Hi, I don't know about the TAP schedule. I will speak with my SS rep tomorrow and go from there. I know United flies from Newark to Lisbon but SS no longer uses Newark as a "Gateway City". At least I have plenty of time to get this fixed.

Hi JP, I have never flown Turkish before but who knows if will end up being with them because I have to change the day of my flight.

I am sailing on the Ray at the end of the year on her TA crossing (December). I just received an email from Silversea with my flight from here to Lisbon. It is Miami to Istanbul and then Istanbul to Lisbon. Just curious, isn't that a bit of a weird connection? I will contact my SS rep tomorrow. I have booked my flights through SS many times for long hauls across the pond but this is the first time I can remember getting an email so early. We are in February and the flight is for December. Just seems really strange to me........any thoughts? Oh, the really wrong thing is...they have me arriving in Lisbon the day we sail..........I NEVER arrive on sail day when flying overseas. So I am definitely going to have to change the flights!!!

Hi Cynthia, good morning from rainy North Florida. It is an ugly day outside. I keep looking at some things and that even included a land trip (If you can believe it). Then I thought.....pack, unpack, pack unpack.........LOL............a cruise is so much easier. And to be honest, I was looking at the Caribbean and then thought there are other places in the world LOL. Actually, Celebrity has a good price on a Bermuda cruise that also has a stop at Martha's Vineyard but when I did a mock booking it came up that only late dining was available. I can't eat at 8:30 anymore. I guess I could call X directly and tell them I want Anytime dining and see what they say. It has been quite a few years since I have been to Bermuda and I have never visited Martha's Vineyard before. Oh, it is a cruise in May....spring time.

Welcome😀, just for your information it is Silversea......(no s on the end). They have singers and dancers and usually a pianist and sometimes a guitarist. The shows are not like on the BIG SHIPS......(not as extravagant). They do only have 1 show per night. I know on the big ships there are usually 2 shows. There is also a DJ who usually plays in the Panorama Lounge. I am sure others will chime in too.

Hi Kat, glad you don't need surgery😀 I hope Melody and Les are having a fun cruise. I can't believe how much I have been researching cruises lately.........A LOT. And I guess it is just one of those things, nothing has jumped out and said :BUY ME...............

Good thread actually😀 I am trying to find a last minute cruise......and just cannot find one that is calling my name saying "Buy Me". We are in the middle of February.........I am looking for March or April. I will keep looking.

Good morning, there is not a specific time frame to your question but I will say since you are not sailing until June, there is a good possibility the cabin assignment may not happen for at least 2 more months. When booking a gty cabin, the cabin can be assigned up until the actual sail date.

Hi Que, welcome back........Hawaii sounds nice. I have never been there before and have never sailed with NCL.........I am trying to find a cruise for March or April and not used to looking elsewhere but right now SS isn't showing anything I want to do at the moment. I have heard all kinds of things about NCL.......did you find lots of kids on board?

Good morning, first, my condolences on the loss of your son and my best to your husband. As for the length of your original post and all the background.......not sure I am going to hit on all of it but I can tell you I have been cruising solo for over 20 years. It is the only way I sail. I have lived on my own for about 95% of my adult life (I am 65). For me? I LOVE cruising too. It is my vacation of choice. As for the emotional part of your scenario, I rarely feel lonely and when I look out over the wake from my balcony I just sort of feel at peace. I have always been able to meet other folks very easily and for me, its even easier on a ship. Most people are quite friendly and there is always that "what is common" question.......have you sailed with xx before? Or have you been on xxx ship before? It is a general ice breaker really. As for dinner? I have frequently met other guests, both solo and non solo and have dined with them many times. I am really in a category for me, that doesn't care about marital status. If you are married, divorced, etc...etc.....it just depends on the person, not what their marital status happens to be. Anyway, I agree about taking care of yourself. Getting on that cruise ship and having all the time to do things for you, might be easier than you think😀

I get things in the mail from cruise companies I have never sailed with before.

Depends where I am going and sailing from and my comfort zone for different places. If I am taking a cruise to a new place and don't know how easy or hard the logistics are then I book my transport and many times my hotel through the cruise line. If I am flying somewhere I know very well I handle it myself. As to the concept of handling things on your own? I have been sailing solo for 20+ years so for me, it is no big deal. I pack one checked bag and 1 carry on for every cruise.

I was trying to find a last minute cruise on Oceania for either next month or April but everything I look at (that I would want) is wait listed. I was looking at Princess too but the ships are so big....... Elyce, have you sailed on the the new Discovery? Are you happy with Princess?

Hi Sherri, hope you have a wonderful trip😃I sailed on that ship once back around 2018 maybe........I know it was before Covid. From memory, it is actually not such a big ship (compared to the GIANT Royal ships). I remember that cruise because I shared a cabin with my sister. As much as I love her, I realized after that, I am never sharing a cabin with anyone again LOL

Good morning, I agree with Crystal and suggest you post this over on the Silversea forum. I will post a quick answer for you on the solo guest question. I have sailed with SS since 2017 (I only sail solo) and I love them.😃 There are some other solo guests who post on their forum too so you will get more answers over there.

Really? I did not know they have Alaskan cruises in November. Is this something new?
