  1. In the past, this has been a difficult concept for some posters to understand.
  2. When Princess started claiming the fastest internet at sea, they were using the same provider as royal carribbean, so it puzzled me how Princess could be faster. I just had a quick look at Royal Carribbean, and now I see ***THEY*** have the fastest internet at sea!
  3. Well, when a store that calls itself "Best Buy", isn't... And a store named "Dollar Tree" sells everything for a dollar-and-a-quarter... "Dollar-and-a-Quarter Tree" ? Princess can certainly say they have the best wifi at sea! Heck ... why be so short-sighted ... best wifi on the planet.
  4. Pleasure. Get out more? If I go out, it's way to stressful to figure out if I should tip...
  5. A little hard to believe, based on your years of singing the same song here... This thread is about someone embarking on a cruise from a US port. If you understand the need for tips to survive, why have you made so many posts in this thread? You seem to want to disagree with everyone, and prove that only you have the right answer. Please continue. I love when stereotypes come true. Here is a quote from a post I read on cruise critic: "At the end of the day, despite my previous comments, the best thing is for everyone to tip what they are happy with." Amusingly, It's from YOUR post in 2019. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2673344-tipping-at-caribbean-restaurants/page/2/#comment-57750620 So, how 'bout just letting everyone do as they wish? At t end of the day, despite my previo
  6. In quoting my post, you seem to have overlooked a portion of it. I don't want to burst your bubble, but 'europe' encompasses more than the UK.
  7. my experience in europe... Most hotels add 'service' to the bill. Apparently, this is ok with the locals.
  8. You can compliment your bad credit card experience with a bad ATM experience. My recollection is that the transaction fee was $8 .
  9. Can you do a connection, and stay overnight at the layover airport area? Many years ago, we were joining a ship in Cancun... Flight was Boston, Houston Hobby, Cancun. There was a blizzard poised to arrive in boston, right at our departure time. Called the airline, got on the next flight to houston. Found a hotel (at my expense) then flew onward the next morning. It was part of a tour group, the people who stayed with the group joined the ship a few days later... (but they did have a tour conductor to comiserate with them) The only problem was that it was during a rodeo in Houston, and we had to drive a ways to find a hotel room. If I were you, I would try to fly to atlanta, or memphis, etc. as soon as possible., Then, just a short flight onward on Friday night / Saturday morning.
  10. My experience with cancelled ports has been... Up front, the port charges are usually over $100. When there is a refund for a missed port, it is usually less than $10.
  11. There are 220v outlets under the bed. The night stand light plug into them. That is how the beds and nightstands can switch from queen to twin. This is Mr. Astro Flyer's picture: Posted in this thread: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2838029-power-outlets-around-bed-on-princess-ships/
  12. Being basically a 14 year old ... I had to read that over and over, to decide if it was naughty...
  13. You don't have to accept their first offer. Princess called Mrs. Roberto with an offer. I was unreachable, and she told them I was unreachable. They assume she was negotiating, and upped the offer. Then upped it some more. And more. We finally accepted a move over on Friday afternoon around 1600, for a Saturday departure. I had the distinct impression that they were anxious. On the other hand, some one else might accept a low-ball offer and squeeze you out. It's like when the gate agent comes on an overbooked flight, and tries to get someone to give up their seat. Sometimes there will be a college kid who will take a later flight for a bag of peanuts. 1700 on a Friday in Newark ... airline can offer price of full fare coach ticket, and no one will bite...'
  14. Sadly, I don't think they say accenture, the way they once did. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2643776-ocean-medallion-included-accessories/?do=findComment&comment=58039065
  15. Do you know what sarcasm is? You seem very concerned with how others tip.
  16. I'm glad that you have found something which works for you.
  17. My dad now has a corkscrew with a wooden shoe handle, for the same reason...
  18. Better from an app, than your surgeon... Ooops. For the grammar police: Better from, an app than from "one's" surgeon...
  19. Personally, I would be afraid to give such a company my credit card details...
  20. Mr. Ombud ... thank you for clarifying what apparently Mr. wow meant. Your post is much more useful to the original poster. As the original poster has cc dining, it is very likely that they will 'know' their wait staff, and can arrive at a particular time every night ... if they so choose.
  21. My father felt that was the reason they made kids...
