"Collectors Voyage" and Tenders

Hullo,

Just some more queries:

-Do any additional benefits accrue to passengers on a "Collectors Voyage"(Magic of the Med - May 2011)?

-Where tenders are used is there a specific timetable as to when and how many times they operate? What happens if you cut short a shore visit and wish to return to the ship?

Many thanks

Seems like we had a special lunch on our Collector cruise last summer. Other than that I don't recall any additional benefits other than the days accruing for your Mariner status.

As to tenders they are available to transport to and from the ship the entire time the ship is at the port. Said another way, if your ship departs at 5 but you wish to return at 3, that is no problem. You will find a tender waiting to take you back anytime you wish. You might have to wait a few minutes for it to leave but thats about it.

If you are on a ship's excursion -- your ticket will indicate the time and place you are to report to get on the tender. You are taken down to the tenders according to the various times of the tours.

If you are not on a ship's excursion and wish to go ashore -- in the Explorer (new name for the daily program) there will be listed the lounge where you are to report to to get a tender ticker (number). Once the majority of the ship's excursions are off the ship, then they will begin to call the numbers to report to the tenders. You must remain in that lounge as the numbers are only called out in that lounge.

As for returning to the ship -- whenever you are ready to return -- just report back to the pier and get in line with everyone else.

The tenders run all the time you are report. One other thing -- if the port time to leave is at 4 PM, for example, the last tender back to the ship will be one half hour (3:30 in this eample) before the ship sails.

the tenders run all day back and forth until the last one. Depending upon when you choose to return there may be a line up but it usually is ok.

On our last cruise, they did announce when the tender tickets were ready to be picked up. We didn't have to wait in the lounge. There will be instructions on board regarding tenders and announcements.

It's really easy, have no fear :)

Excellent details KK but one comment, we are almost always on the first tender to leave the ship (we show up at the lounge to get tickets early ;)). My point is that we have never had to wait while excursions went in front of us. That certainly could happen depending on when you try to leave the ship but I am just pointing out that you don't have to wait for all excursions to leave.

It really depends on how many people are on excursions and how many excursions there are for a port.

Being in a Deluxe Suite we can leave any time we want to.

But we have been on ships and heard independent people gripping about not being able to get a tender for over an hour as so many tours had to be taken care of first.

There will be a small amount of other items- special logs, menus, meetings with Staff, etc, in addition to an additional reception (above the other standard events for Mariners) for people on the Collectors Voyage. Our Reception was an open bar for an hour one night. The Captain was there.

So, in summary, a few extra trinkets, none of any huge value, plus at least one additional reception. Seems to me there was an additional lunch as well, but I maybe confusing things a little.

On our first Collector's Cruise there was a special cocktail party for those of us staying over for the next voyage. No special lunch.

On our Second Collector's Cruise -- no special cocktail party. There was a buffet lunch and they made it sound like it was only for us -- but it wasn't -- anyone on the ship was allowed to attend it. So on this cruise -- nothing special.

No special meetings with the staff -- nothing.

It appears that things differ from ship to ship.

KK is right, as usual!

It all varies from ship to ship.

We had an excellent Indonesian lunch on one Collector's, on another there was an Indonesian buffet (only for those on the Collector's). Sometimes there is a Cocktail party for those on the Collector's, at one of which there was an introduction to the shorex for the second cruise.

Tenders run back and forth from ship to shore to ship all day as long as the ship is in port. When you are ready, just go to the tender dock for your transfer back to the ship.

We have done a number of Collector's cruises and aside from a small discount and 'sometimes' a Mariners Tote, there are no benefits. I have heard they sometimes offer a special luncheon on the 'turnaround day' for Collectors' cruisers and sometimes a cocktail party but that is very variable.

We'll for one thing the Collectors cruises are about 10% less expensive than booking the two cruises separately..

We just got off the Noordam & I don't remember anything special for those of us on the "Collectors cruise"..

As others have said, the tenders run all day usually about every 15-30 minutes apart, depending on the port..The last tender usually is about 30 minutes prior to departure..

Cheers.... :)Betty

We were just on our First Collector's voyage - only perk was a free dinner in the Tamarind.

Didn't you receive the larger HAL tote bag with the blue trim & the outside lower pocket during the second segment of your "Collector's" cruise? Apparantly, it is two year promotion which began in March/April 2010!:) (Never heard of a free dinner in the Tamarind though)!

We didn't get the bag on our 20 day Collectors Cruise on Noordam in Aug/Sept. In fact we only got one bag (the standard one) total, for the cruise.
