I was walking my dog yesterday and stumbled on this Great Blue Heron. I was bummed I didn't have my better telephoto on me and the lighting wasn't better but it was cool to be so close.

The funny thing is I didn't notice the bird at first. I noticed an odd shadow on the sidewalk (his tail) and said something about wondering what kind of tree was causing it. DH poked me and pointed up - the wall was a bit taller than me. Thank goodness I tend to take my camera with me when we go for a walk.
