  1. we receive email offers or mail offers and they are marked as VIP cruises. You can not book any cruise you want and have it be a VIP - they have set aside certain cruises that are VIP
  2. leave in 4 days. My bid still shows pending. Looking everyday. currently in balcony, bid $150pp for mini suite.
  3. We leave Saturday on a VIP cruise. Our last VIP cruise we had a card that was good for free drinks while in the casino ony. (we didn;t have a drink package, so it worked out well) Everyday we would get a gift in our room, chocolate covered strawberries, princess packing cubes, miscellaneous stuff. You are also suppose to get priority boarding,
  4. reading these posts - I just lost 5 minutes of my life over nothing who cares what anything is called
  5. two ways to get an offer. 1. receive a "come back and play" offer that you receive on the last full day on the cruise. It is based on your points earned during the cruise. If both people in the room played enough, both will receive an offer. It is good for one cruise only and must be taken with 7 months of getting off the ship. 2. you will receive email or postcard offers - these will all vary. Some will be an offer for a cruise, or a choice of several cruises that they specify. Or you will get an offer that says in the small print that you can book up to 3 cruises, but any casino free play money is only good on the lst cruise
  6. We have booked two cabins, one in my husband's name and then we put my son in his cabin, one cabin in my name, with my daughter in law and two grandkids. We then switch around, the grandkids sleep in one room, or they split up. I go to the guest services and I have the same credit card used for any charges for both cabins, and I have all keys to work for both cabins.
  7. I have emailed. I get a return email telling me that they are very busy and will respond as soon as possible - which means never Because of the stupid response, I will reply email with that same email, "when ??" ever week. still nothing.
  8. my husband and I usually get the same offers. I call and since I only book one cabin, he gets his offer (free play and the plus package) and I would get the same. Now our offers are only for the free cabin and free play. no plus package. We get the cabin and he gets his money and I get my money. We pay the $200 deposit each and then get that as OBC, which we use to pay for the gratuities and miscellaneous once we are on board.
  9. I always go to guest services when we get on board to make sure that the correct credit card is being used - most of the people who are asking to make an upgrade are told that they is a waiting list, so I don't bother. I don't want to unpack and then pack up again. We normally get a balcony, would prefer to have a mini suite, so we bid on that before the cruise - have had our bids accepted twice.
  10. offers can come with different lengths, but I have not seen 32 days. The longest I have seen is 16 night LA to Hawaii roundtrip. The do not give you 7 days free and then you pay for the next 7 days - the cabin is free for the cruises that they have designated. If you are offered a free inside, you can pay to upgrade to oceanview, balcony, mini suite. etc. During the course of the cruise, we are usually in the 3,000 - 5,000 points and we get offers (now) for free inside. use to be balcony.
  11. Because the prices are higher, I would recommend an Oceanview if you want something larger than an inside and want the light from the window, We had a balcony, which is the minimum we will go with. But going to Alaska, the weather is cold, you do not sit out on the balcony to read. You will spend little time on your balcony. this is just my opinion, but going to Alaska is well worth the time and money
  12. the $35 pp bid sounds okay. I wish I could, would, had the money to go for the highest suite, but I don't, won't, can't do that- my husband would shoot me.
  13. as said, do you want the balcony or a larger bathroom and cabin space. I take the larger cabin/bathroom - $120.00 is a great price
  14. Harrah's Rincon Casino in northern San Diego county The offer was a certificate, you call the number and you chose which cruise line you want to go with Holland America or Princess. Since we have been on 15 cruises with Princess, we currently get better offers than the certificate, but we wanted to try Holland America,. We are only Diamond members with Harrah's so our offer was only an interior cabin for free, no added perks and no play money This certificate was the way we started with Princess years ago
  15. Wanted to give an update of my conversation with Holland America casino rep I called this morning and the call was "in america" and I got a real nice women. I told her I had the certificate that I received from the land based casino. She took info from me and then told me that the offer was for an inside cabin, up to 12 days long (no more) and certain holiday periods were not available. So I gave her a date for a 7 night cruise and asked how much if we wanted to upgrade from an inside to balcony the cruise is out of San Diego. Inside cabin cost on the Holland website is $699 per person. If we took it we would pay $255 for port taxes each person, $99 each for the travel insurance each.. Upgrading to a oceanview would be $50 each, or balcony $150 each. So total for balcony using the free inside certificate would cost $948 - pay up front, same as Princess, but Princess requires a $200 each deposit, given back once on board the ship as OBC. Holland does not require a deposit, and if we cancel we lose 10% of the total amount paid - $94.80 We leave next week on a Princess cruise, but when we get back I will be booking our first Holland America cruise.
  16. log into your account. go down the screen where it allows you to book excursions, dining, beverage packages and "bid upgrade" click on the bid box, put in your last name, then your booking number and it will show your bids. You can cancel, or click to make a new bid, either for the same category or a different one if available.
  17. Sorry about your father's stroke - hope he will recover. My understanding about the $200 deposit with a casino booking - it is not refundable. Even though you got the insurance, the deposit is not covered by that. I have been told that everytime I book a casino trip - the deposit is not refundable. Sorry if the reps did not relie that info to you. I would still call the casino department and try to get the refund, since you were given the wrong info at the time of booking.
  18. The overall theme of this thread is: The medallion is suppose to be used when charging anything on board the ship - when you order the drink, you should not have to provide your cabin number verbally, it should pick up the info off your medallion. Problem - medallion is not working correctly and information is not getting applied correctly by the drink server. Not a problem when you have the plus package, but is a problem if you do not. We will not have the drink package on our next cruise and I will check our account daily to make sure we are not being charged for someone elses drinks. I should not have to do that.
  19. the hard part is keeping track of what you are closing out on your machine. land casinos you get a piece of paper that you feed into the next machine on the ships you go to a new machine and pull up your account and take out what funds you want to play on that machine. Know what you have
  20. The last full day on the cruise (not the day arriving at the port to debark) - you will receive a "come back and play" offer based on the points you earned on the cruise. So if you have a budget for playing - play your budget and play nothing on the last full day, those points will not go towards your offer on the final day.
  21. when you charge the amount you want to play on your machine, it goes against your cabin account, and yes your OBC will be used to pay it. ie: You have OBC of $200, you go to the casino and ask for $200 to play on the machine. Your cabin account will show zero owed. The little screen where you have to sign in everytime you play on a machine will show your account balance. This screen is also where your points are shown and where you charge more money on your cabin account if you need more money - which is 100% of the time.
  22. my last email to them I never got a response
  23. Our offers are not as good either, and this is after doing 7 cruises in the past 18 months. We have a cruise in 3 weeks and if our come back and play is not a free cabin, plus package, and free play money we will not book either. We have a free cabin offer from Holland America, and we are planning to book something for next year, and then we will see what they offer. Crusing may be on hold for awhile with us.
  24. thank you for your detailed info. we are planning to book a cruise with Holland with a casino land based certificate. Free inside, nothing else, but it gets on board. Will see what offers we get after. Would love to use for their Alaska cruises, like some I have seen.
  25. Make sure when you cash out of your machine, do not get up and leave until you get the message on the screen that your money has been posted to your account. You need to keep track of your money in your account. If you start off with a $100, play $20, cash out, make sure that you have $80 in your account when you leave that machine. We have had several times where it did not go back to the account and was still sitting on that machine.
