  1. Thanks for posting the video which confirms much of what has been said by others since the removal of butlers.
  2. Did you read any reviews before booking? Comments by @Boatharbour on Jetstar are quite correct. Make sure you have excellent travel insurance to cover the cost of flight cancellation, food and accommodation in Sydney. Enjoy your cruise and best of luck for your flights home.
  3. We are looking forward to your reports, as we will join the ship in Sydney bound for Singapore. Of particular interest are on board temperature, music volume and food. Wishing you smooth seas and a relaxing cruise! The forecast temperature for Sydney on the day you arrive and we depart is 24C.
  4. It does make it easier for the cabin attendant to set rooms up as desired on the busy "turnaround" day, rather than having to run extra errands and redo work that was done prior to boarding, especially if one person has up to 19 cabins to service as has been reported in the forum within the past 24 hours. We have always supplied requests to the ship a few days before boarding and have been thanked by both cabin attendants and Housekeeping Supervisors for making that day a little easier.
  5. We will be in a Sunset Sky Suite in a few weeks and were contacted by a representative from Shoreside Retreat Concierge Support a week ago. Last year the contact was from a Shoreside Concierge and everything was conveyed to the relevant departments of the ship.
  6. Apology not required. You did clarify with the words "overall generalization" I absolutely agree with your views on hateful and violent tattoos anywhere on an exposed part of the body and would not like to be face to face with anyone so "adorned!"
  7. I enjoy reading your posts, but the comment (although clarified by the words "overall generalization") may be seen as offensive by some of our Pacific neighbours who have practised the art for centuries, depicting such things as initiation, rites of passage, achievement, social status, geneaology and historical information. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tā_moko
  8. You may find this useful : https://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/travel-tips/planning/how-to-claim-your-vat-refund-in-europe/ We have successfully reclaimed at least part of VAT on onboard purchases, at an airport (after a cruise) before flying back to Australia. I'm not sure whether the same applies to a wine package though. Good luck!
  9. Sounds at or below 70 A-weighted decibels (dBA) are generally safe. Long or repeated exposure to sounds at or above 85 dBA can cause hearing loss. On a previous favourite line we noticed the music volume steadily increasing from around 2017. On our last cruise with that line - and I mean our last ever - volume was consistently above 85 decibels and at times up to 100 decibels. Our concerns fell on deaf ears - no pun - I am sure that many of the regular entertainment team have variable degrees of hearing loss and I really feel for bar servers who have to work shifts in the affected areas
  10. We were impressed with the music volume on Eclipse last December and hope for similar on Solstice next month. A sound technician checked the volume prior to each set in the live music areas we frequented. I have a sound meter on my android phone and the volume was consistently set at 80 decibels, 5 decibels lower than the level that becomes dangerous to one's hearing. We did not notice abominably loud music in any area and unlike a previous cruise on a different ship, the sound in the theatre was well balanced and enjoyable. If music is dangerously loud we will not stay in that area, nor will we stay with a line where entertainment crew and hotel manager are unresponsive to our concerns.
  11. I have not seen it on Celebrity, but on another line - a sizeable family group providing alcohol to under age members of that family and being quite disruptive in a forward lounge area - climbing on furniture and being generally obnoxious - totally disrupting the enjoyment of others. They were removed from the area by security - I am not sure whether they completed the cruise.

  13. Are you in a Concierge Suite or a Celebrity Suite? "we asked for Evian and Perrier for our concierge suite" "I didn’t think it included Celebrity Suites"
  14. We discovered that yesterday when looking to get the 10% bonus for our October cruise. Confirmed no longer available by phone. Also told it might come back. 🤣
  15. It's the upcharge combined with the downsizing of products that annoys me when shopping in a supermarket.
  16. Discontinued at the end of the trial period - now "under discussion" so remains to be seen whether it remains eliminated from indoor spaces.
  17. Other - nickel and diming - devaluation of the product we purchased some time ago - the latest to affect lovers of chocolate chip cookies is a charge of $2.00 plus 20% gratuity - what next??? Photo on this thread :
  18. This cruise departs Sydney and arrives Singapore.
  19. I really hope the person to whom you spoke was mis-informed! 😬 It might be time for another email to Celebrity. We are committed to our fully paid October cruise, but if vaping is allowed fleet wide the other five will be cancelled - fortunately booked before the astronomical hike in deposits. 🤑
  20. No email notification for us either for any of our booked cruises. A bit concerned about a team being as aware of food allergies as an individual would be when discussing and ordering a room service meal. We will see how our October cruise goes and especially if vaping goes fleet wide we will be gone.
