No cigar bars in any open area. Besides the proven second hand health hazard cigars and pipes have a very unpleasant smell that lingers in the air and penetrates into surrounding furnishings. Difficult enough to pass by the doors of the cigar lounges now.

Cigar bars have never been in an open area on any ship I’ve been on. I’ve only seen one behind a closed door. The responsible thing to do would keep all areas smoke free to protect the health of the crew but at least with Churchills or others shipboard bars that allow smoking, non-smoking passengers can avoid second hand (and third hand) smoke. Having a smoking area in the casino is awful.

Smoking is back on the Sky Princess.  Not sure about the other ships.  This was from yesterday's Patter that someone posted on another forum.

Allowed in a section of the casino on the Regal, now. Right next to the $6 blackjack table.

Churchills on the Sky is 100% behind closed doors, Discovery and Enchanted both are too.

how's the exit ventilation ?

The smell never reached the other side, so I guess it works. Note, however, there were only 1,100 passengers on this voyage.

I am not thrilled by this.  I was really hoping the casino would remain nonsmoking, but I will settle for them enforcing the part of the smoking policy that says

"The Casino and Casino Bar are non-smoking areas on board, with the exception of designated slot machines where guests are permitted to smoke only while playing at those machines."

On our last Princess cruise the casino was being used as a smoking lounge and groups of smokers were chain smoking in there from 6am to close every day.  We could smell the smoke in the plaza and couldn't enjoy that area of the ship.

I really hope they enforce the only while playing at designated machines part of the policy on our upcoming cruise!

Just off of the Sky  (3/5-3/12)

Smoking in Churchills.  Saw smokers playing the slots in the casino.but didn't see any at the table games.

Deck 17 aft had both cigar and cigarette smokers.

Never saw a smoking section on 7.  I'm not saying it wasn't there but I never saw it.

Smoking is back on the CB last week.  And this week, too. They say every day is smoking now, but only on 1 side.  Lol  They say it is from corporate.

That smell is so bad, you can smell it in Crooner’s bar.

What I can’t believe is, they always had

no smoking on formal nights, no more.

Guess we can’t gamble. Sad

Smoking on starboard side of the casino on the Grand Princess.  No more non-smoking casino on 3 Formal Nights.  I’d like to see the sign that tells the smoke not to cross “this” line and infect the port side of the casino.

I’ve seen passengers with dangling cigarettes walking around the casino.  In addition, few passengers are masked in the casino.

It was too good to last.

Dropping the formal nights is just a step too far IMO.

Currently on the Ruby sailing to Hawaii. The smell of smoke is so bad that you can’t even enjoy any of the areas in the center of the ship. The ship is almost full and it’s really a shame. Just can’t believe Princess has allowed this.

This is truly very sad. When will Princess understand that air moves and permeates? What can we do as passengers and future passengers?

Vote with your wallet.

Yes... I did not go so far as to say that. We might have to change cruise

lines. That is tough when we know that except for the smoking issue, that Princess

is a better fit for us.

We LOVED the non smoking Casino on the Majestic on our NYE cruise.  I guess we will be heading back to Celebrity so that we can enjoying our gambling in a non smoking casino.

It is such a bummer that we do not love Celebrity.... the last time was horrid and that was pre- covid.
