  1. We did alot of roaming, distance walking, climbing steps, traversing uneven walkways, snorkeling etc, We def took more physically active excursions, when we were younger. . . Although we are still in fair shape now, we are def a bit lazier We have less energy/desire to "go go go", and prefer less physically active experiences. Half a day exploring is perfect with a return to A/C and a cold drink afterward!
  2. OP Sorry for your loss. I hope you enjoy the cruise with loved ones around you to share memories, and create new ones . Always nice to get "on line" opinions but in this circumstance, and without having a trvl agent, it sounds like you should communicate with Celebrity and the cruise insurer (in case coverage can be applied). It's just finances and paperwork now that you have chosen to cruise.
  3. Would be fun but we stick closer to home these days for our adventures! That's why I enjoy all these "live from" reviews so much! We enjoyed Hawaii but it felt so far away and remote.... We prefer Carib ports which are a short flight from home if an emergency arises.
  4. beautiful gardens at the convent!
  5. we always use a porter..they gather the luggage and smooth the way out either to taxi, your van ..etc Our last porter wheeled everything to our car up in the parking lot for ASCENT. and loaded the luggage. He was great! Def beg for earliest tag..your case was a med emergency not just someone who needs the wheelchair. Time is of the essence to get home!
  6. not sure..but I'd get to the wheelchair area on 5 as early as possible..with your stuff. Husb can grab some buns/ coffee from Cafe baccio..and bring it to you. We have observed many wheelchairs lined up for the escort off early on!
  7. you are planning ahead best you can so all should be well! bthrm floors..= hazard zone. my friend's fall was on a recently mopped wet bthrm floor at the golf club....no sign or warning!
  8. Once you get home you will probably be mostly off your feet except for dr visits and bathroom/ showers.. So hope a good plan gets you home safely. My friend slipped and fell at her golf clubhouse, suffered a bad ankle break, and had to stay off her feet with the broken ankle area raised above her heart. Long ordeal and recovery but she got through it, had surgery, and rehab and is now walking and golfing again!
  9. Any pics of the dress up? Sounds like fun Congrats on the new booking!
  10. Agree it was a great tour other than the worms! I have issue with heights so would not have done well at several points along the way!
  11. small bar..drinks, coffee and water. no snacks
  12. Popular ships for charters are always a rusky booking! But would rather lose the cruise than sail with a large group we are not part of. on board!
  13. totally awesome! things just popping here on LI...NY
  14. Agree with many of your comnents about E Class....Our biggest disappointment in finally cruising in RETREAT class ( BEYOND) was LUMINAE.. Cold food, squishy shrimp, disappearing bread server, uninspired menu .Dark environment. On Ascent, we were happy back in AQ class with BLU. We did enjoy EDEN and othe specialty venues but found the ship crowded... too much sports during the day in indoor spaces and the roof garden ..loud music at the outdoor pool. Fewer calm and quiet areas WE are looking forward to Silhouette..Hopefully, .maybe more like the orig X experience.
  15. If not elite yet, hope you will get there soon! Jim made another great suggestion..cafe Baccio but just pastries. Heard they niw have snall sammies at lunch time.
  16. Beautiful photos..many places and views can be enjoyed from a distance!
  17. Our neighbor is from Istanbul..I will show her the pics to see if she knows all the tourist spots! She, husb and toddler dtr are due for a visit to see her mom..but are happier when the mom comes here for longer visits. Not easy when family is far away..but luckily all were safe when they had the big earthquake Glad the Queen is happy!.
  18. Hope you are feeling less discomfort. The small towel or tee shirt wrap idea for the underarm of crutches.could be good. Pain meds to take the edge off for your trip home could also be in order . Would be great if you could access the van and save the taxi line.. Don't some vans have a built in step? The lip up/ down to thw bathroom is a notorious danger..We try so hard to be careful but trip and falls happen! So sorry!
  19. one of the 4 mdrs will serve a full sit down bkfst..nice menu other options: EDEN cafe counter take out service is usually open...tables are located in EDEN or just outside the Cafe, SPA cafe... limited buffet style with limited seating if you are CAP CLUB Elite.. bkfst is now usually in the Bistro.. not sure if it's plated or buffet style
  20. my post got lost ( operator error) It said something like ..this is a very nice way to remember your trip & some nice artwork. We collect small prints/ paintings/ ceramics from our Carib travels and display at our place in Fl..keeps the tropical vibe going. if my orig post turns up..sorry for dup!
  21. very impressive retrieval skills!
  22. thank you.. for more info and the link...It looks like a great treat..never saw this before in the US..
  23. Sorry you had this issue.. Glad Celeb has been helpful.. I hope the remainder of the cruise goes ok and you are able to disembark and reach Park n Go without too much difficilty. How far must you travel from there? FEEL BETTER SOON!
