  1. The first cruise I booked with Carnival was back in 2009 and was a penthouse suite. I booked it with a “cruise manager” at the local TA office. Never tried to get me a price match, and I couldn’t get an invoice from her. No OBC. No champagne; nothing for our anniversary. Back in the 80s, another TA made payroll with my cash and I lost $900 on that one because I didn’t have a credit card. They then filed bankruptcy. 🤷‍♀️ There must be good TAs out there but I haven’t found one. And I have quit looking. Good luck.
  2. I’ve actually done this home made Chex mix several times. I don’t put nuts. Just pretzels, cereal, gold fish. Sometimes Chinese crackers. To the person who said to bring it in the original containers, since it’s made with margarine and spices and cooked at a low temp, that wouldn’t work. I need something crunchy to snack on at night and the stuff carnival offers is too heavy and calorie dense. As I have said previously, giving little bowls of free spicy nibbles would probably increase drinking amongst those of us who would never get the cheers package but still drink a good amount. I suggested that to J Heald years ago online and his shortsighted response was something about guests digging in the same bowls would be unsanitary. 🙄 SMH😔
  3. No doughnuts in MDR or buffet. Here’s the doughnut menu at the JavaBlue cafe. No plain or glazed. I’m guessing they’re $2-3 each. Donuts Torched Meringue: Madagascar vanilla, slow-cooked Italian meringue Guava Cream Cheese: brioche donut, condensed guava & cream center, feuilletine Strawberry: natural strawberry preserve, brûlée custard Bacon Caramel: hickory smoked bacon, maple glazed, sea salt caramel Dark Chocolate: nutty butter, cocoa glaze, ginger cookie crumble Vanilla: coconut flan custard, crackling metallic caramel Introducing new items to your child while on a cruise is the perfect time. In fact, some folks have their kids eat off the adult menu for that purpose. Maybe use this as an opportunity for that. His future spouse will thank you for it.
  4. I’m not too crazy about the Sunshine’s protein options. Unless they have salmon which is rare. The first thing I do is walk over to Cucina and get 2 orders of just shrimp. They’re bigger shrimp. Then over to Mongolian and get a bowl of the veggies , noodles etc. Takes a little longer but the results are delicious. 😁
  5. If you’re in a suite, then after going into the priority area, stay over to the doors on the LEFT as that’s the door the suite people go through. People tend to not listen to instructions and walk over there only to be told you’re not going through the door unless you’re in a suite. Then the whole doorway gets gridlocked and you can’t get through.
  6. Hmm. Thanks for the heads up. I was planning on pre-paying my Internet, but I guess I will not. I would rather see the credit come off my S&S card if I ask for a refund. Uh, I mean, when I ask for a refund.
  7. I just received notice of this too. So less service for more money? Yeah? What the heck, Carnival !🤬. I ALWAYS keep my tips in place AND pay extra to dining and cabin personnel. Sometimes I even give the girl in the restroom a $20 because I have done that type of work and I hated it. Now I’m hearing about people leaving cash in the MDR. ??? This is crazy. I’m seriously thinking of joining the ever growing masses and pulling my tips and just paying people at the end of the cruise, like it was done years ago. WHO paid those “behind-the-scenes” people in the 1980s? Maybe if we all did this, these cruise lines would stop this ridiculous game and pay staff appropriately. As far as the internet, which I need because I work, the only time it is even worth it is on the newer ships. I’m on the Elation in a few months and will prepay my internet, and if Wi-Fi is not working brilliantly, I will be getting my $$ refunded. Okay. Done with my rant. Maybe I’m just “hangry” cause it’s dinner time.
  8. Me neither. I checked my offers for Charleston and nothing for $50. I also checked incognito so that you can’t see my VIFP number. Again, nothing for $50.
  9. My DH was seasick on the last cruise on MG on a Dec sailing. I only had expired over-the-counter medication but it worked. Sort of. I was able to go to GS and they gave me a few free packets. We also bring 4 cans of ginger ale. Emitrol is a good anti nausea medication and can be taken by kids and expectant women. They used to have on the buffet several fruits, some of which were green apples. Just bananas now because of cost cutting. I went to the lady at the podium in the Lido and she asked the head kitchen person, who evidently had to go look “in storage” to get one. Next time, I’m going to have my DH to get the patches. He was either miserable or sleeping through the entire cruise. I’m curious if any of these are non-drowsy. He literally missed the whole cruise.
  10. Parking at the terminal is $17/day. We used Cruise Time Parking and it was $10/day. Easy to use.
  11. Thanks Fire. So, if the cruise is Nov 2023, I check in 45 days prior, and then at that time, that’s when I can get reservations for shows?
  12. We haven’t cruised royal in years. We are going on the wonder of the seas next November. We are having trouble figuring out how to make reservations for the aqua show, etc. How far in advance are we allowed to make these reservations? are reservations required only for the aqua show? Any other show? Thanks.
  13. The suites on MG were completely clean and ready. We were able to drop our bags and STAY.
  14. We are now on MG. We are Plat and have a suite this time. I was surprised but the suites boarded first. People headed for the door to exit the building and if you didn’t have a suite on your boarding pass, then they wouldn’t let you through.
  15. On the MG now and received complimentary bottle the first night in the steakhouse. You need to ask for it.
  16. I just looked back to embark day and the menu was the same as I posted for tonight’s menu at P&A. Sorry.
  17. I’m on MG now. Here’s the menu for tonight.
  18. Well, I am on board and guest services says I do have my 25th milestone credit. I called the milestone department 3 days ago. No worries. 😊
  19. Yay! Although I have absolutely no plans on sailing on the Vista, I’m along for the read! I love your wonderful reviews.
  20. I called and asked for the milestone credit back in September (for my Dec cruise) but they wouldn’t give it to me for my December cruise. Told me to call back closer to my sail date of December 3. She said Carnival likes to wait closer to sail date because people make changes on cabins closer to sail date so my OBC amount may change. So I called in a few days ago. She said no problem. I asked what I should do if the milestone credit is not on my account when I arrive on board and she said to talk to guest services. She said my account should reflect it though. I think she’s probably just pushing me off on someone else but who knows. Seems like there are usually 3 answers to the same question at Carnival. We will see. I’ll report back my experience if I can.
  21. I keep mine on cellular until about 2 miles out. I set my alarm to remind myself to change to airplane mode. I’m not sure if it has to be in airplane mode to use the hub app, but it’s possible.
  22. Yes. This is exactly what I did. I reached the 25 milestone on a 5-day $250 inside on Sunshine a few cruises ago. Next week we are in an ocean suite on Mardi Gras. You must call the milestone department ahead by a few days. They wouldn’t do it too far in advance because in case you end up upgrading. I just called yesterday and she flagged my account.
  23. Depends on the ship. Sunshine had great Wi-Fi with premium in September. I’m getting value Wi-Fi on Mardi Gras next week because the connection is really good. where does this 10 percent discount come from? Does this reflect a discount after you add to the shopping cart?
