Julzizzle Posted October 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2010 HuRRY!! Need advice quick!! Sail out sunday!!! Would you do it? What are all the perks? It is a guarantee suite so what are the chances of getting stuck in an obstructed view cabin etc? Thanks!
DonnaK Posted October 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2010 which ship? If it's $300 total (not per person), I think I'd go for it. Not just for the extra space, but also for the extra cruise credits. Maybe check the RCI website to see which JS cabins are still available before you decide. ChipLondon Posted October 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Which ship and how many nights cruising, is it per person or for the cabin.
cb at sea Posted October 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2010 There are no "real" perks, other than priority boarding, and the 2 C&A points....you will have a much larger space, a tub/shower, walkin closet and wider balcony. I'd do it for $300...no brainer!
yogimax Posted October 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2010 The critical question is whether it is $300 per person or cabin. Big difference!
flcruzer03 Posted October 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Op appears to be sailing on Freedom with a 2 yr old..based on that I would upgrade to the JS..the extra room would be sooo worth it...unless it's $300pp to upgrade...
njoyndride Posted October 15, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2010 With a 2yr old the bathtub would be worth every penny.
bplazo Posted October 15, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 15, 2010 If it is $300.00 total I would upgrade.
cruisin4kicks Posted October 15, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Agree with everyone else. $300 total to upgrade to a JS for a 7 night cruise would be a no-brainer for me. Tim
Northern Bear Posted October 15, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Wish I would have done it when I had the chance. Now they want over $1500 per person.
lady_cruiser Posted October 15, 2010 #11 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Jr. Suite without even one hestitation. The extra room you will get with the Jr. Suite plus a balcony is worth any obscured view.
cb at sea Posted October 15, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 15, 2010 No JS has full obstruction, anyway....I've been in on with a so-called "partial" obstruction that obstructed nothing!

tiggyfrank Posted October 15, 2010 #17 Share Posted October 15, 2010 That would be an awesome deal. How do you find out about these deals anyways? Do you just keep looking up your cruise as a new reservation to get prices?

Merion_Mom Posted October 15, 2010 #19 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Very true. Saw a GREAT price drop on a cruise while at work (don't tell my boss) drove home (10 minute drive) and it was GONE when I got home. Lesson learned:) Two weeks ago, I found a HUGE price drop on my SW tickets to Florida for this December. It was a real pain to deal with their website at work, because I have everything "saved" and on "automatic" on my home computer, but I worked my way through the process. It turned out to be a good choice, because two hours later, the price was gone. And I mean that this was a HUGE drop.

You should call anyway, your cruise is 2 days away, they just won't take any more new bookings this late so they close the bookings, Doesn't mean they won't allow you to upgrade. If there is still any Junior Suites available they just might let you upgrade since you are already booked on that sailing. I would call for sure and see what they say. Karter Posted October 15, 2010 #21 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Something that happened to me might make you feel better. I had a similar opportunity when an upgraded cabin became availabile and tried to upgrade but RCI wouldn't let because of the following: 1. I booked it after the new price drop policy went into effect that doesn't allow price adjustments after final payment. 2. I was after final payment. 3. The upgraded cabin had dropped from where it was when I booked so it was interpreted as a price drop and not allowed per policy. Since I have dealt with RCI before and gotten different stories I tried calling three times including the Crown & Anchor desk and was told the same thing everytime. So maybe it would have worked for you but being a week out you may have had the same conditions I did and not been able to upgrade anyway.

sellwingri Posted October 16, 2010 #24 Share Posted October 16, 2010 We actually did the same thing last week (Adventure OTS 12/12). There are 3 of us and it cost us $450. It happened to be the last Junior Suite available so we figured, what the heck - let's go for it. We were on a Junior Suite on Princess once and the extra room is really nice!
