  1. Before they built the tunnel, the only way to access the terminal was by ferry. I still use the ferry. It’s a kinder, gentler, experience. 😂 Not to mention scenic.
  2. Good choice. Hopefully you’re not flying in the day of. Have a great cruise!
  3. I boarded a Princess ship in March and it was a horrendous ordeal. Red Hook is in Brooklyn. @rafinmd, Roy, it’s nice to see your trip reports again. Smooth sailing. ⛴
  4. I see you’re in Oakville. We use Oakville United Taxi. They have exceptional service. I get a text when they’re enroute and then, again, when they are outside. I find them very responsive, reliable, and easy to deal with. They have a good flat rate with a 10% discount if you use their app. (Although I see the rate has gone up since we used them in March. Darned gas prices.) Anyway, I highly recommend!
  5. Yes, there’ll be outdoor drinking establishment ordinances they need to comply with.
  6. Thank you so much for the great review and the awesome pictures. Love the idea of a lap check-in for the walkers! I sure hope SeaTac gets their act together soon. They weren’t that great pre-covid either. You have discovered the reason why you are not getting the mailers but your husband is. You do the bookings but you both have mariner #’s. So, to the computer, you are booking trips but your husband is not. I look at it as twice the opportunity to book a private sale because you’ll each get different ones. 😂 You’ll have to log into his account to see them though. Anyway, great trip report! Thank you.
  7. Oh, thank goodness! I was finding the green font too hard to read so I had resorted to skimming for pictures. 😂 And speaking of pictures… yours are gorgeous. Thank you for sharing!
  8. I use a cab company, Oakville-Pearson, as they have an inexpensive flat-rate service, scaled by location. 10% discount if you book through their app. Look online for the cab companies in your area to see if they offer Pearson flat-rates and app discounts. They’re a lot more reasonable than a car service.
  9. Except — when people get sick on the ship — there will be testing.
  10. The ArriveCAN submission is tied to your passport information. The ships are responsible for ensuring all passengers have their QR codes prior to boarding. They are the ones who will want to see it. CBSA already sees it with your passport information when they receive the manifest from the ship.
  11. Let me rephrase this. Are you boarding a ship in Vancouver, cruising to Alaska, then returning to Vancouver?
  12. Darn. My ad blocker won’t let me in. Or, rather, the Ottawa Citizen won’t let me in with my ad blocker. 😂
  13. My impression is that ArriveCAN won’t be going away so much as morphing into a conduit/data collection point for advance customs declarations, e-pass (facial recognition, trusted traveler and passport information, arrival & departure records, alerts & flags, financial transactions). Something like my Starbucks app where I can order ahead to a specific location, tap pay, then pick it up at the drive-thru or inside. Rewards might be a nice selling feature for ArriveCAN. 😂
  14. Are you leaving Canada and then re-entering? (i.e., a Vancouver-return trip) If so, that is the reason you have to make another ArriveCAN submission.
  15. Sorry, but I am unclear on this post. The Norwegian Sun hit an iceberg and Celebrity was hit by a landslide?
  16. The train station is literally right next to the cruise terminal… approximately 3 minutes by taxi or a 1km walk. Log into your booking, click on the last day of your itinerary, and you should see what transportation offers they have available.
  17. Did you book through a Holland America Personal Cruise Consultant (PCC) or a travel agent? I would be getting them involved. You should be able to find your PCC contact within one of the emails if you booked through HAL. You could also try contacting the Mariner Society and see if they can offer any assistance: Mariner_Society@hollandamerica.com 800-547-9139
  18. I wonder if you posted on the Holland America Facebook page whether you could get some form of response. Also, the next time you speak with a representative, ask them for their contact information, before they put you on hold, in case you get disconnected again. Good luck.
  19. St John’s Marine Terminal 1 Water St St. John's, NL A1C 1A1
  20. One of the drawbacks, for us, was the prevalence of smoking onboard. (It is French, after all. lol) It wouldn’t prevent us from sailing with them, but it is certainly a deterrent.
  21. I have been researching Feenstra Rijn Lijn (Netherlands) as an add-on to our Avalon cruise. It looks quite nice.
  22. Darn. Guess I’m back to nature hikes searching for mushrooms. I mean wildlife. 🙃
  23. 7:00 am!! Didn’t it used to be at 6:00? 😭 Maybe I’m just being hopeful. Also, was the guy drinking cold specialty coffee? 😲
