  1. I have sailed 3 times without an APP and twice without a medallion, I got a regular cruise card. The cruise card unlocks the cabin door just like the medallion and you use it to get off at port just like the medallion. You can do most things on your TV.
  2. Masking tape over the sensor in the ceiling outside the bathroom works to prevent the light from coming on.
  3. I don't use the APP. I have used many gift cards. I apply them to the section on the web page after logging in under payments. The excess will go to OBC which can be applied where ever you want it.
  4. Do you know if this is all true for someone outside of the USA
  5. Got a better idea, I booked with Princess Cruises who doesn't have any fee's for cancelling before final payment and allows air changes or cancelling up to 45 days before sailing. As a suite booking passenger RCL no longer works for me. RCL has a good product but not a good booking policy for my wallet so I'm walking with my wallet intact.
  6. Either you loose the $100 if you change or cancel OR you pay an "extra" for the refundable "insurance". Both ways cost you at least $100 out of pocket that is a deal breaker for me.
  7. No you can't. Please read the entire thread so you don't book without full knowledge of the policy now in place.
  8. you misread my statement. If you book any cruise, with or without a refundable deposit if you change or cancel there is a fee of $100 PPeven on a refundable deposit. A family of 4 would loose $400 even before final payment date if they need to change dates or cancel.
  9. The daily auto gratuity took away the need to tip any more then that. How many times can you tip for the same service? Once is more then enough for me.
  10. The opposite might be true as well. Right now I have 2 cruises booked on Princess and wanted to change up things a little. I wouldn't consider anything below a balcony category anyway. Variety and all that spice of life cliche. I'm happy not to cruise at the last minute if the price is higher or there is no cabin that suits me. I am retired and can do last minute travel as easily as long planned in advance. Everyone has a different set of values and spends as they see fit. With so many options right now I don't have to cruise with any particular cruise line if I don't like their policy. As to question of how many cruises I've had to cancel, it's very few and far in between but at a certain age (such as retirement) things are more unpredictable. I never take insurance because I have Medjet to get me home and my health insurance covers me anywhere in the world.
  11. If cancelled before final payment you loose $100 - call it anything you want I call it a rip off. Some people don't mind this policy but I do. If they gave it as a future cruise credit I would find it acceptable.
  12. The deposit is refundable less that $100 admin fee. Why pay a higher price for a fully refundable price, it's essentially the same thing. I usually book through a big box retailer for a shop card or OBC. I will wait until after final payment dates because that's what I choose to do instead of paying for this admin fee.
  13. I just looked to book a cruise for this fall. Got so far as to pick a cabin. When I saw they keep $100 PP as an admin fee I didn't finish the booking. If I haven't found someplace else to go I might look to book with RCL after final payments date but won't book in advance as long as this fee is in place.
  14. It was per person if both people were not married or had different addresses. Married couples were penalized.
  15. Can you bring your own test kits which are free if you have medicare and test at the airport showing it's negative?
  16. Neither, it's included in the auto daily tip.
  17. The last cruise I was on in Feb they had the crown Grill open for breakfast so apparently it's not a given, it's dependent on ship and staffing. In a full suite breakfast is also available via room service which is very handy if you want to depart as soon as the ship is cleared for disembarkation.
  18. The usual cost for club class is $40 PP PD. The menu is the same as the main dining room with one added item. The added item could be an appetizer or entre or dessert. The main advantage to club class is never having to wait to be seated, the way anytime dining was meant to be. The service is better because they get to know you and most tables are 2 tops. Compare this cost with the specialty restaurants which are $25 - $29 PP and decide what works best for you.
  19. I look for $150-$200 PP PD and don't sail in less then a Mini Suite. I can't imagine not having natural light from at least a window.
  20. If the company is having as much difficulty as people state and the stock price reflects that opinion maybe cruising will get smaller and back to being for the wealthier passengers. I hope for the sake of CCL they can maintain their stock prices until they become more profitable. In hindsight they grew too big and too fast.
  21. Thank you posting this. It is highly understandable and answers my question directly.
  22. Thank you, that's what kind of explanation a lay person such as myself was looking for.
  23. I've already made my investment back with over 50 cruises. Yes I bought it for the OBC and it paid off. My question was for someone who can understand the financials and all the stuff about the stock.
