  1. That is the way to do it......send it to the hotel🙂 I am staying at a The Conrad London St James and am thinking about shipping my luggage to them for my next cruise. (It is a Hilton Property LOL).
  2. So that would be 750.00 per suitcase. I used Luggage Forward and paid about 350.00-375.00 (can't remember exactly) but I know it was not 750.00. Not sure why they are are being charged that amount.
  3. I have used Luggage Forward before and it worked great and yes, it was about 350.00. In my case, I used them to ship my luggage home from Barcelona to here in the states. Guest Services on the ship helped me (I had hurt my leg while on my cruise) and it was much easier for me to not have to worry about that checked bag. Luggage Forward came to the port and picked up the bag and I had it within 3 days after I arrived home🙂 So, yes I would recommend them and I am actually thinking about using them again in August. Haven't made a final decision yet......but, I would use Luggage Forward again. .
  4. Hi Cynthia....yea, they are used to funky weather LOL.....from what everyone says they just "keep a stiff upper lip and carry on"....
  5. I agree with some of the other folks on here........what cruise line "rolls up at 9pm?" I would think many people are still eating dinner at that time. I don't cruise to be on a "party ship" so that is not even in my wheelhouse. As for Casino's, I would think they would be open just like any other cruise. Alaska is amazing. I have been 5 times over the past 20 years, most recently last summer. The scenery, wildlife, everything.......much of it can take your breath away. For specifics, I would post this on the cruise line forum you are looking to sail and I am sure the regulars on that forum would have answers as well.
  6. I must say, you guys definitely know how to do "Pomp and Circumstance".
  7. Good morning......Kat, that was a very fast week! Sounds like you had a good time🙂 and thanks for sharing the photos with us. So, anyone else watching the Coronation this morning? I have to say, The UK really does know how to do "Pomp and Circmustance"!
  8. It is really nice that you are open to trying them though🙂 I have seen so many threads with folks who only stick with what they know....meat and potatoes. I mean, I like that too but when I am in other countries I LOVE trying their foods😀then again, I have always liked being adventurous when it comes to trying new things (especially in the culinary field). I just returned from a cruise that sailed around Turkey and Greece and it was fabulous😀
  9. Kat, you are not a slob. And yes, Alaska cruises are usually much more casual than some other itineraries.
  10. To the OP, are you asking about a complimentary upgrade? If that is what you are asking, I have never heard of one. As Randy pointed out, if you want to pay the difference and one of the "BIG SUITES" is available then they will certainly accept your $.
  11. Hi, I took a private tour on the first day........me and a guide (and a driver). It was a 1/2 day and we spent 90% of it at The Topkopi Palace. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this....the entire place is magnificent. Even with a 1/2 day you cannot see it all but I am so happy we went there. The exhibits, the grounds, etc....are just amazing. My tour guide was fantastic too so that made a big difference. We then went to the Spice Market but didn't stay there very long. We walked by the famous Hagia Sophia Mosque but the line was very long and so after the Spice Market the driver drove me back to the ship. I would say we were gone for about 4 hours. As for Lira, Turkey is very flexible.....they actually take Lira, Euros AND US $.....but of course if you need change back, that will only be in Turkish Lira. Here is a link to the palace: check it out........I would go back in a heartbeat.🙂 https://www.millisaraylar.gov.tr/saray-kosk-ve-kasirlar/topkapi-sarayi The 2nd day I went on a riverboat tour on the Bosphorus River. We were only about 10 people and the guide was very good on this one too. I did not go to the Grand Bazzar and I am ok with that......the Spice Market is supposed to be like a miniature version and that was big enough. The Grand Bazzar is supposed to be about 10x larger LOL I don't mind big and crowded but I am happy with the choices I made🙂 Hope this helps a bit. Oh, I tipped both of my guides in Euros and they were more than happy to accept it.
  12. Thanks🙂....and my post should have said I check the weather more closely within a 2 week span before I leave........(I left out the word WEEK) on my previous post.
  13. That sounds like my style too🙂
  14. I will be sailing out of Southampton in late August for 12 nights which will end in Copenhagen on Sept 8th. I don't own a puffer jacket so that would not be on my radar. I am guessing layering would be the way to pack for this cruise too. We are sailing to various ports in Ireland and Scotland and I have a full day in Copenhagen post cruise before flying home on the 9th.. It sounds like I will be in long sleeves and either jeans or joggers for daytime touring, yes, with some type of sweater/jacket. I will be checking the weather pretty closely as the time gets closer. Normally I check on line within a 2 span before my cruise so that will give me a good idea of those current temps.
  15. I am happy either way 😀........examples would be when I go to Europe I love port days, I took a cruise last month out of Athens and sailed all around Greece and Turkey. It was very port intensive and that is ok with me😀. I visited a lot of places for the first time and in the couple of ports I had been to multiple times in the past, I just used them as an additional sea day🙂 I sailed to the Caribbean back in January and on that cruise? We went to a lot of ports and I never got off the ship ......I just relaxed and basically didn't do much of anything so it was really a full sea day cruise for me. (I had been to every port on the itinerary before). Like I mentioned, I am happy with sea days and am happy with port days. It really depends on the specific cruise. I have 2 more cruises coming up..........one is very port intensive and the other is a TA crossing so one of each and I am looking forward to both!😀
  16. I just want to say once again, your photos are outstanding and I am so enjoying seeing them😀 thanks for sharing these with us. From the landscapes to all the food, everything looks so good!
  17. Someone mentioned the coffee earlier in this thread. Well, normally I drink coffee at breakfast here at home but it seems whenever I cruise (no matter what the cruise line) I cannot find a cup of coffee that is pleasing to my pallet. So, in the mornings, I drink hot tea. I do enjoy a latte and or/cappuccino and those are always good but as for a "regular cup of joe"? It seems, for me, it it too strong and/or bitter. Of course that may be just me because I know other folks drink it without any issues.
  18. I know...I was replying to the previous poster.🙂...see the quote
  19. Have you tried Soma? They have a variety of sleepwear...night gowns included and I mentioned Dillard's....they have a big lingerie dept.
  20. Its ok🙂.....I don't wear night gowns so for me? A pair of pjs is my usual. And the bottoms are usually capri length or shorts. But they make some elegant night gowns out there too......so that is what I originally thought you were asking about.
  21. Yes, I thought the title was referring to sleepwear as well. As to formal wear, I am not a dress gal so as long as I have dressy slacks and a pretty top? That is my evening attire on formal nights. To to OP, have you tried Dillard's? They always have a big dress dept....and a full dept of long dresses/formalwear.
  22. I am very grateful I never wanted for anything as a kid. We always had food on the table and as far back as I can remember, my Dad had his own business, worked hard and I know we were not "rich" but I can't remember struggling.....so I guess I am lucky. Mom worked too........and now, I am 65 and retired and my parents are no longer with us. But I am VERY thankful and grateful that I can cruise, pretty much as often as I want.......my parents would be looking down and I think they would be smiling😀. So yes, I try to be thankful every day. As for those complainers? There is a saying that may sound kind of cold but its true..........."You can't fix stupid".
