Yeah! Someone not in their 20's.....

NAME? Staci

AGE? 42

LINE/SHIP Carnival Victory

WEDDING PORT Barbados

WEDDING DATE December 12, 2012 (12/12/12)

HOW LONG TOGETHER WITH S2B (Spouse 2 Be)? 6 yrs

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A CRUISE WEDDING? we LOVE cruising (love it so much I became a travel agent for Expedia Cruiseship Centers! LOL) and since it's not our first weddings we wanted it small & casual. Plus our families can afford to come with us (although most of them don't know yet...we're announcing it "officially" with our Christmas cards).

HOW MANY GUESTS (SAILING AND NON-SAILING)? don't know yet although my 3 sisters & spouses and my s2b's brother & his wife have booked rooms

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? My dream wedding on a beach and finally getting married to the love of my life in front of our family & friends.

Aww Julie I think you have found the BEST solution... and your day will be perfect. I do think you are much better without that MOH. Afterall, they are supposed to help relieve and divert the stress not create it.;)

Larry and I will be the only ones standing too. He won't have a BM but his father will sign as his witness... our wedding party will be our children and grandchildren, The girls (28, 23, 13) will walk Our 2 grandchildren then my son 22 will escort me. they will all be seated somewhere in front. Our rings will be in a long stem silver rose ringholder stuck in the center of our youngest daughters bouquet. :)

What a great idea for your rings!!! I might have to copy that I hope you don't mind.

:) Hi ciarra220 and welcome! We really thought about doing getting married a few weeks before and just doing the vow renewal because your right it is WAY cheaper! I went back and forth and we ended up picking the beach wedding but sometimes I wish i would have do the renewal, it is basically the same thing. Congrats!!!

Nisha, you have PLENTY of time but I would send your STD cards now so people can start saving up. If you don't want to do that just yet, how about a nice custom holiday card that mentions it? You could have your website up and running before the middle of dec with the bulk of the info people need to book. Our std cards went out 11 mos before the wedding but I would have done it earlier if we hadn't booked 1 year to the day in advance.

I know it's maddening to not even have a ballpark number. I've been dealing with that one for months now. We just sent our invites last week and already have a few responses (all no so far.) Normally, the invites wouldn't even have gone out yet but every time I call TWE, she wants a number of guests to get me any info. What you have to remember is that planning a cruise wedding is a totally different animal than a wedding at home so those traditional time lines are completely useless. Just do things how they will work for you and if that means sending a STD card more than a year in advance, go for it. I really think the holiday card idea with a blurb about what you're planning and a website to get more information might be a good course of action for you. Look around online. You can get them printed for less than what it would cost you to go buy generic cards at the store if you find the right supplier.

wouldn't mind at all... ordered and received the ring holder 4 days later and I'm totally thrilled with it. It is a bit heavy but nothing she can't hang onto for a bit :)

It does NOT fit both rings side by side, but being his fingers are much bigger than mine, His ring lays flat circling mine perfectly. (with a small floral pic, we can secure his ring so it doesn't flop around if she puts bouquet upsidedown);)

:):) your dress is really cute and i love your idea for the luggage tags. I am also a Magic Bride but not until may 17 so pleas share your experience! As far as my bouquet i was just going to use the one included in our package. It is a mix of tropical flowers, we are actually getting married on the beach so it is more fitting. You bouquet is beautiful and totally matches the "vintage theme" you have going on. I never thought of dong my own with fake flowers. Good idea and congrats!!!

That's a gorgeous bouquet! I will definitely share my experience, but it sounds like you will be two weeks before me. Let me know how everything works for you.

Congrats!! I am also getting married on Carnival Magic!! Mine is May 20, 2012! Do you live close to Galveston?

I live in San Antonio. What about you?

Where are all of you brides setting sail in Galveston from?

Tasha - You still have plenty of time :) Although I would suggest starting to look soon!

Hello fellow 2012 brides!! I have a question as to how you all are planning to travel with your dress. We are flying in a day early and getting married before the ship sets sail. My future mil is concerned about me having to put my dress in a suitcase. Just curious about how everyone is going to travel with thier dress. Thanks!!

We're taking the train in a compartment so I never have to allow the dress out of my sight! (No, really, I just HATE flying and LOVE the train.)

From what I've seen here and on other boards, many girls are able to carry their dressed on and ask the flight attendant to put it in the planes closet. If you were to do this, I would expect it would be easier if you were one of the first passengers to get on and last passengers to get off. I would contact the airline and ask if I were you. I'm sure they all have different policies when it comes to this.

Hi all,

I would love to join all of you 2012 Brides. I need all the help I can get!

NAME? Annette

AGE? 36

LINE/SHIP Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas, we are getting married at port in Boston

WEDDING PORT Barbados

WEDDING DATE October 28, 2012

HOW LONG TOGETHER WITH S2B (Spouse 2 Be)? 6 yrs

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A CRUISE WEDDING? We wanted a unique venue and we were already thinking of booking our honeymoon on this ship anyway so why not book our wedding too! We just love to go on cruises!

HOW MANY GUESTS (SAILING AND NON-SAILING)? We will likely invite about 50-60 people. Since this is a 14 night cruise, I'm not sure if many people can get the time off to sail with us.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? Wearing my beautiful wedding dress and exchanging our vows to one another. I already drafted vows to my future step sons and we have a 3 year old together.

My fiance and I flew to Jamacia this past June. There were 3 brides on the plane getting married in Jamacia. All 3 were able to carry their dress on the plane. We sat in 1st class (got lucky) and there was a hanging compartment there. All 3 girls were able to place their dresses there themselves. One girl even came back up during the flight to check on her dress ;). We flew Delta.

I have seen pictures and read on the boards that some officiants stand to the side during the ceremony so that the bride and groom face the guest. Does anyone other than me have a problem with this? Both me and FI are shy and I just think it would be better if we were not facing our guests. Plus the officiant always stands behing the bride and groom and I think the pictures may look funny if he/she is not behind us... I hate not knowing who will officiate our wedding, otherwise I probably wouldn't be having this issue.

I agree. I just recently saw a this on a video and thought it was little strange. I would want the officiate to stand behind us as they do for most weddings...I hope they give you an option!

Me too.. I also saw a video and it was like one of the two had to strain to see the officiant. I want to be looking at my FI and not having to twist my neck looking at the officiant. I think I am going to call Carnival and request mine stand behind us.

;) I do not know what cruise line you are using, but I am going through Carnival and although we do not who our officiant will be, we were able to proof read the ceremony and make changes ( which I did, I re-wrote the whole thing.) I can contact the off ship wedding coordinator who deals with setting everything up and the local officiant. We are getting married off the ship so we have to go through her. But ether way I would not stress about it, if you want him to stand behind you and your FI and you guys facing him then just make sure you or someone tells him that the day of the wedding, it is not like it is a hard thing to change, and it is your day so he or she should do as you ask. I know it sucks not to know for sure until the day of and having to stress about it till then but try to remind yourself that they do this all the time and I am sure each bride like things a little differently, they should accommodate your request happily. Just do not forget to tell them as soon as you can =) that's the only bad part for me about being a Cruise bride, is not being able have every having planed for sure untill the last min. I like to have everything done and ready months in advance and with this i just have to let it go and hope for the best lol good luck :)

I actually really like that the officiants stand out of the way - otherwise in every picture there's this complete stranger right in the middle of the couple. As long as we can hear him/her for our cues for the ceremony I'm happy to have the officiant off to the side. Will make for much nicer Pics! :)
