  1. Our last cruise in April we were notified two weeks before the cruise that one of our bids had been excepted. We were in a balcony bid on a deluxe, premium balcony and mini suite. Our bid for the deluxe was accepted, did not care for the deluxe.
  2. We are going on our final cruise for 2023 in 85 days, so put in a bid. Currently in a Balcony on the 14th deck bids available club mini suite mininum bid $275pp highest $60pp regular mini suite mininum $`150pp highest $425pp premium balcony mininum $65pp highest $185pp I decided to go with a mini suite bid of $150pp - all mini suites on the Emerald are located on deck 8 and all of deck 9 is minisuites except for 4 suites. we like having a bathtub and my husband likes the couch. probably won't get it with a lowest bid possible, but I will see how long it takes to reject and then will go with a bid for the premium. will post our win or loss
  3. Just got off the Discovery. We had booked a Balcony, given the opportunity to upgrade to Deluxe, Premuim or Mini Suite. I did a minimum bid on all three and we got a Deluxe for $40pp. We wanted to try a Deluxe or Premium because you get a "sofa" (actually a love seat) and my husband wanted something better to sit on than the chair or just the bed. After a week in the room - he hardly used the sofa and said that it was not worth upgrading. He did not find it comfortable. We will now only go for a mini suite or keep what we have. We have a cruise end of July and I will be bidding for a mini suite - will come back and report what they are asking for next week.
  4. If I had won the $50,000 I would be saying it was a great cruise. I only won $250
  5. We are on Emerald next. We will not return to Discovery unless they change the itinerary When we completed our evaluation I asked them to bring back the Alaska cruise round trip out of LA, we were going to do that, then covid hit and they have not put that back on their list of cruises.
  6. We just got off the Discovery - April 15 - 22nd. Last night we were packing up and I took the stuff out of the safe and along the edge of the safe, hidden from view I found two items. I contacted guest services and they send someone up to get the items and take pictures. I told them to contact the previous occupants, but he said he would turn it over to lost and found - don't know if they would bother to try to contact the past occupants, I hope so. I don't want to say what it is, so the real owner can identify what they lost - I did take a picture. As a side note, this was one of the worst 7 days of cruising that we have had in the 14 cruises with Princess. The ship was at full capacity, rude people, slow service in the MDR and this was a casino slot tournament cruise, so the casino was full all the time. We only ate in the MDR three times. First on embarkation we always go to the dining room for lunch. 2nd was breakfast (took an hour to get food (cold). 3rd was dinner and it was slow and again items were cold. We did not go back. We ate in GiGi's twice and it was excellent. We did enjoy have the gelato ice cream - we tried the new desserts with the plus package once, but prefered getting just the gelato.
  7. In the beginning we only booked Celebrity. Now only Princess - we are going out of L.A. and Celebrity does not offer many cruises 1. pick which has the best itinerary for what you want to see 2. Cost (we count our pennies) 3. I find Celebrity more upscale (my opinion)
  8. I agree. Traffic on a saturday will not be a problem. Plan to take taxi/uber/lyft to airport to get there faster. Safe journey
  9. We have only gone on Princess since 2017 - our offers we most a free balcony for husband and free inside for me, usually both included the drinks, gratuities and wifi and some casino free play anywhere from $250 to 400 We took seven cruises last year using our free offers, we took one in January and have next week and one in July, all free offers, we currently are receiving emails and flyers, but the offers are for inside for husband and myself, no extras and $150 casino play - we will not book with those offers.
  10. We took this cruise last year (september). I used the Princess transfers coming and going. I believe that it was $39 each both times. $78 total each way We received a time to get off the ship, and go to the buses, Not really clear on which bus, but we got on. The bus was not totally full, took about 45 minutes to get to airport and then the driver stops at each terminal. We of course were on the last stop. They do not really let you know which terminal is yours. So you might want to research which airline goes out of what terminal. Your flight time is in par to when ours left and we had no problem with security and had plenty of time to make our flight
  11. We are leaving on Discovery April 15th, received email last week asking us not to arrive at Port until 1:00p and we were given a time based on Deck. This also was the case when we went in January - we still got to the port around 11:30a, went through security, and checked in and got on board by 12:00 - 12:15
  12. We have been an inside, oceanview, balcony and suite. We always get a balcony now because we want to be able to go out on the balcony and "view" - we do not spend a lot of time on the balcony, but I will go out to read my book for an hour or so. that said: My husband likes having a couch, so on our cruise coming up, we had a balcony. I put in a bid for the deluxe balcony because it says that the cabin has a couch - not concerned with the size of the balcony - just as long as it has one. We did get our bid of $80 total accepted.
  13. We started off cruising with Celebrity - but after doing 7 with them and doing Europe with them, we decided to stay in the USA area, and switched to Princess. Once we started getting the free cabins, free play, slot tournaments offers we were hooked. 2022 was a big cruise year - we went on five cruises and the offers were great. 2023 we had one cruise in January (slot tournament) and leave next month for another cruise (slot tournament) and one in July (slot VIP) Most of the emails that we are receiving (and flyers) and not as good as in the past past was free balcony, free casino play, princess plus - now free inside, free casino play and no princess plus From reading some of the posts, Carnival casino players say that Carnival is better with their offers. For those of you who cruise Carnival and Princess can you give me the pros and cons We are in the LA port area and do not want to travel by air to get to ports to cruise. We are not cruising for the ports, we go for the relaxation, gambling and "get away" for a week or two. thank you for response
  14. I would put the blame on the "no training", "no knowledge" as the major problem. Also, moving the customer service out of the country is another problem. Communication skills are non existent.
  15. I print out everything that I can on paper and take screen shots with my iphone for everything else. I like to have back up for everything - makes it easier to dispute changes that you did not authorize.
  16. i agree, their customer service personnel do not know how to handle issues. Makes them useless.
  17. the first day you are allowed - which I believe was 90 days before sailing
  18. We had a Balcony BE and the offer was $40pp or $80 total to get a Deluxe Balcony, I also bid for premium and mini suite, but those were not accepted. (my husband wanted a sofa in the room) I received email this morning that the bid for the Deluxe was accepted and then had the great pleasure in dealing with customer service to get the $80 paid - even though the message says that it will automatically be billed to by credit card - NOT Our cruise is 30 days out today.
  19. Good Luck My booking is a Casino Promotion offer. In these offers you have to pay for the cruise in full at the time of the booking, which we did last July. I received an email this morning that my bid for $80 to go from Balcony BE to a Deluxe Balcony DE was accepted. My husband wanted a sofa in the cabin. I had also tried to upgrade to premium balcony and a mini suite, both of those show expired. I went on our personalizer to pay and could not find anywhere I am suppose to pay. I checked my credit card to see if they had automatically charged my card - they did not. I get on the phone and call Princess and I went around and around. I finally hung up and called the casino department and it sent me back to the regular reservations and I had to have her transfer me back to the casino department. I paid the $80 thru them, but they had no idea what I was talking about when I told them that their website said that I could pay on the personalizer, or it would be automatically billed to my credit card. One had does not know what the other hand is doing.
  20. attempt to show two pictures, one of nylon side other reversed to fleece side has a hood the sleeve at the wrist has zipper both sides have deep pockets both sides have accents of yellow and white bought roomy so we could wear sweatshirt/layers under it
  21. I agree - leave a note on their door. When cruising started up again, we boarded the ship and unpacking our suitcases and two ladies entered the cabin next door - they were banging their stuff around and talking so loud we could hear everything - it was like we were in the same cabin. I told my husband that I was going to say something, but he said to wait. We waited and it continued. Later that day when ship was leaving the port I was on the balcony to watch and one of the women came out on their balcony. She looked over at me and said - I hope we aren't very loud ?. (now if you have to ask then you know you are). I said - yes, you are being very loud and it would be nice if you would tone it done. We had very quiet neighbors for the rest of the trip. I think this was the Emerald
  22. We bought a navy blue jacket on our Alaska cruise from the gift shop. It is nylon on the outside and fleece on the inside. We got them on sale.
  23. from the reviews on the desserts, I don't think we will bother either and fitness classes have never been on the agenda.
