  1. Lucerne is beautiful. We took the train from ZRH to Lucerne and walked to our hotel (Marriott) from the station. Stayed a few nights then took the train to Lake Como. If the OP can swing it, Lucerne is a great suggestion.
  2. The train from ZRH is super easy to use. It is in the lower level of the airport; just follow the signs. There are ticket kiosks on the level above the trains but we bought ours from the train station office where they were super helpful with lots of information. You can also download their app. Link to Swiss Train Information
  3. Yes, ordering from the MDR menu (viewed on your smart TV) is available during main dining room hours of operation. There is no additional charge but a tip upon delivery is always appreciated.
  4. Oh my goodness. You are flying in on the day of the cruise compounded by the current airport, airline, and baggage situation. I broke out into a sweat just thinking about that. 😰 Go straight to the port and check in.
  5. We have had our embarkation port changed at the last minute also. We were told to plan accordingly, with no compensation or offer of assistance, so you lucked out there. Time and money took care of getting to the new port. Passengers disembarking were given internet access in order to “plan accordingly” also. We looked at it as a new adventure and didn’t blame HAL because they had to roll with the punches, just as we did.
  6. I have only ever been implored for a 10 on a survey once. Ironically, it was by the two room stewards I was least likely to give a good score to, let alone a 10. All other crew have let their actions speak for their work ethic. Those are the ones I gave an honorable mention and a high score to.
  7. Good choice. I was recently on a Princess cruise and there was no forward viewing area and no wraparound prom. The Eurodam has both. Have a great cruise!
  8. LHR is currently a nightmare. We needed the full 4 hours we allotted to get to our gate. On top of that, there was road construction all around the airport. We drove around and around before finally making it in. SO true. 😂
  9. Thank you for the thread, pictures, and commentary. Apparently you are of the lucky few who got to sail with Seth. I’m guessing he made no mention of his departure while you were with him. Sorry to hear you have COVID. I hope you are feeling well soon.
  10. Assuming they’d already run through the process with the portion of their group who made it onto the flight, it does point to the app as being the problem. Was it a problem with the way one of the adults was processing his/her group of kids? Would love to know but I doubt we will. Since they got it resolved in time to watch their flight take off, it seems the app may not be as intuitive as it should be. I’m guessing they didn’t start earlier in the process with the 72 hours they had to work out the kinks.
  11. Yes. And, also, you won’t pay the price that you see advertised like you do in the UK because… taxes. Don’t try and figure it out; it’s not worth the aggravation. But Here’s a link if want to be annoyed. Sorry. 🤷‍♀️ Again.
  12. Pre-Covid (because I can’t recall if this still happened when I was on my December HAL cruise): Your room will be ready upon embarkation. You can order room service breakfast on day of disembarkation. You can remain in your cabin until your disembarkation # is called. Of course, this has varied wildly since the restart, depending on positive cases & staff availability, but I am hoping it remains once things return to the new normal.
  13. Well, if we’re going to be technical, it’s correct but not complete. Yes, ferries are included in the water portion of the entry guidelines. At that point in the conversation, however, I don’t think either of us could have dealt with muddier waters. 😂
  14. Ohhhh. We should probably explain that to the OP. @vivienne-j, since Canada no longer has pennies, your purchase will be rounded up or down to the closest 5 cents/nickel. So, for example, if it rings up as $5.13, you will be required to pay $5.15, even if they tell you it is $5.13. Sorry. 🤷‍♀️
  15. Thank you, and I understand the confusion. You are a gem. 😊 The Government of Canada bears the blame. There is absolutely no way that most of those who aren’t boaters would realize the distinction. I am honestly shocked that I was able to bring clarity! I thought that was a losing battle for sure. 😂
  16. Ditto, one more try. Land, air, and water. Water meaning boaters. If you go to the page pertaining to cruise ship travel on that same website: LINK Two screenshots; pertinent points in red.
  17. I flew into Canada on the day (April 1st) COVID testing was lifted for AIR AND LAND BORDERS only. The testing was not lifted for cruising. In fact, Transport Canada stipulates that COVID testing is mandatory for cruising. I feel like I am in The Twilight Zone. 😂
  18. Sorry, but I don’t understand how that link proves your point. Am I being punked? 😂
  19. Under Canada’s Cruise Line Operator Obligations, HAL is required to ensure passengers take a pre-embarkation COVID-19 molecular test. You did not need to test on turnaround as you were on a B2B and were not disembarking in a Canadian port. You’re not required to take another COVID test under those circumstances.
  20. The CBSA already knows you completed it because it’s tied to your passport.
  21. Government of Canada COVID-19 Cruise Ship Travel Requirements
  22. Depends whose opinion you read. The waiver didn’t force Canada to open for that particular cruise season. It has an east coast too. I don’t know where you’re getting your information but all cruises which dock in Canada at any point in the itinerary require a pre-embarkation covid test.
  23. That literally made me LOL. Getting Screeched In: LINK
