  1. I understand your point and also agree. But from the standpoint of Princess, it is a cabin that is available for sale. Bids are accepted after final payment is due. Most passengers who need an accessible cabin usually do it when the cruise first opens. It is the rare occasion that an paid passenger "suddenly" needs to move to an accessible cabin. (I have heard of this happening at the last minute). I requested to tour a couple of cabins when the Grand was sailing at less capacity. I was given a key to an accessible mini-suite. I was shocked to see a scooter parked outside another regular balcony door (I think). I don't know if it was a visitor or someone who could not get the scooter through the door. But was surprised that Princess did not upgrade them to the open cabin. But then, again, why should Princess do that for free?
  2. This isn't so bad, if you take in to consideration that this works out better for flight times, immigration/customs, same day travel, and check in, enjoy Vancouver.
  3. The Discovery Princess is one of Princess' newest ships and she is reporting horrible connections on her Mexican cruises. I didn't have any trouble on the Grand Princess (one of her oldest ships) while out and about on the Pacific Ocean.
  4. Nobody has done this port yet. I was told I needed to get it 2 weeks before boarding the ship. Not sure what the "latest" requirement is. You will need wi-fi service if you try to do this from the ship. As far as I know, Princess does not offer free wi-fi for passengers to get documents. Some posters have said there is a one day price. No one knows if you will be denied boarding or disembarkation. Everyone visiting needs to have K-ETA.
  5. I use huge binder clips to weigh curtain down.
  6. Thanks...I think I will stay out of this conversation. You are right again. I, in my mind, was thinking Princess Premier Package. I have my own thread about Princess trying to confuse me with the Princess Packages (wifi/gratuity/internet) and the "Beverage" package (drinks only/but can be bought independently of cabin mate). Princess needs to STOP with the confusing names. I wonder how many actually purchase the beverage packages without crew appreciation/Medallion net? adios, sayonara, aloha, au revoir, farewell.
  7. My TA always marks my booking "no upgrade" per my instructions. I was able to place a bid from an interior to a balcony recently (my choice). My understanding is that the bid can be entered AFTER final payment. The bigger question is when will I find out? Hasn't been decline yet.
  8. @wowzz I'm making all kinds of apologies today. Yes...I meant to say Premier Beverage Package. I did know that (honest). You have added some very valuable information. I would never see myself purchasing this package (rare social drinker), AND I have favorite locations in the theater that probably would not be in the location Princess picks. It is, again, an attempt for Princess to embellish the packages without it costing them any real money.
  9. From my understanding: A section will be reserved for passengers with Princess Plus beverage package. As you know, what Princess considers a "good" location is not always meshed with what a passenger would like. I have not heard back from many who have taken advantage of this reserved seating area. That does sound a very large blaring alarm. It is probably going over as well as their new premium desserts. Would love to hear from passengers that have sat in these seats.
  10. Really E-Bay for $59.99? That's ridiculous. Worth maybe $5.00 total.
  11. I had a recipe. Pretty much a good white bread recipe. Make balls, dip in butter, roll in sugar/cinnamon, stack in a bundt pan. You can do a cheater version with Pillsbury rolls.
  12. Instead of back to backs, the Crown Princess will do a South Pacific. The Emerald will do a couple of summer voyages to Hawaii (this is new). Hawaii season is usually dedicated from November through April. It used to be same ship b2b2b2b2b Hawaii. Then they changed it to once a month (with Mexico off weeks). Then this year, the Crown has done many b2bs. Now they are adding summer. There is definitely a desire for Hawaii. I read somewhere that the Crown will move to San Francisco later this year.
  13. Ocean Medallion "desk" on board fixes very little. You will often be told that they "have to take a screenshot and send it to land based". Then you wait and wait and wait and go back. A few times, it has been fixed. More often than not, they tell you to delete the app and start all over (don't do this). They can do simple things like teach you how to navigate the app, get Ocean Navigator on your home page (ship.princess.com). and a few other lessor issues.
  14. You are correct. I did know that.... What was I thinking????? I always can count on certain posters to keep me on the straight and narrow. Mahalo Nui Loa
  15. Me too, I don’t seem to have the issues others are having. Just the first time post Covid.
  16. I see it as immediate cash flow added to Princess. They get to use your money for a year or two before having to give it back to you as OBC. Who knows what the policy would be then. Non-refundable, again?
  17. If you need to change information on either your Japan entry form or K-ETA, it is really quite easy. Sign back in to your account and find the place to edit. I changed hotels in Yokohama (long story...always double book). It was very easy to do but I did print out a "new" QR code; in case it changed. It looks like they are beginning to open ARRIVAL times on the app at about 39 days from your cruise. It would really be nice if: 1. Elites were given early access. 2. Princess would send everyone a notice that the app was ready.
  18. On one of the roll calls, someone posted about Goodwill Guides. I apologize for not giving credit where credit is due. I was so excited to read/find this website that I couldn't sleep. I had to put a rush on it since one of the requirements is that you book something 21 days BEFORE your cruise leaves. I begged and pleaded since I am actually inside that time period. So far, I have had one response that they will try to find me a guide for Nagasaki. https://www.japan.travel/en/plan/list-of-volunteer-guides/ I was just going to wander around the ports so if I can't secure a guide, I will be okay. But it would be so helpful. They even have one for arrival/departures at the airport. Highlights: No tipping You pay for all transportations and entry fees. You pay for meals. You offer "omiyage" from your hometown. https://gogonihon.com/en/blog/omiyage-culture-in-japan/ Most of the time, these volunteers want to practice their English. They are not "professional tour guides."
  19. Maybe, just maybe, Princess + Port Authorities + Fabulous IT department communicate by Messenger Pigeon?
  20. I usually am in agreement with @PacnGoNow. But... 1. Elite status has absolutely nothing to do with being able to pick an arrival time earlier than anyone else. 2. So far, no earlier than 59 days...but as late as 39 days. There is no pattern or logical reasoning to determine when your cruise will open. Same ship, same port, different times. location, location, location of port doesn't matter. different ship same ports doesn't matter. I start checking 75 days out...every day. twice a day. whenever I pick up my phone. Love to be surprised!
  21. LAX transfers were explained to me like this (if all goes as expected): Busses leave cruise terminal (latest by 9;30 ish) to drop off passengers at LAX. Busses drop off last passengers at departure level by 10:15; circles around to arrival terminal (30 minutes). Busses pick up late arriving passengers by 11 to drop them off at the pier by noon. I am surprised that EZ. Air let you book a flight that arrives at 11:20. By the time you clear baggage claim, it may be as late as 11:45/noon. Did you purchase your flight through EZ Air? Did you try to purchase a Princess transfer? EZ Air and transfers are not connected. EZ AIr is third party consolidation booking agency.
  22. I was waitlisted for an excursion. About a month before the cruise, it opened up. Don't know if they scheduled another one or there were cancellation. Ended up not booking since I made other arrangements.
  23. https://www.staradvertiser.com/2023/03/07/breaking-news/kilauea-volcano-activity-pauses-after-61-days/ One more miss…the passengers on an excursion to Hawaii Volcano NP would have seen activity if Hilo was your first port.
  24. Sorry for the tangent….looking at a flight from JFK to HNL. What is considered a good fare (on Hawaiian)? All I see is $443 for main cabin. Will it drop for fall?
  25. Jones Act is for cargo. Passenger Vessel Service Act is for passenger cruise ships, Ruby could not possibly do Hawaii in 10 days. I can’t speak for Alaska. And it is too late (aka lazy) for me to do research on your voyage, but only speculating. Which is your first/last port in Hawaii? You do present a very interesting scenario. Are they charging you extra for that sea day? 16 for the price of 15 is a super deal.
