I am on the ship!!!!

We are sitting in front of the Cupcake Cupboard. It is a cute litle place that sells cupcakes for an additional cost ($2.50). I bought a lemon...how could I not try one...and it was good, but not great. But who cares!! I am on the Oasis!! SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I am overwhelmed!

So we boarded early...about 11:10. So easy, so quick!! The Windjammer wasn't open but we waited outside (we were first in line) and it opened about 11:20. The food was ok. I was too excited to eat so it didn't matter. We can't roam because of our heavy carry ons, which is why we are planted here for another 15 minutes watching thousands of people walking past us. Some from my thread have recognized me as I sit on the laptop!!! Too funny!!. But deck 5 is so energized!! i have talked to so many wonderful crew members and they are OUTSTANDING!!

Heading up to the room to get rid of these heavy bags and then we will explore every crevice!!!! See you all later.

Ok, I have to share a semi-funny story. After we got our sea pass cards (there was a tear of joy in my eye) and had our picture taken, we went into the elevator (too much carry on) to come upstairs. We got to floor 2 and the elevator didn't open! All of a sudden it said out of service and it was stopped. I am claustrophobic and I FREAKED!! There were a few tears and they were not of joy and we are trying to open the doors with the button and nothing! Hubby presses floor 1 to go down and it moves! we go down and get to floor 1 and nothing! says out of service. Finally the door opens. I finally laughed..well it took a few minutes...and we took the escalator up.

The first cruise we ever took was from New York City. We get to the terminal and there was a choice of stairs or elevator. So some one says that the elevators are this way. My response was that I didn't wait this long to get this close only to get stuck in an elevator. And up the stairs I went.

Hi Wendy! Boy, you have NO IDEA what an amazing ship you are going to be going on!!

Got the luggage in the room and started exploring. First thing we did was find the Diamond Plus lounge...sooo cute! Then we found our table in the dining room and HATED it...first time. Of course the amazing crew, being as they are, got it changed for us with a smile. We are now dining on deck 4.

This ship is HUGE!!! We have walked and walked and got lost many times. It is a beautiful incredible ship and we have barely seen it yet. I am happy to report that I found the info I had copied of those "hidden" places and located the 2 I had. One is overlooking the Aqua theater and rock wall. It is a secluded area and I loved it there. The other, for sail-away, is above the solarium and has to be the best place on this ship. We intend on watching from there and hope not too many people find it. I will explain where it is later. I have limited time right now as I need to freshen up because I am meeting my M and M thread in Dazzles at 3:15...then the drill..then sail-away...then 6:00 dinner. We have soooo much to see and explore and feel actually overwhelmed, in a GOOD WAY, by it all. Hubby is next to me having a ball looking at our personalized calender on the TV. There are touch screens at the elevators to locate what you need to find. I am BLOWN away by this ship. More later. Can I say this now....OMG!!!!!! OMG!!!!

Was the Diamond Plus lounge you are talking about the one that overlooks the Promenade? As a D+ are you able to use the Concierge Lounge? thx

Thank you Ronnie!

Ronnie was one of the great people on my 2007 Explorer cruise (where I was on the Love and Marriage Show and met my heartthrob, CD Alan Brooks up close and personal.)

I was one of them!!!!!! I will be reading your posts.. I feel like I am going to cry......

Can't wait to read more of your thread, Denise. We have another 8 months until we sail on Allure, but the itinerary is the same, so...

But don't spend all your time on the PC -- slow down and enjoy yourself!

I am so thankful for you doing this!!!!!! I feel as if I am already on board. Can't wait to continue with your posts......but most of all you ENJOY.

Can you tell me if the soda on board is the fountain type or have they gone to cans. We get the soda package and like fountain drinks, however I saw cans in someones pics. Carnival had cans and it was just not the same. Thanks

Hi Denice,

I am almost as excited as you. Looking forward to your LIVE report. We booked, like many others, in Aug 08, so it has been a long time coming. We go in Oct on a b2b.

I do have 2 questions, if you could find out for me: when boarding with a scooter in FLL, do we have to do the zigzag or is there an elevator for the handicap (they have this in LAX).

Also, I hear that there is a button in the Elevator that says gangway and it is programmed when they arrive in port. Now from what I read, it leads you to an escalator, could you find out how the scooters/wheechairs get off at the ports.

Enjoy your cruise and looking forward to living through your week on the Oasis.

Bye for now

Suz

We were on the Oasis this past January and my DH is a wheelchair user. When you get off the elevator at the gangway instead of taking the escalator down there is an elevator located just to the right of the escalator for the disabled. You will find this wonderful ship very accessible for people with mobility issues.

Thank you for your answer, that is a relief. What about when you board the ship in Ft. Lauderdale, do you have to do the zigzag gangway or do you have an elevator to get to the top of the gangway like in LAX.

Denice, enjoying your excitement, I am just as excited for you being on this great ship. Look forward to reading all about your cruise and all the things that you find and do. Both of you, enjoy yourself.

Hi everyone!

I did a quick scan of your posts, so please forgive me if I don't respond to everyone as I may not have time but to post my day. I am EXHAUSTED!

Let me start backwards for a second. We just walked in from the 9:30 Hairspray show. My husband and i thought it was the best show we have seen on a cruise ship..LOVED IT!! We may even see it again..it was that good!!

Last we spoke...I spoke????.....we did some more exploring. This ship is BEAUTIFUL and we yet to see half of it! Too much to do, and little time it seems. The day, and night, were over before I knew it!! The promenade curves and has such energy..lots of fun to sit and have a cookie and watch everyone go by!

I can't believe how beautiul Central Park is. There is no way you can imagine you are on a ship when out there!

We watched the sail-away from that area on the 14th floor...over the bridge and under the solarium. It was the perfect place!

We had to change where we are eating tomorrow night. the menu at 150 Central Park is not for us, so we cancelled and booked Giovanis instead. I will give you the menu tomorrow.

We ate at 6pm in the MDR. Since we hated our original table, we could only get a table for 2, which actually is fine. I took pictures of the menu, so I will save that for my review, our waiter was great and it was a nice meal.

After we ate, we strolled outside on the Boardwark and Central Park and then donated some money in the Casino. About 8:30 we had a cookie and watched people on the Promenade.

We got to the theatre at 9 for the 9:30 show of Hairspray, and it was filling up fast. Like I said...just an awesome show!

Got to see Richard Spacey, the CD, for the first time and we did think he was very funny!!!

I am bleary eyed but here goes...

Hi Shazz!! (she sat in the front row of the Love and Marriage Show I was in and saw first hand my rubbing Allan Brooks's butt!!)

Miss Dot ~~~~ cans..I agree...don't like them

Laurie~~~~North of Boston

Nancy ~~~ I had so much luggage I could have fit all of you in...didn't need broad shoulders!!

Diamond Plus is indeed above the promenade. We tried to go into the one on 11 and the guy said it was for suites only.

Cruiselover ~~~ glad to help!!!

Tomorrow we are in Nassau from 7-2, but we are staying on this magnificent ship. I want the pool and mango tangos and to explore a lot more. It was overwhelming today. I need to slow down and smell the flowers, the coffee, the greenery in Central Park etc etc. LOVE THIS SHIP!!!!

Until tomorrow....NITE ALL!!
