  1. Honestly, not much. Now, I never (and never will) put a card on my account when checking in, so that's not an option. The only real reason to not prepay is in case I'm not satisfied with something and want to adjust the DSC.
  2. Yeah, you could get slapped and dropped off at the next port if you're not careful 🤣
  3. If you plan on going to the solo gatherings, they usually do a group dinner in one of the MDR if that would interest you. Could be something different for one or more of the nights
  4. yes, platinum dinners restrict you to one appetizer entree and dessert. Interesting that it actually doesn't mention a side. I don't know if that actually means there are no limits to side items:

  6. I was in Cagney's and overheard servers telling folks one app, one entree, side, and dessert. I'm preparing to fight, but when I ordered multiple apps and sides, nothing was said. I thought I may have just got a server that actually knew. I later figured out the difference. For the dining package, you can get multiple apps and sides, as well as desserts. For the platinum dinners, you have the restrictions to one each. I guess I was overhearing folks with platinum vouchers
  7. I was on the getaway a few weeks ago. This notice was on the desk. The actual coffee maker was in the closet on the top shelf. I had coffee (as well as a muffin/danish and yogurt) delivered each morning, so I never bothered to ask for coffee pods for the pot in the room
  8. yeah, I love when these type of promos are available and I combine with my CAS comp, but they don't come around too often anymore. Last good one I had was free airfare. That was nice because I left out of New Orleans and had comp stays at Harrah's before and after the cruise.
  9. I cook at least 85% of my meals in my air fryer!!! And yes, air fryer wings are awesome. But the O'Sheehans wings don't taste like air fryer wings.
  10. I never actually got the Ruben, but I had them put corn beef on top of my cheeseburger, and it was delicious. This became my nightly goto instead of the wings. I put mustard on it, but now I wish I would have thought about having them put the Russian dressing on it. Next time....
  11. cool. Have a great trip. It's hard not to :)
  12. no, you don't have to give a credit card when checking in. You can go to guest services and put cash on your account. I've put as little as $10 cash on my account. I think it's silly, but you have to have something on your account to "charge" the free drinks. Anything left over can be cashed out on the last night of the cruise. You can also just purchase $25 OBC (or any other amount up to the $1000 maximum) before your cruise therefore avoiding having to go to guest services to place cash.
  13. Great. It's only $7, but I did just won an upgrade from inside to balcony and was charged the extra gratuities for the dining package. I'm guessing the agent was thinking about the DSC only, but you will get an extra meal with the free at sea dining. Of course, I'm assuming you didn't cancel the dining package, or booked a sail away cabin, which doesn't include the free at sea. If you do have the dining package (which is only 1 meal for a studio unless you're on a cruise longer than 10 days), you will notice that you paid $10 gratuities for it. The two meal package costs $17 in gratuities
  14. wow. I was on the getaway a few weeks ago, and I knew there was something different about the wings, but couldn't quite put it into words (besides they were smaller). I only got them on the first night because I didn't like the change. Usually I would end each night after leaving the night club with wings. This trip I went with a nightly burger, but had them add corn beef and bacon to it. It was really good.
  15. you will also see a small increase in gratuities for the dining package because you'd be going from one meal to two meals. It's an extra $7
  16. yes, I also feel like it's a real sneaky trick to get you to think you actually have OBC to use. It's really monopoly money. That's why I feel like it's just best to think of the CND as costing $125.
  17. If you book your cabin thru the casino, and/or have a playing history with the NCL casino, you get free drinks in the casino (and at the casino bar). The entry level drink card allows you to get house drinks, beer, wine, sodas, juice, specialty coffee, and boxed waters. The more you play, you earn a higher level of drink privileges. So, a lot of casino customers use their casino drink card to fill in for drinks not available with the free at sea drink package. Personally, I always decline the free at sea package and just use my casino drink card. There are no gratuities associated with this card. I simply tip the bartender or server a buck or two for each drink.
  18. If you happen to be a gambler and have the casino drink card, specialty coffee (as well as water, cans of soda, and energy drinks) are included. You'd have to go to the casino bar to get it
  19. the ship's coffee (at least on the Getaway) is pretty good. You can order a pot to be delivered to your room in the morning for no charge. I ordered a pot for delivery each morning (you have to order by 4AM) and drank it while getting up/showered/dressed in the morning. I usually had a muffin and yogurt to go with it.
  20. I've never refunded that much, so I don't know if they will give you cash, check, or refund to credit card. I've gotten back as much as $200 as cash
  21. If the certificate is in his name, you won't be able to go without him. You could risk him just being a no show if you want, but who knows what they would do then. They may make you pay the full fare
  22. I do the same with my discover card, buying a little every month until I hit the amount I want, up to $1000 max. That way I earn the cash back. I used to prepay the service charge, but now I buy enough OBC to cover it. Since I also pay the balance in full every month, there is no cost and I earn cash back
  23. I never heard a reason. We went to Nassau instead. Our other two stops were San Juan and St Thomas which are both in the US. So I think they had to get in a foreign port else get into trouble with the US
  24. I also do this, and I simply don't put a credit card on file when checking in. You actually get the money back as cash on the last night, if you choose to. I always go get the cash, so I'm not sure the process for returning the extra to you if you leave the ship without collecting it
