Thought it would be nice to wish all of 2010 World Cruisers a Bon Voyage!!

Tomorrow is the day that you set sail at sea...

May the sun shine brightly with the ocean calm as can be...

May your bags be all packed and full to the brink

And your clothes be too big, cause sea air makes them shrink...

So you must be excited with your head in a swirl...

Cause tomorrow you start to circumnavigate the WORLD!

Good lord what an itinerary!!! May i be honest (and for fear of being screamed at by my fellow CC`ers) I think i would go absolutely stir crazy if i had to spend 104 nights on a ship. Having been on the Dawn Princess, i found my 13 night cruise just enough.

I even think if i had the Duplex Suite on the QM2 i would be a little worse for wear after 3 months at sea  I really have to admire these people that can do it....i think my problem is i have to constantly be amused, and the idea of just lying back and watching the world go past would only excite me for about 5 minutes, then i would want to get off hehe.

Nonetheless, i am sure, those on board are literally having their holiday of a lifetime and i hope everyone has the most amazing time! :)

"the idea of just lying back and watching the world go past"

ha ha ... that is like music to my ears.... LOL

I guess when i think about the places we are going to see, that excitment alone counteracts the sea days... but I am bias as I love sea days too... LOL

ok now for blogs... these have either been publically given out on the roll call or I have googled them....

Thanks for the blogs Joanne, and thanks for putting up the thread. Its good to have a reference to them on page 1, thats why I put up the itinerary as well, so we can refer back to it, if we want to, as the thread and the cruise progress.

Thanks David and Joanne for putting up the itinerary and blogs. Now I'll have file them in my One Note folder so I can find them quickly.

Oh dear, Jas, I don't think you can be termed a true 'cruise tragic'!!!!!! I would have no trouble 'putting up with' that number of days! :D

Thanks for the info David. We were talking about the distance to be travelled on the way to the airport this morning. Our four friends travelling were SO very excited....what a trip of a lifetime.

I'll text them with the actual distance now....we all guessed much less than that.:o

heheh i wish it was for me too Joanne, i have always been far too hyperactive. Dont get me wrong it sounds idyllic, but i just think i would get too restless....looking forward to reading the blogs though:)

Hi Jas, I think you could manage it ..... it's easy.... just when you start to get cabin fever, another port pops up. You might surprise yourself!!;)

When I was young we did a 52 day Asia on the Cathay (including 10 days in Hong Kong), a 47 day on the Fairstar to Asia (via Perth:eek:) and another 45 day to Asia on Fairstar. I think, all together I spent over 6 months on board Fairstar alone (Sitmar days of course not P & O). Every time we returned to Sydney we wanted to go round again.

I think this looks fantastic:D, I hope they all have a great time. What an adventure....I am sooo jealous. I hope they post regularly so we can keep up.

Good God Jenny, thats even worse :p. I couldnt imagine spending 52 days on the Fairstar. I remember seeing something on the news maybe back in 92, where the air conditioning and sewerage broke down and people were sleeping on deck chairs etc.

I suppose i see the 2 main issues for me would be `living`in one of those cabins on Dawn for 3 months (especially an inside one) Joanne i`d be curious to know what type of cabin you have booked. I suppose the other thing is i know how much money we spent on our 13 nighter, i cant comprehend what i would go through on a world cruise hehe.

Dont get me wrong, still totally jealous. The excitement levels right now for those people must be off the meter :)

Haha Jas, I did say it was Sitmar days not P & O (better food/service/atmosphere), never had any mechanical issues when we were on board. We always had a two berth outside for mum and dad and us 3 teenagers in a separate outside cabin on A deck (with private facillities)

When P & O got her they tacked/bolted on a huge deck extension over her prominade deck at the back ruining her profile and astro turfed her beautiful scrubbed teak upper decks :eek:. (the style police should have arrested someone over that). I guess their maintenance schedule was related to their taste:rolleyes: and she seriously deteriorated from then on.

We had a great time anyway, I always remember sitting up in the Jungle room drinking Galliano thickshakes and watching the ocean and having a laugh with all my friends.

But Cazz its a lot different on a world cruise.

At home do you go out drinking and spending every night?

You have to pace yourself.

Its the same with the food.....

I could not eat rich fancy food night after night, and thats why they will have several "plain " dishes on the menu to give you a choice.

Imagine Lobster and Beef Wellington , every night , night after night.

You would be longing for a good feed of sausages and mashed potatoes:D
