    The program is released to the US much later than Canada and the UK. Apparently two years later! 😂 I remember watching the Koningsdam in Canada and waiting forever for it to air in the US so my husband could see it.

    So true! It used to annoy the heck out of me when the browsers forced you out. Had to use a VPN to force my way back in. They still try to “correct” you but at least we’re now allowed to respond that “we’re sure”. 😂

    Their UK website leaves a lot to be desired but the AU site has a good description, with pics, of the Avalon Imagery II, which is the ship we will be on. One of the biggest draws, for us, was the Panorama Suites.

    We were in 10006 and found the balconies to be about 1’ less in depth than a regular verandah on the non-spa decks. (Previously had a verandah on Deck 7 and Deck 5.) It also seemed to be narrower but that may have just been an illusion given the width. There will be 2 chairs and a small side table. Cozy but still a balcony.

    I am looking forward to the new season! Hopefully it won’t take too long to air in the US. The Viking longship was interesting as I am getting ready to go on my first river cruise soon (Avalon). Didn’t watch it this time because it was time for the 5 o’clock news. 🗞

    Oh my gosh, we originally had a Spring TA with 7 days at sea, but couldn’t make it to one of the ports (weather in the Azores) and ended up with 8 straight days at sea. That was definitely one day too much. 😳

    Wow, great price for a 21-day itin! I love it when something nice happens. I guess my confusion lay in the fact that I thought the October cruise was the only 150th celebration but if they’re going to do it again, I may book that instead! 😂

    I am very confused by this because I am booked on the 150th anniversary cruise leaving from Rotterdam on Oct 15th. I tried to find the itinerary you are speaking of but it is not showing up on the HAL or online cruise site I searched on.

    Just turned on the TV and the Koningsdam is on the Smithsonian channel right now. They just did the hairpin turns on the bus and I panicked. 😂

    Nieuw Amsterdam does not have the separate Club Orange dining. Only the pinnacle-class ships do. You may be thinking of the Nieuw Statendam.

    We have taken our wine to the Maitre d’, in advance, and they have made the proper arrangements for storage and delivery at dinner time. If the bottle is not finished they will store it and bring it out for the next evening, or you can arrange for them to send it to a different restaurant or bar if you have reservations elsewhere.

    Yes please! We have an upcoming trip to Seattle and have decided to tag on an Alaskan cruise. Would be interested in any and all commentary you can provide, including embarkation/disembarkation details. Thank you!

    Wow, only 20 guests! I imagine the crew find that a bit of a relief if they are short-staffed. I am curious about your comment of a “different dynamic”. What is typical, in your experience, and is this a positive or a negative?

    In order of preference, we’ve enjoyed ocean cruises on HAL, Cunard, and Princess. We did a lot of research when deciding on a river cruise and Avalon seems to be a good fit. Final payment is Monday and we look forward to the experience.

    I’ve only ever received an upsell when booking with a PCC. Never received one when I booked through a TA. If you have booked with a PCC for your October cruise, keep an eye on your junk mail folder starting 4 weeks out. That might be where they’re going if you have never seen one.
