Was walking a couple of miles in the morning. With partial you have to walk back

and forward all the time.

I suppose they filled the space at the side to enlarge Casino or the flashy style

Atrium so much like Vegas.

Gee I guess I must just the simple life.

If the new Royal is like Celebrity... doubt the walkers will even want to walk back and forth... it is like being tunnel, no view of the sea. I only walked 1 or 2 times then went to the gym instead on the Celebrity ships. I was the only one out there, so guess most people felt the same way I did, totally disappointment experience. What I loved was the fresh air and view of the sea with the old decks. You have the fresh air, but no views, unless you like looking at the sides of the lifeboats.

Its must healthier to walk in the fresh air and look out to the sea.I agree with you..:)

I like full wrap around Promenade Decks. Promenade joggers, not so much. Maybe a partial Promenade will discourage the jogging?

The only reason people jog on the Promenade deck is that Princess eliminated the original jogging tracks on a number of the ships in order to put in the revenue generating Sanctuary.

Before that the Promenade had losts of walkers, but almost no joggers.

I'm with you on the promenada especially since I have cruised on the Celebrity Equniox and Eclipse, both have similar promenades, tried to use, very disappointing, no view, closed in feeling with the lifeboats hanging along side. I will stick with the Grand class ships for now.

Also, on many itineraries of the pre-Royal ships, passengers gather along the promenade deck including the front and the aft sections to view scenery. Very little of the promenade deck on the new Royal is usable for this purpose.

Hi All

The Promenade deck comes from

promenede - leisurely walk, especially one taken in a public place as a social activity

So would be better to rename life boat access deck.

Good point!!

The more I see videos of this ship, the more I think Princess is not where I belong.

So, what you're saying is that none of the other SIXTEEN (16) ships currently under active service with Princess Cruises has anything to offer you, no features or amenities, no restaurants or culinary venues that you enjoy?

Of the SIXTEEN (16) ships of the Princess Cruises fleet actually in service...

- Grand Princess

- Golden Princss

- Star Princess

- Diamond Princess

- Sapphire Princess

- Caribbean Princess

- Crown Princess

- Emerald Princess

- Ruby Princess

- Coral Princess

- Island Princess

- Sun Princess

- Dawn Princess

- Sea Princess

- Ocean Princess

- Pacific Princess

...none of them are to your liking? At all?

Last I checked, when Royal Princess comes online in June, the rest of the ENTIRE Princess Cruises fleet of SIXTEEN (16) ships wasn't going to be scrapped.

Or has this one ship, Royal Princess, the one you so proudly and definitively stated "I will not be sailing on this ship" just absolutely ruined the rest of the other SIXTEEN (16) ships for you.

You already told me to come to this thread away from your other one on this site.

I have obeyed your command.

Now you seem to want to take over this one?

Gee we cannot win either way it appears.

If I like Fords, or Chevys, or Hondas, but there is one particular model that I really do not care for, I am not going to abandon the entire line of products simply because I don't like the looks of that one car.

I am simply asking how can one ship (that isn't even in service yet) ruin the entire Princess experience since they have a fleet of SIXTEEN active ships to choose from? If someone does not like or approve of the features on Royal Princess, pick another ship. There are sixteen of them.

It's that easy. ;)

Hi All

Now now children play nice,

we do not need to agree with each others views,

but we do need to respect that it is their view

and we all have the right to post here.

While I like Princess overall,

there are things I do not like,

and I have pointed new cruisers to other lines as I thought those lines

would be a better fit for them.

And I am just the opposite. I do not like Princess overall, but there are plenty of things I do like about the new ship enough to book it, especially since my last cruise on Ruby Princess this past December was such a wash out.

I actually put down deposits on two other ships (Norwegian Gem out of NYC and Celebrity Constellation out of FLL) after I came back, but have since cancelled them and have decided to give this new ship a try anyway. I have cruised enough (only 48 times) to know what is, and isn't important to me. If a new ship comes on line and I do not like it, I don't spend every waking breath beating dead horses to prove a point. I don't incessantly whine about this, or that, or 'it was better before'.

I just pick another ship. It is that simple.

The thread you started is about 'Likes' on Royal Princess.

This thread is just the opposite.

Many of us dislike the fact that there is no wrap around promenade were walkers and joggers can get a few miles of exercise in the sea breeze. That is the reason quite a few of us take cruises to let that wonderful air get into our lungs.:) And also enjoy all entertainment on ship while keeping fit at the same time..

This is far healthier than a gym with air conditioning.

The thread I originated was more along the lines of what we are looking forward to as well as pointing out the features we like. It's also meant to be a virtual tour of the ship and promote enthusiasm and excitement for those who are booked, or are looking at booking the ship.

And you're correct. This thread is about pointing out what folks do not like about the ship. And that's great. The dislike of the fact that there is no wrap around promenade deck is a valid point for Princess Cruises traditionalist, a fact that has been re-iterated for 24 pages. And that's fine, get it off your chest. But to say that there is absolutely no alternative other than the air conditoned gym for walkers, joggers, and fresh air just goes to show how little homework you have done on this ship.

Covers roughly half the top of the ship

Whats wrong w joggers? If your cabin is under them I can see an issue. But these days, there's never a cabin under the promenade deck on the newer ships. All the cabins are up higher to they can have balconies.

A wrap around promenade is the best part of a ship. I love going for an early morning walk as the sun is first rising.

I'm fine with walkers :) it's the joggers/runners that I wish would use the jogging/running track instead of the promenade. One ship had signs on the Promenade saying "no jogging/running". Another ship that allowed jogging (not running) mentioned the hours it was okay to jog, but there were some who couldn't read english.

You must be in the Royal Princess promotional department.

We have all seen the plans, and we all ,like yourself have our own personal opinions about this design.

The promenade deck is a wind breaker .You have no shelter at all on that top

deck the wind can blow one over at times its so strong.

In a review of the Oasis, someone mentioned that unless you have an outside cabin, or go on the top deck, you'd never know you were on water. Good description of a ship without Promenade or public outside viewing decks.

Interesting comment. We're going on the oasis in couple of weeks and hope to get ocean views. We're hoping to use the promenade deck despite having lifeboats at the same level.

My favorite ships are the grand princess class. Love the promenade and variety of pools at the top deck. But the royal scares me about what princess values.

It's the difference between seeing the glass half empty, or seeing the glass half full. You are obviously a 'glass half empty' sort of person.

And I'll make you a deal. I don't sail until December, final payment due just after mid-September. If the first month or two of actual reviews from revenue passengers sailing on Royal Princess come back as negative as you have been about the entire ship, I'll be the very first person on the phone to Princess Cruises to cancel my cruise. I'll even come back to this very thread and publicly admit that you were right. How's that?

And no, I'm not in the Royal Princess promotional department. Just a guy who sees the 'glass half full'. ;)

Feel free to check out my pictures of the Allure of the Seas in my signature. Though a couple of the venues will be different the overall layout is the same. There are of course pictures taken along, and from, the Deck 5 track.

And like I mentioned before, do not be afraid of Princess Cruises. This is only one ship. Most every other one of the 16 ships in the Princess fleet will be around for decades to come.
