  1. Been to Vancouver enough times that it isn't a concern. I'd rather have an evening in Victoria, TBH, in order to visit an old favorite restaurant.
  2. My understanding is that the system can auto-cancel. Or, perhaps, someone at PCL is alerted by the system and they would either contact the guest (or TA) and advise to remove a duplicate booking. If system does it, they might get rid of the "wrong" one. I have had a second booking on hold for securing cabin price while waiting for TA to return to work and deal with the re-fare/re-book. It was suggested above you can, but I do not think guests are supposed to do this. Certainly if different names are provided it would work, but each cabin requires a deposit. I wouldn't drag our a decision for two weeks. Also, I am not sure you would get away with holding two or more cabins for weeks and months to final payment date.
  3. As I understand it, Vancouver is a s**t show because in the early processing, all guests from all ships boarding that day are run together. Seems like a dumb way to do it. I have not seen the layout nor process there, but not something I look forward to when we decide to do Alaska. Maybe we will fly to Alaska and do land and then just have Vancouver to end at.
  4. Doubly stupid since you have priority boarding and we were allowed to show up anytime, regardless of any arrival group.
  5. Not surprised they would have this as an excursion, but must be wicked in summer heat and humidity. We have been there a couple of times and took kids once. I wonder if they also have a ship tour to Busch Gardens theme park and Water Country USA. Of course, guests could go on their own. We rarely do a ship tour, but I have yet to see a theme park one offered and wondering it they do. Why am I asking - I can look it up for myself as I often wish other posters would familiarize themselves with Princess.com information. And the answer is: NO.
  6. Even so, isn't there just the one wine of real value in the Caymus selection? Last WMD I was at had Mondavi Reserve Cab - similar to Caymus in price bracket I think (without checking). Anyway, we all have to wait and see what develops.
  7. OMG... you must be replying to the wrong person. This thread started in Princess forum and was moved here where it belongs. I have no need for information on touring from Le Havre thanks.
  8. It is now because the thread was moved from Princess Cruises forum. Didn't need any advice, thanks.
  9. Yes, the Circle Caribbean is the only one that would be a single voyage in that region. Otherwise, a partial Canal is typically 10-nights. A full transit would also be a single voyage from FLL to LA. I think they are usually 14 nights as well. Yes, the West Coast has traditionally been the fastest path, but we never flew out there just to rack up credits. There was one year quite some time back that PCL did a bunch of 3 & 4 nighters out of PE in FL. That really ballooned the Elite numbers. Never seen it repeated since.
  10. You will not get the Final Answer from Princess reps at HQ as all they will tell you is the policy which you already know. You can inquire on board and see what they say. I did see one post in the past week where someone reported that CG and Sabi's were opened up for noon dining on a sea day or two. It might be an experiment or might have been done to alleviate the demand for bookings on that voyage.
  11. Thanks for correcting the record. I forgot about those shorties. The linked reference above clearly indicates the short time frame for <= 5-night voyages.
  12. Silly me. I forgot the 50% off Medallion Net which we do book every voyage. And it is a true benefit since we don't book the Plus or Premier.
  13. It may be a thing of the past (reason unknown). IMO, at doors open time, there should be a priority line allowed in first followed by the other line. Once the flow has begun, it doesn't matter much I suppose. As long as there is a line of waiting guests outside the terminal, there should be two lines I think. Some may say the benefit text reads "priority boarding". However, the guest doesn't get priority boarding if they do not have priority access to the building and check-in process that occurs in advance of boarding the ship. It may be premature to say this is all done and done and could still be a work-in-progress.
  14. According to Carmen Roig's latest webinar, there was no mention of priority line(s) - either deleted or continuing. Could not get an answer during webinar and waiting for response on follow-up questions. Whether she will say anything in the next one in two days or not is unknown. Reports from PE Terminal 2 in recent days indicate a new system is already in place. Unclear how it is. A current ship report involved a situation where the ship was late arriving to PE and so expect boarding process was also delayed, so not a good time to get a read on any new changes.
  15. 1. Recently, PCL has taken their "lead-in" cabin categories from Inside to Mini-Suite and made the lowest level (nornally "F cabins, like "IF"... so OF, BF, DF, ME) as GTY-only, so guest does not select an actual cabin. Most guests book these hoping to get an upgrade. For these bookings, the deposit is Non-Refundable. All other categories and situations like picking your own cabin do come with Refundable deposits. Booking a voyage wiithin the Final Payment (FP) Date, requires full payment and deposit portion is non-refundable. If you are including the Plus Cruise Package at time of booking, that will flow with the rules of the booking type you made. You don't really pay a deposit on the Plus portion of the fare. You can wait and book the Plus on embarkation day. 2. The FP Date is based on the length of voyage with the minimum now 90 days (was 60 pre-Covid pauses). Look here: https://www.princess.com/legal/passage_contract/ for information on payments and refunds. 3.PCL doesn't match TA pricing. You have to find the right kind of TA to get a cash discount off the fare. Some rebate back OBC or their own gift cards. I like a cash discount. 4. Cannot help with casino offers, but I do know you have to be invited and qualify in some way due to past play in the casino.
  16. Yes to all the above. As for the email you received, these are boiler-plate things and PCL is notorious for not getting documentation corrected. That said, the official launch for the change was supposed to be August 1 and perhaps the email will be altered by then (don't hold me to that one!). There may be an earlier implementation of sorts. Who knows? But it doesn't matter anyway.
  17. It stands for Non-Commissioned Fare. Every PCL cruise fare quote you see consists of a fixed amount of NCF per day and a variable amount of commissionable fare (depends on cabin category, etc). The NCF is the same on all regular voyages and is less for longer voyages and world cruises. Note that a 21-nighter if often three 7-nighters B2B2B and nothing changes with the NCF. If you book with a TA that offers a cash discount off the cruise fare, that discount is calculated on the Princess list price, minus the NCF.
  18. Can't be correct. The CB would normally arrive sometime prior to an official 7:00am port time when disembarking commences soon after. They used to depart at 4:00pm, but I had read that was now backed up to 3:30pm. Or 3pm? So the turnaround is something less than 12 hrs... maybe as little as 9?
  19. Why oh why does PCL keep trying to fix things that don't need fixing and not fix those that do? There has been some discussion as you will know on various threads, following Carmen Roig's webinar on July 12. IMO, it was a solution in search of a problem and don't understand why the old system wouldn't have kept working fine. I suppose need to look at this as a 1-off situation if they were having a late start to check-in and therefore MANY more guests will have arrived at the terminal by the time doors opened. You didn't mention the time doors opened, so maybe it isn't a big deal (the new way).
  20. For some reason (I was not notified), my post and one or two others are now gone from this thread and yet there are multiple times that posters have referred to themselves or fellow cruisers/companions as luddites - relating to the technology. I imagine the poster involved complained as he did reply having taken offense thinking of some other meaning. I suppose something like "technology-challenged" is a new-speak term that would play better.
  21. Nope, but you should ask and look on the port page/forum for Le Havre.
  22. Out every day??? I would never elect to exchange currency on the ship, but I did break some bills a number of times last October. They were out of certain denominations one day, but I was informed they would have more in a day or two (forget exact answer).
  23. Most of the time I have seen higher or similar pricing with restricted. I would never book restricted with EZ-Air. Takes away all the advantages of EZ-Air - namely can re-fare or even switch carriers for better deal.
  24. I have seen him in videos and aware of his excellent reputation among guests.
