  1. Where ever you read that waiters don't take alcohol orders has steered you wrong. Waiters and assistants do so. If you have traditional dining, they may have your drink ready when you arrvie..
  2. I think this is where staff and crew complete surveys on passengers.
  3. It seems like the global innovators may have taken a break from medallion app development, and stopped by to help out our beloved cruise critic.
  4. That's because he had spy tradecraft from Get Smart. It may be different than it used to be, but many of the captain bios mention that he is married to someone he met on board. Romano, for instance.
  5. Well, in port everglades, the berthing fees paid by the ship cover line handlers, steveadoring/longshoreman, etc. As far as I have seen, no one has ever tipped the line handlers, or the guy driving the fork lift moving bags to the ship. As far as I know all the steveadoring/longshore services include all the personel. Not a fact for sure, but your statement about what is obvious is clearly wrong.
  6. I once had a multi day disagreement with a poster here. A few days later, I read one of his posts where he said he hadn't been on princess in 9 years. There is a poster here from las vegas, who follows up on many topics. He has admitted that he doesn't cruise on princess. So now, you want people who are trying out other cruise lines to not be able to post here? Sounds great. Where is the system to vet all posters? #1 Answer ... survey says ... it is up to every gentle reader to skip / discount posts on their own. Almost as if they had personal responsibility.
  7. Paw in the air! Paw in the air! 2 .. singing praises. What do I win? Cheap Ship Prizes?
  8. Thank you, Jesus. I can't decide which was more awful ... the show, or Jerry O'Connell
  9. I drive by terminal v, a week or two ago, in Miami. At the adjacent garage, they had a big sign that said "Virgin Parking" Do they check? Does it apply to everyone in the vehical? Seemed very intrusive.
  10. Yes. Requirement of maritime law.
  11. I love this. Another princess 'emergency'! To Mr. Shiner6 ... you better go to the nut museum. It's an emergency!!!
  12. Thank god! Years ago, they used to toss some sugar cubes in a shot glass in the center of the baked alaska. Add some sterno, and light it for the parade. You have not lived until you have (accidently) enjoyed one of these sterno soaked sugar cubes in a bit of cake. I have net eaten baked alaska since...
  13. I have had it both ways on princess. Where they open the bow, and other crew-only areas to passengers. I don't know how or why they decide...
  14. They have a warehouse in miramar, if you really want to stock up.
  15. A lot of the cruise line commedians do the same thing for many years. On Princess, Glenn Hirsch, Billy Vader and Jeff Peterson were around for a long time. I enjoyed them, but it is pretty easy to recall their 'lines'. Billy Vader: What's the difference between inlaws and outlaws? Outlaws are wanted. Glenn Hirsch: Glebe Husch According to Jeff Peterson's linked in, he worked on Princess for 29 years. https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeff-peterson-25641b15/ I like Jeff. He was also/originally a professional photographer.
  16. Princess was wine-centric? At least 15 years ago, Princess got rid of their sommeliers in the dining rooms...
  17. What does it mean? It means that princess doesn't understand the meaning of the word emergency. "Important" might have been a better word.
  18. For the folks here claiming that crew never has time off on a turn-around day. "Pocket of Miami, dubbed Little Manila, caters to thousands of Filipino cruise ship workers" https://amp.miamiherald.com/news/business/tourism-cruises/article267079216.html I find it amusing that someone here would argue based on watching a TV program.
  19. Agree completely. There is nothing about "knowing a few weeks before". The rotation of the earth, the orbit of the earth, and the orbit of the moon are quite predictable. Back in my formative years, we would buy a paper back book of tides and tidal current tables for the upcoming year. If you are in a slow moving boat, or in a situation where every second matters (like racing) knowing the tidal current is a great assist. In my neighborhood, it was eldridge, but maybe something like this for the pacific coast: Which had diagrams like this:
  20. Gentlemen ... what do you look for in a woman? Someone who can drive at night. After I learned that Jerry O'Connell would be on the show, I expected to despise both he and the show. He didn't have much screen time, so it wasn't as bad as I expected. But, don't put him outside in the sun. He needs flattering lighting, and a lot of makeup. I was amused that the 'Sail Away Ceremony' occured while the ship was at sea...
  21. That's a symptom of no testing of the app prior to release. Pretty much matches my personal experience working with Acc*&$$^& on development projects.
  22. Looking for more people to participate? On a carnival cruise I was on, there was some dust-up, and a security guard was placed outside of the participants cabin for the remainder of the cruise. (we were just down the hall) On princess, clash of the walkers is much more likely. I recall on emerald, there was a very upset gent haranguing the head waiter at the dining room entrance. Someone had 'stolen' his scooter while he was in the dining room.
