  1. Unfortunately sailing on the QM2 is our like other passengers like to sail on Mega Ships with Multi Numbers of Passengers. We prefer sitting at a table of 2 and still communicate with people in the dining room. No not at a table for 6 or 8 that are avail. Those you will not be placed at unless you request it. The ship also does not have family style tables you will join others at. If we wish to dine with others, we can meet up at the Kings Court - the buffet restaurant. I may be a traditionalist but we enjoy the ship and what it stands for. Pls enjoy the ship you like.
  2. I think it is a form of etiquette your passengers to present themselves at the Dining Room on the First Evening. For you to learn where you will be sitting if the restaurant assigns table to you. Learn who your servers will be and not make them think you don't care about the Dining Room table assigned. If you are expected to arrive at a home, wouldn't you want your host to think that the Dinner being made is worth the work behind it. On sailings you will have plenty time to try the other cuisines being offered.
  3. Most of the passengers we sail with do get back and never had to wait for passengers late. Many come early back to settle in back from shore and want to watch the ship depart.
  4. The ship will inform the passengers the time the ship will leave the port. At the same time over the PA and also in the Daily Programme, they will state the time when the gangway will be pulled on board and passengers need to be on board. Normally an average of a half hour prior to departure. This will also apply if it is a tender port. Ships try to be kind but will leave passengers behind at the decision of the Captain. And unfortunately passengers have been left to make their way to the next port. Best to be on board by and before the final time advised.
  5. We use Kaiser Rolls.....seeded or not slightly toasted. More room....bread out inside...More room for Bacon, Iceberg and a Uniform slice of Beef Steak Tomato...And U Have To Use Hellmann's.....NO OTHER....
  6. We find we enjoy our meals within sit in restaurant to relax and also keep the food warn. Restaurant staff in Halifax very genuine good people and very accommodating.
  7. We have sailed Chandris, Holland America, Cunard and decided with Cunard. We are traditional cruisers and really do not care to sail Mega or Party boats. Glitter is not for us. We like the traditional style of sailing with set dinner times, educational lectures etc.. No surf board pools, go carts, ice skating ring, rock climbing etc on board. We have liked it so much we have built loyalty that well supports our bookings. You will learn over the years your preference and style.
  8. We always handle it the traditional way and all works out.
  9. To understand better your postings of bands traveling on board for private dancing groups, are these band exclusive for those groups alone and taking over a room like the Queens Room during an evening? I would like to understand your posting as well as others that have been discussing groups that are not finding space in the Queen Room. And not able to enjoy the dance floor also due to the influx of a particular program. Anything in the Queens Room especially in the evenings are suppose to be open to the entire ship.
  10. 50/50 agreement possibly acceptable. But don't think a Pan Asian will be a permanent done deal. It was removed on the Major Refit of KC. And on our last cruise, PA was not at all an alternative dining in the evening in KC. Since as far back as I can count, the Planetarium seats are always breaking and still not 100% working. But she is special and she will be around for sometime.
  11. Yes.....One and Only Liner..... One of a Kind.... Not really interested in QA Deck Plan. Can't wait for reviews.
  12. Saw the ad for Some Like It Hot! Not the same as the Movie with TC & JL and MM... But looks interesting and may be booking it soon.
  13. Many serve what is equal to McDonalds. My HBP are sherred, loose, seasoned and pan/fried and all love them. Had them this morning.
  14. Unfortunately I enjoyed the rival in 1997.
  15. Even we ourselves need personal refits once in awhile............lol.......
  16. I know thru conversations coming for a chef's - restaurant family experiences, the M'd does the sitting on the sailing before or maybe even start it before that with advance information forwarded. Any changes which would be strange if they didn't get them is expected from the on set. It's our human nature to feel comfortable where we like. If change is for status or location, I don't agree with that as it will not influence the food being served which is the Star of the Show. This last voyage of ours I could sense from the first arrival for lunch in PG the staff was Genuine. From the onset and continued and develop thru the sailing, we looked forward to our meals and even short talks during and after by the entrance of a build relationship. They would definitely would have been insulted if something was offered. We were to this day blessed with the Dining Room Staff we had. Professional all the way. Even gave me tips on Flambe's for home.
  17. Was on her in September and she looks great to us. And we were on the year after the 2016 refit. Many have to understand her constant sailing and the environment she sails in. Also the number of passengers that she takes on at each voyage. At the last Meet & Greet no mention of her looks came up at all.
  18. In Brooklyn, BLT's are not just for breakfast, it's also lunch and favorite diners for dinner.
  19. I like the Basic Structure of BLT including spear of pickle and chips or crispys..
  20. I still am trying to figure out what many are talking about the Mary 2 needs refit? Being on in September she looked pretty good to us. Granted the last time we were on was the year after the last refit. Even our house is always being worked on to look good. We had crew working during the 14 days sailing in a lot of the areas of the ship. Yes we had rust on our balcony pipes but not to much. But you have to understand constantly running in salt water and sailing does affect her in many ways. Even New York's Verranzo Narrow Bridge is constantly being painted. They start to paint it and at the end they start it all over again. Many pass under her after embarking and arriving back into NYC. But take a ride across her and QM2 looks like a Gem compared to her. We see it all the time. Yes we see the carpet on board but look what it goes thru on embarkation day, daily cleaning carts and night before departure. Carts pulled back and forth and walls being banged. To name a few problems. I think she looks pretty good IMHO......
  21. Seen on the Dress Code - Theme Calendar 2023 that CC Member Bluemarble is posting for the QM2 it shows October 22 2023 to November 15 2023 Refit. He must have some insight of activity taking place to the QM2...
  22. True honest service from the beginning with out gestures show the sign of true and honest service they wish to preform and display which makes it a memorable experience. Some have stated in these forum especially those wishing larger tables (6-8), wish to converse with others as a meeting new passengers experience. Others we have notice and we also wish is to enjoy the entire the dining experience. Courteous greeting to some one in passing is a polite gesture. On a last sailing we had two rows ahead of us 5 tables of two that converse so much it was quite disturbing. We were not going to move as the table we had was great. We just beared with it. No monetary gesture should not be offered during a cruise till the appropriate time at the end if wish to offer.
