buffy12 Posted April 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Has anyone had this procedure done while cruising? Did they do a good job? Did you teeth hurt afterwards, how long did it take? etc, etc. Just wondering
Rare BecciBoo Posted April 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2012 That has been reviewed on these boards with not very favorable results. I'd save my money and go to a reputable dentist at home.
time4u2go Posted April 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Teeth whitening is a medical procedure. From what I understand, it's basically hairdressers that perform this procedure on a cruise ship. Not something I would be in favor of!
Rare orville99 Posted April 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2012 and one very painful dental surgery later, I would never recommend anything other than a licensed dentist to do this type of procedure. It's not worth having a tooth literally disintegrate from the dental dehydration caused by the treatment applied by an "amateur".
cb at sea Posted April 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2012 NO...DO NOT DO IT ON THE SHIP! Teeth whitening can cause EXTREME sensitivity...that is NOT something you want to deal with on vacation! Get some Crest Whitestrips....they work wonders! And, use Sensodyne while you're doing it. Why someone would trust others than either a dentist or yourself with your teeth is beyond me! Ashland Posted April 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2012 There are somethings you can do on a cruise ship..other's you shouldn't...;):D
KathyPet Posted April 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I had to click on this thread. I can't believe they actually offer this on a cruise ship. Tell me do they also offer dermal filler injections and botox???
donaldsc Posted April 10, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Why in the world would anyone even consider dental work on a cruise. Next you will be asking for botox or fat removal. DON
Ashland Posted April 10, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Why in the world would anyone even consider dental work on a cruise. Next you will be asking for botox or fat removal. Marie51 Posted April 10, 2012 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Go to a dentist at home if you want your teeth whitened. The spa staff are the ones who do it on a ship. And besides why would anyone want to get this done while on vacation?
buffy12 Posted April 11, 2012 Author #11 Share Posted April 11, 2012 Folks I use my dentist here at home and have bleach trays. I just saw it listed in spa services and was wondering if people actually did it, and if there was a dentist onboard. My choppers will stay safe while cruising. hummy0605 Posted April 11, 2012 #14 Share Posted April 11, 2012 I had it done and regretted it. It hurt and made my teeth really sensitive afterwards. Had to stay off red wine and coffee and they pushed and pushed for me to buy the aftercare treatments. Wouldn't recommend it.
littlesteelo Posted April 11, 2012 #15 Share Posted April 11, 2012 While I would never do it on a cruise in a million years, on Independence there was a guy one night on the Royal Promenade having his teeth whitened. I think they gave it to him for free if he would basically sit there and have it done in front of everyone to advertise it.
sousak78 Posted April 11, 2012 #16 Share Posted April 11, 2012 I did it on when I was on Oasis (I know, I know, what was I thinking?!) I, thankfully, didn't experience any dental issues as a result, however, the results weren't remarkable. For me, it was just a waste of money and time. Use the money you'd spend on tooth whitening on a massage or a fabulous excursion instead ;)
Lindypops Posted April 11, 2012 #17 Share Posted April 11, 2012 I personally would not have it done anywhere but at my dentist. The beauticians on board are just that and have no dental training. I had mine done at the dentist it cost me £300 and I have about 5 appointments before during and after the treatment over about 6 weeks. I had not problems except a bit of sensitivity, during the treatment, which quickley cleared up. The results are brilliant and I am very satisfied. A word of warning though, whitening will only whiten your own natural teeth, if you have any visible fillings, veneers or caps etc they will not whiten. Save your money and have it done back home. CHAMPDDS Posted April 11, 2012 #18 Share Posted April 11, 2012 Terrible idea....Trust me....:D There is a reason those non-dentist operated whitening boutiques are illegal...(at least here in my state)....
