars, dance floors, and loud shows may not be ideal in consideration of other guests. Bring lots of toys and activities with you and maybe he can enjoy the in room shower with all the sprays! Tv has kiddie stuff and movies. Nothing much for kids in most X gift shops..big lapse. Enjoy!
  10. Love all the photos..the SV was a perfect choice for 3..large outdoor balc, larger cabin area. . The inf Veranda would be much tighter all around. ,(We have stayed in both styles) You can ask steward to remove alot of the Hoppen stuff( unless u love it)..more room on the shelves! Also can put some of the many pillows away too. Love displaying a small flower arrangement on the lighted " niche" shelf. The art you have photographed has us psyched for BEYOND..We enjoyed the Art excursion on EDGE.. included lots of goodies , and had a short tour of the plantings..very well done. Keep it coming please.! The art piece over the couch is lovely.. do you have any info about it?
  11. Off topic Small world...we live on Long Island NY. Close friend has a cottage along the cliff walk in Howth..it was her mom's...Photos of the area are beautiful. Friend is Celebrating that when she returns to visit the cottage next month she will do so as an Irish citizen in tribute to her mom! Enjoying the review and comments,
  12. Thank you for the links..I will try to follow them. This fridge is so neat and clean.. Ours is more cluttered but kept clean..we only buy fresh products that are on sale..economic necessity these days!
  13. We appreciate this honest review from a frequent cruiser and fellow Cruise Critic poster. Sorry for all the negatives you encountered, esp the wire in the food..dangerous! We will be careful with food, loud music etc when we sail on the Beyond..only 5 days..in Nov. Seems the " covid excuse" is now replaced with the "supply chain" excuse..not just on land! We sailed on EDGE twice and loved it..esp the 4 mdr plan that came with our Sunset Veranda. I too hated the dark hallway which I named the.."creepy forest" in my early reviews....no clear pathway, low light, hard to see anything and folks in scooters racing through..We did our best to avoid it and have already noted to avoid the even worse looking similar area on BEYOND. We will also leave any shows or areas with music that is amped up. Bad or the ears and ruins the music. Hoping we will find nice spots for quiet and relaxation , and some good spa treatments on BEYOND...the Art collection and plantings on EDGE were outstanding, so hope BEYOND will offer something similar...the Eden cafe was great for lunch and also the Bistro..light and brighy..great soups and salads ( upcharge worth it) Hope you will post some photos b/c they are usually quite beautiful!
  14. We swim first thing in the Solarium pool. Cool, fresh water....all before the crowds jump in! We are gone before then. Always bring a ratty swimsuit for the hotubs.. then we throw them out after they are really ," done"
  15. Try to get answers BEFORE leaving the ship..what does the current Online postings say or any of your paperwork. We would prefer refund ( prorated) rather than a FCC with theur stipulatiins and conditions,
  16. Cruise line ins is fairly basic and if you live in NY or some other states, you need to buy from their third party rep..not very convenient. Being on medicare with supp ins that won't cover us out of the US, we need a good amount of med ins coveragem along with evac ins to get us home in case of illness or injury.. Have to start looking for our Nov cruise...
  17. Maybe the older couple can give you their fcc. Move to the shortest cruise you can find.,5 days..and use up the fcc thats what we hope to do..
  18. That's correct...but you can enjoy your balcony, the solarium during non family swim hrs and perhaps book a pvt area at the pool . The kiddos will be in the hot tubs, outdoor pools , in restaurants and at the shows, etc.. its family vacation week, probably not what you wanted to hear...
  19. Enjoying this review..great style, photos and helpful info.! We cruised on EDGE in a SV , loved our cabin despite lots of walking to and from the elevator, and we enjoyed the 4 mdr plan..favs were Tuscan and the Greek venue. Also had great lunches at the Eden cafe and Bistro ( upcharge..well worth it).. We are looking forward to a short cruise on BEYOND this fall.... Thanks for sharing!
  20. In AQ class, we have had good luck asking for shrimp, sushi, cheese and fruit. We always bring our own crackers..Celeb crackers are often stale and tasteless. Does not hurt to ask....
  21. Glad they were found..Someone at X really goofed by giving you those tags!. I'd pay the fare and get the bags home safely asap..then argue with X over reimbursement. On our last few cruises we stopped doing walk off because it is a total cluster....unless you are a suite guest. Our next cruise is only for 5 days and we are in a suite so we will walk off with our luggage and a small carry-on or maybe just take carry ons! Will also look into the size bag we can carry on.. does anyone know? .(X is not so great distributing bags once you are on board,...dh has had to search for them a few times!) The tags suggested by Jim,,sounds like a very good idea
  22. Agreed..big miss to not include this. Most newer ships offer one!
  23. Glad to hear photo package prices are down and the discounts apply as well. We always get one,...maybe 12 shots in an album. Helps enjoy the cruise memories..They do an excellent job on E class. From the photo with the guitar player, I see another area displaying bland white items suitable for the next garage sale!
  24. We take whatever they offer....it is what it is We will never hit ZENITH and nowadays the most valuable perks go to suite guests The loyalty program means less as you go up the tiers, & there's less of an incentIve to get to ZENITH Mostly we still like the laundry and included internet minutes for Elite + , and a free gelato &/or specialty coffee, if still offered. We always have a drink package so no need of the free cao Club gathering other than it was a pleasant social event most nights. Spa has port pricing so discount perk is not really anything Priorty boarding is a joke for anyone not in a suite...and even those with the special, boarding day lunch go ahead of AQ Class many times.. no longer a valued perk for us We stopped attending the Sr Officers Party b/c they invited all tiers and place was wall to wall...not a nice party at all. The special sailaways are still fun! Would like more discounted pricing based on loyalty but doubt that will happen.
