Though I am filling away all of this helpful info posted by others for future reference. While I do not consider it essential to have cigars while on vacation, it is certainly a nice perk that I enjoy. Also, one more thing that I forgot to point out earlier, but the selection of cigars at Churchill's on Discovery left much to be desired. Only one side of the humidor was occupied by inventory and selection was hardly what i would call robust. Since I am not a regular cigar smoker I am unsure if the various supply chain and inventory issues effecting other industries has had an impact on cigar manufacturing, but I thought it was worth pointing out. Thanks for the info. Tony

Are you trying to avoid or find them? This ship was previously positioned in the Asian market, where smoking was allowed in the Asian market and could be different than the US market. Some of the smoking areas should be the same as other Grand Class ships. Promenade starboard side all the way aft outside Club Fusion. Deck 15 by Tradwinds Bar. A section of Skywalker's Nightclub in the evening. Churchill Lounge for cigars & pipes. Some casino slots while playing. Maybe the Wake View Bar if open. There could be others for crew once the ship begins sailing in September.
candydane Posted June 25, 2022 #1279 Share Posted June 25, 2022 Is Churchill Lounge usually the only place for cigars and pipes? It's been several years since we cruised a Grand Class ship.

The most accurate answer to your question is: you never know exactly where smoking will be allowed until you board and explore the ship. Today it's 'there', tomorrow it's 'over here'. But there will always be a section to enjoy a cigarette somewhere unless a ship has banned smoking altogether. You just go find it after you board.

Usually smoking areas are not moved around. They are fairly standard across the classes of ships. They should be listed in the Patter on the first day. Outdoors: Deck 16 a section by the Tradewinds Bar. Tables and chairs are there. Deck 7, starboard aft a small standing section just before the the promenade narrows to go around the stern. Standing. Indoors: Churchill Lounge, deck 6 forward. This is the only place where cigar and pipe smoking is allowed. Casino, about half the slots while playing. The remainder of the casino is smoke free including table games and the casino bar. Skywalker's Nightclub may have a smoking section in the evening, possibly also during the daytime. There may also be some crew smoking areas related to covid plus maybe some cabins that are used for quarantine purposes.

Steelers36 Posted September 1, 2022 #1293 Share Posted September 1, 2022 It's long past high time PCL banned smoking indoors at all (except for the closed Churchill's I could live with). Only public place left is the casino. Heck, I'd be happy with 100% NS, but I don't mind one outdoors area that would be as aft as possible so the smoke wafts away as soon as possible in the wind. They had the chance when they placed the indoor ban due to Covid and they blew it by reverting to their former policy.

The only reason I even knew the rules (or some version thereof) was that I think it's hilarious that cigar smokers object to the smell of cigarettes. I'll think of you when I march in there in December and light up.
GoHuskies! Posted September 5, 2022 #1300 Share Posted September 5, 2022 Funny how the odors of each different set of smokers irritate the others. I am certainly overwhelmed by concentrated cigar smoke and for that reason buy pipe tobacco online rather than in a smoke shop, where one can hardly breathe. Yet cigars don’t bother me nearly as much as cigarette smoke. The mere whiff of a distant cigarette is irritating to me and absolutely pervasive within great distances. It’s unfortunate that pipes and cigars are BOTH lumped together onboard ships—I don’t want to smoke anything in a cigar lounge, or even a cigarette lounge if one exists. Admittedly I am a very infrequent pipe smoker at all—always outdoors, never in, and sometimes weeks in between. But I would enjoy a pipe while on a cruise vacation if I could find a legitimate place outdoors.
