Bunti Posted December 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2010 Michelle Obama chose a lovely 1950's Norman Norell dress to wear for the "Christmas in Washington" concert which will be on TV tonight. People posted a pic and short article. I LOVE it!! Although I would have liked to see red or sparkly shoes. I am short and not much of a waist, so I couldn't wear it, but the dress is a grown up ballerina style that I dreamed of as a child. Here is the link. Opinions, ladies? I would love something reminiscent of this for a truly formal night. http://stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com/2010/12/17/michelle-obama-makes-history-in-vintage-norman-norell-dress/
Cuizer2 Posted December 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2010 The dress and the rest of the outfit looks fine. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Buster27 Posted December 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2010 I don't think it looks bad ON her.....but I hate the dress.
Kellie Poodle Posted December 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2010 I love the dress. It is so "Audry Hepburn" If someone took up the hem, it would fit me great. I'm only 5'2" but I have a small waist and those kind of dresses always flatter my figure.
luckycruzer Posted December 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 18, 2010 as long as I look as good/great, as I possibly can. Most gals look terrif in black..it is good to me with all my big white boofy hair ! and a few twinkly baubles.

cb at sea Posted December 19, 2010 #11 Share Posted December 19, 2010 The dress itself is ok, but it looks horrid on her. So far, her clothing choices for her body have not been the best, IMO! I wonder if she has a stylist or if she dresses herself....if it's a stylist, they should be fired! Hopefully, it not a case of our tax dollars at work! msgisfree Posted December 19, 2010 #12 Share Posted December 19, 2010 The dress is beautiful, and her arms are to die for. Not many women can pull the look of, but she did it!
smoothdancer Posted December 19, 2010 #13 Share Posted December 19, 2010 I like the dress, think it is wonderful for the occasion.... Unlike CB I usually like what the first lady wears.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted December 19, 2010 #14 Share Posted December 19, 2010 While the dress isn't my style, I still think it's beautiful. And I think it suits the First Lady's figure. She looks good in square necklines, her arms are good, and the skirt doesn't appear to accentuate what doesn't need accentuating....!
Gathina Posted December 19, 2010 #15 Share Posted December 19, 2010 I like the dress on her..it doesn't scream "Look at me!!" like her other ones do. I think she dresses better than she used to..before she was first lady, she dressed average and looked average like the rest of us. She does overdo it on the botox, though..when she did the commercials for the Red Cross for Haiti earthquake her forehead was really frozen! The dress itself is ok, but it looks horrid on her. So far, her clothing choices for her body have not been the best, IMO! I wonder if she has a stylist or if she dresses herself....if it's a stylist, they should be fired! Hoyaheel Posted December 19, 2010 #16 Share Posted December 19, 2010 I love the dress, and I love the black patent heels with it too - I think those big earrings are just the right amount of bling for her, plus the tulle of the dress.
bookpusher Posted December 20, 2010 #17 Share Posted December 20, 2010 I like the dress and it looks great on her. I think the black shoes work with it, too. Her wardrobe choices are often disappointing and at times even tacky, (sorry, that is my honest opinion) but she hit a homerun with this one. Langley Cruisers Posted December 20, 2010 #18 Share Posted December 20, 2010 I think she looks amazing and the black shoes were the right choice (IMO). Anything other than black and people would be commenting on the shoes.

Bakincakes Posted December 26, 2010 #22 Share Posted December 26, 2010 Not a good choice for her..she is too hippy for that kind of skirt. Who is the woman next to her? That dress is horrid..looks like someone ripped a "vintage" table cloth off of the dining room table and swathed her in it.

Barb Nahoumi Posted December 28, 2010 #25 Share Posted December 28, 2010 The First Lady's dress is a timeless style which I would wear in a heartbeat. However, I might want the fullness of the skirt reduced a bit. The black shoes look nice with it, but metalics would give it some punch. First Grandma's dress is ok. She just needs a bra with better lift.
