  1. It really doesn't matter who they have unless "O" has the food budget to make the difference. I don't think it's cheap at all, has long as they don't fill a class and take to a dining venue on the ship.
  2. I would believe it's the same on all "O" cruises. No jacket required - just a collared shirt and nice pants for men.
  3. Sorry, I thought you meant all announcements came in the cabin/suite.
  4. Sorry but I still don't like the idea of announcements in cabins/suites unless it's an emergency. If you want to hear you sound be able to turn your TV on a Chanel dedicated to this. If I'm resting, napping or just enjoying the quiet of my suite or watching a movie I don't won't to hear that bingo or trivia or something else is about to happen.
  5. But we shouldn't say never---it could happen-it just hasn't happen yet on "O".
  6. We did it once (years ago), they send someone from the staff to collect are luggage early. They did ask us to keep are luggage in the suite. It's been awhile, but we're hoping to mod this again in Tokyo. The ship arrives and clears customs the day before and we over night in Tokyo on the ship. If we can we'll be flying out HND, if for any reason we can't we'll be flying out of NRT. After cruise we plan on a week in Bangkok and a few days in Hong Kong before flying home.
  7. These are really fun, great way to pass the time. Something like this put your name in just in case someone drops out.
  8. I also like to book the suite I want, that way we are not disappointed - we get what we've paid for, plus we'll enjoy the cruise much more. Guaranteed - only means you'll get someplace on the ship, maybe a better cabin-but not the location you wanted. Waitlist, maybe you won't be going at all. The only way I'd do a waitlist is if I couldn't get the suite I wanted, but I'd be happy with what booked if I didn't make the cut.
  9. One would think unless it's an emergency that all PA announcements would be only made in areas that are public areas-never in a cabin or suite.
  10. Thank you again for taking the time, enjoying your post. Are you saying the CD announcements are coming into the cabin or just in public areas of the ship?
  11. Can't you use your SM credit for a private car tour? It's considered a tour expense and listed in tours.
  12. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your personal experience on the ship. It's fair and refreshing - some good, some so/so and some not so good. We've cruised with "O" about 8 times, then moved over to Regent for about 9 cruise-after that we moved to Silversea. We've enjoy all the cruises taken, had some great times and a few not so great. We've just booked an "O" cruise coming, so it's great to understand what's going on now at "O". Thanks again........looking forward to reading more.
  13. Thanks, We are deciding wither to take an early 10:30AM flight from HND or later 5:30PM flight from NRT.
  14. Surprise - We're booked on the Riviera Sept 2025 and the fare has gone up $800pp. Which is why we book as soon as we know which cruise we want!
  15. We take a large suitcase and never have had a problem. We really don't lug anything, you have porters at the hotel, ship and even at the airports. I'd rather wait 10 or 15 minutes than have to carry you bags on and off the plane, or hotel room and the ship.
  16. Question: If you arrive in Tokyo via the ship and you over night on the ship before debarkation, do you clear Japanese immigration the dy you arrive--and can you get off the ship early the day of debarkation? Thank you ahead...and great reviews........
  17. I'm 81 now and if I can't travel because of my health (really age shouldn't be a factor) that is my decision and my Doctors. That is also why I carry travel insurance. It's a choice you make, plus when leaving the ship I always plan or my returning to the ship 4 hours before departure. A lot of people cut it short leaving only an hour (for me that isn't enough time should something happen.
  18. Don't you think that is different that someone just being late because of shopping, or staying later at a spot of interest to them. We're talking about inconsiderate people.
  19. Sure it happens, but not so much these days. Lufthansa waited once, we were in First , but they really waited for 110 students they didn't want too put up for the night nor keeping them safe. The others on late flight going to other major cities didn't fair so well. Basically they didn't hold the flight because we were flying first, it was the cost putting up the kids flying.
  20. Just an opinion - it cost the ship more $$$$ to be headed at a port longer than planned-which in turn is passed on down the road to those that got to the ship on time. It's all about profit overall and that is the bottom line.
  21. Do you think an airline is ever going to wait, even when you are arriving on that airline that was late for you're connecting flight...............
  22. Sorry, I didn't mean you personally, I was generalizing that things happen and would make you late. My apologies for using your story as a base for my comment.
  23. Things happen, but why should 1198 other people have to wait?
  24. Unfortunately it really doesn't matter--if you go on your own, you are responsible to get back to the ship (on time). I would say I go off myself 90% of the time-and I've never been late because I keep track time and always leave extra time for mishaps.
