Gil T. Azell Posted February 19, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Even if he does go in and manages to play he won't be given the money if he won. ID is checked for large jackpots and if underage it will not be given. No one can collect it on his behalf either as only the player can collect and he would be denied the money due to his age. Rare LittleMissMagic Posted February 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2012 He can technically go in the casino... and walk through. But sorry, no, he can't play. He won't be able to get chips. And he won't be able to play because they will card him before he begins a game. He might be able to play some slots, but if he magically wins, he won't be able to redeem his winnings. I suggest saving your money.
wwcruisers Posted February 19, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Below is an excerpt from RCs FAQ page, which states that the legal gambling age in the casino is 18. Don't know whether they "card" in the casino, but they certainly do in the bars. FAQ What is Royal Caribbean International's Age Policy? - Royal Caribbean International GAMBLING POLICY Guests eighteen (18) years of age and older are welcome to play in our casinos (for all Alaska sailings, guests must be 21 years of age in order to play in our casinos). Rare LittleMissMagic Posted February 19, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2012 They definitely card. I'm in my 20s, and I couldn't stand still in the casino for a minute without someone carding me. They wouldn't just look at the lack of hole punches, either - every time they went to the computers and scanned it, confirming it was my photo on the card. They're very strict. Of course, I don't know a casino that isn't.
alexkrn46 Posted February 19, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2012 MY son in his 20's looks much younger is also drilled every time he enters the casino. Sorry.
Lysingers Posted February 19, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2012 My family has been on Enchantment twice, and although we can't afford to gamble ourselves, we often enjoyed just standing around watching while other passengers happily lost their hard-earned money! No one ever questioned us, although my older son was a young-looking 19 year-old, and my youngest was only 17. (Granted, a 6' 3" 230 lb. 17-year-old, but still...) So if it's just a matter of having your son accompany you while you are in the casino, playing or not, you might not have a problem either. Trainman-2 Posted February 19, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2012 6 years ago my 16 year old son (who looked much older) won $900 on a slot machine playing some of the spending money we had given him for the cruise. He got an older guy to cash out for him. He did not share his winnings with us.
rncruiser Posted February 19, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2012 This summer on Explorer my 20 year old son was asked for additional ID besides his Sea Pass card to prove he was at least 18. My 15 year old daughter was standing at the Roulette table watching him play and was asked by the attendant if she wanted to place a bet. I don't know if she would have been asked for ID if she had said yes.

If he didn't have to pay the guy some sort of fee, he was really lucky to have found someone nice who was just willing to do a kid a really big favor, wasn't he!! If I needed someone to cash in for me, I would have expected to offer them a percentage of my winnings. How did he even get the tokens to put in the slot machines? I'm calling BS on that one. Rare island lady Posted February 19, 2012 #15 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Are you talking about just being in the Casino, or gambling himself? Guess I don't get it. Why would an underage teenager want to be gambling away?

Two things wrong with the BS call... Trainman is a legend on here and would never tell an untruth or we would cut off his bread pudding allowance. Also the Explorer still uses paper money and or coins, not tokens to play.
cb at sea Posted February 20, 2012 #18 Share Posted February 20, 2012 18 year olds may gamble...under 18, they will move you along. You may walk thru, but cannot stop and watch or play or linger.

Rare LittleMissMagic Posted February 20, 2012 #21 Share Posted February 20, 2012 I suppose a lot of things can change in 6 years, as well. I still want to know who would agree to cash him out. I know if I was underage and needed someone to cash out for me, the first person I'd go to is my dad..... :D
sail2sea Posted February 20, 2012 #22 Share Posted February 20, 2012 He may be able to stay a bit. I was on Carnival a couple of months ago, Holiday sailing, thousands of kids. I think that was why they were very lenient about kids in the Casino. I saw young kids in the Casino and a young teen managed to play the Vault with cash his dad gave him. He didn't win.
