Discuss Implementation of Smoking Policy

I have read a direct report (Discovery) and seems to me a I read something else hinted at this.  When Princess allowed smoking again in casinos (after stopping it supposedly due to Covid-19 and mask requirements), did they change to allowing it all cruise days?  No more ban on smoking for at least a couple of the nights ("formal" nights)???

It's bad enough, but at least before there were 2 or 3 nights off.  (I remember some years back - not too long ago - one of the ships at least was alternating nights, so there was an extra night smoke-free.

hello,,

The last cruise we were on was  Enchanted, NOV. 2021... there is still the Churchill lounge , but they took all the

cigars out of the humidor and no one was allowed to smoke cigars in there.  Just cigarettes...

really ridiculous!!! We were told some BS reasons!!!

One reason we are loyal to Princess, IS their smoking lounge.

They have an outside area with nice seating on one of the  upper decks , don't remember which.

Still it was disappointing!!!

We are currently on the Emerald in a corner aft balcony on the Baja deck. Guess what we smell and get wiffs of? You got it. Princess has been very disappointing.

My wife and I will be sailing on the Majestic soon, staying in a corner aft balcony, deck 10. We're afraid we'll get the smoke from the balconies in front of us all along the ship! We're both allergic to smoke. It would drive us inside! Is smoking on the balconies allowed? (Sorry if this question has been answered)

It isn't; it is only allowed in a few select areas.

On Crown recently, smoking every night in Casino, majority of us in Casino were non smokers.  Agree if they are concerned about COVID, smoking everywhere including casino should be banned.  The best slots and most of the slots are on the smoking side, they need to make it the non smoking side.  The smoke was so bad our normally clean lungs were burning and we were on the non smoking side.  Honestly, when on the non smoking side, it does not matter.  Also, several people smoking and flicking ashes and cigarettes over Promenade deck.  On last day at least Crew saw some people and stopped them, but when they went inside the people started up again.  Fortunately no fire, but scary.
Wish people understood that fires do start this way, I really don’t want to need my life jacket or go to my muster to evacuate the ship.

This is just my observation and don’t plan on being in Casino again, the offers aren’t worth my good health.

Appreciate others who also don’t appreciate smoking.  We have been complaining for sooo many years and the only change was when they made formal nights non smoking, however, because smokers smoked during the day prior to the start of formal night, Casino still smelled as well as formal attire, was still better to not have smoking though for a few hours.  We learned to change after dinner.

Did they have NS on the Crown on formal night?
Our

last cruises, not on the Crown, said they

don’t have any more NS nights. Disappointing.

That’s what we were told also. Very disappointed. One side of the casino was NS every night. Just across the aisle. 😂

We got off of the Grand on September 26th - a 12 night Alaska cruise, roundtrip from Vancouver, BC.

The smoke from the casino was very strong; stronger than we have ever experienced. It even permeated the Princess Theater.

Also, sitting aft on the Lido deck- deck 14 (gorgeous views), we could smell the  smoke from the  Promenade Deck -Deck 7, where the crew are still smoking. It is blocked off- still not allowing passengers through.

Also, when trying to enjoy our balcony, forward on Deck 10 (Caribe), we often smelled cigarette smoke. The guy above us and one over was smoking in the dark. He have me a dirty look.

You should have been the one to give a dirty look!👀

That’s dangerous to smoke on the balconies.

We reported one before, because he was there every aftn and evening smoking and flicking the ashes over the balcony.

We couldn’t use the balcony.  There were several cabins that complained also to GS.

So GS checked it out and no more smoking.  Voilà..

I am glad yo had good luck with the reporting. We had a bad experience on the Coral when reporting smoking on the aft deck. There were other witnesses who also reported. We had the name and cabin number of the smoker. GS did not care.

That’s too bad.  They would care if hot

ashes came back into a cabin.

That is where I would take a picture of the person at Guest Services as well as a picture of that person's name tag and inform them that, if nothing was done about the smoker, I would be sending their information to Princess with a complaint.

Someone who smokes on a ship balcony and 'flicks ashes' should be disembarked at the next port.  That's just disgusting.  NCL Pearl has a nice smoking lounge up on 13, way forward, sheltered from the wind with tables and chairs.  It's hard to be a courteous smoker and see jerks like the above guy get away with being stupid and maybe dangerous.  As I've said a hundred times, the jerks make us all look bad, I don't understand being so rude.

Good luck on writing to Princess   I have been waiting over 2 weeks for a promised “prompt” response from customer relations on a letter forwarded from our CVP regarding how covid was handled on the Royal

The three times I have sent email to Princess I have received a phone call in return. The most recent email I sent was in August of this year. The previous one was in April of this year. The first time was quite a while back and was sent in December of 2017.

Each time I received a phone call as a follow up.
