  1. The size of the ship doesn't actually affect how the ship handles seas...it a design issue. A more technically savvy person will have to explain the issue.
  2. You realize the poster you quoted posted over 3 years ago?
  3. I can't explain what happened, but its not bait and switch.
  4. I have not heard of a cruise from Barcelona to the Baltics. Some cruise lines, like HAL, may start a ship in the Med for April and May, then move it to AMS, Rotterdam, or possibly Copenhagen for June on. So you might be able to catch a cruise in the Med, them move with the ship to northern Europe.
  5. This is just proof the term "reasonable" is a vague, subjective term, and not always relevant to actual conditions in the area.
  6. I was assuming current departure ports, like in the next few days...but as the OP didn't write a complete, specific question...but you are definitely correct.
  7. Yep, the port would be kind of important. There is no barrier to driving right up to the ship in San Diego.
  8. Cabanas 1 to 5. Do a little searching around this board for the map that is commonly posted.
  9. If you do a search, you will see a number o threads with a chart of pricing. You only get a discount on the Premium plan by booking in advance. There isn't a discount for Mariners. Yes, OBC can be applied to Wifi plans. The cost is based upon the length of your cruise.
  10. A common recommendation here is to stay in Ft Lauderdale and take one of the frequently recommended shuttles to the port the day of sailing. Have you contacted any of the frequently recommended shuttle services mentioned here to see what they offer in your situation? SAS, QLS, Jiffy Jeff, GO Shuttle and a couple others. Also a common recommendation is Larry's Limo, which, for a party of 4, wouldn't be too expensive.
  11. There is an estimating feature on the Uber website.
  12. You apparently don't know that the bar waiters and bartenders have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the hotel service charge...that is for waiters and cabin stewards. The bar waiters and bartenders are a totally separate contract, and are part of the 18% tip on booze sales. I NEVER said if you give extra money to a bar waiter or bar tender they would know the status of my HSC, because bar waiters and bartenders have NOTHING to do with the HSC. Perhaps you should read my post. You apparently totally disregard all the common reports that if you reduce or eliminate the hotel service, room steward supervisors and MDR supervisors do in fact know who has reduced or canceled their HSC. Please provide proof that I am wrong. Or, because you are Hank, you don't need any? I certainly know any comments I have made through the chain of communication and command has definitely been passed on to the employees involved.
  13. Yes. Steak, salmon, Cesar salad, and a couple other things. If you look at any of the "Live from" threads that frequently show menus, you can see the items.
  14. People covered by the "Crew appreciation" don't have to pool extra tips, as long as you don't cancel your Crew Appreciation contribution. Discussed here frequently. Bar waiters are on a different contract, covered by the 18% on each drink, which is pooled. Extra money given to them is not pooled.
  15. A little reading around the board would find its about port intensity (lots of full days touring in ports), not so much cruise line. You probably want what is commonly called an "Eastern Med" cruise. Lots of cruise lines, including ones you may have cruised on, and thus have familiarity with, run 10 day routes in Italy and Greece. If you like those cruise products, I would start with them.
  16. There is a whole board devoted to Panama Canal cruising, located here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/54-panama-canal/ Some reading there would reveal a very important issue is old locks versus new locks. Pretty sure Emerald Princess would go through the old, but the NCL ships would go through the new, but check the long thread on the topic. I am not sure I would say Princess is the "best" (by what definition of "best")...as that is totally subjective. We have been through the Canal 4 full times and one partial. None of which were on Princess...I think we survived.
  17. And by the way, this answer applies to all HAL ships, as does the dress code.
  18. Its December right now. You could easily be taking notes on the current temps in SF and Hawaii for good ideas.
  19. Solid, current, factual info based a little Google searching, I assume?
  20. Light, followed by dark. Well, we are mid way through December right now. We have seen many nice sunny days, and one major storm go through. Currently, Hawaii is experiencing a serious storm.
