plt2087 Posted October 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2012 i prefer carnival lines as my favorite ship, as i have been on 25 cruises, and probably half of them have been on carnival lines, but it has been ten years since i have been on a cruise. didn't wear speedos then, but after many injuries from hockey, my sports medicine doctor suggested i swim for recovery and found out speedos are so much comfortable for swimming versus board shorts. i would like those of you that have been on cruise lines with the most men wearing speedos on them if carnival or other ships to send me a message to which they are. thank you plt
Rick-cruiser Posted October 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2012 Try Atlantis.. You'll see the most men wearing speedos on them.
dorisis Posted October 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2012 Any of the european lines will have more men in Speedos. Maybe MSC or Costa would also.~Doris~
cruzeluver Posted October 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2012 While the European-based line swill probably have a higher population of speedo-wearers, I have seen them on every cruise we have taken on Celebrity, Royal, Norwegian and Carnival. cb at sea Posted October 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) There have been many on EVERY cruise I've taken! Most shouldn't be wearing them in public! The ship's pools are not condusive to swimming. They are small, shallow and crowded. The most you can hope for is a space to hop in and get wet. Swimming laps just isn't gonna happen! In that case, a regular pair of swim trunks might be just fine! Edited October 10, 2012 by cb at sea
mapsmith Posted October 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 10, 2012 Of course swimming in the pools on a ship will be next to impossible. The best I have found is Celebrity. But the pools will either be populated with kids, drunks, or Exercise Walkers. Swimming is easily accomplished at the beaches though. It is great to just get out beyond the surf and stroke, stroke, stroke.
calliopecruiser Posted October 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 10, 2012 doctor suggested i swim for recovery and found out speedos are so much comfortable for swimming versus board shorts. Those aren't the only two options.......You could also try standard swim trunks if you don't want to wear a Speedo. However, if you want to wear a Speedo, I don't think anyone will stop you ;)
Rare TracieABD Posted October 10, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 10, 2012 I saw the most speedos in Europe.
neverbeenhere Posted October 10, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 10, 2012 Rock the Speedo on any ship you want. Given your previous injuries, you might want to get one with the Red Cross on it.
boogs Posted October 10, 2012 #10 Share Posted October 10, 2012 There is a simple rule - the more out of shape the man, the more likely he is to be wearing a speedo. Use this simple rule as your guide and go enjoy your cruise. :D
rncruiser Posted October 10, 2012 #11 Share Posted October 10, 2012 Why not wear board trunks over a speedo. That way you can choose any cruise you want.
Rare Essiesmom Posted October 10, 2012 #12 Share Posted October 10, 2012 Sail from Brazil and you will be in the majority. Don't think they sell board shorts in Brazil. EM
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 10, 2012 #13 Share Posted October 10, 2012 Maybe a Costa European Cruise Ship. Keith
kitty9 Posted October 10, 2012 #14 Share Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) With the exception of Costa and MSC, lines that cater to Europeans more than North Americans, I've not seen many men wearing Speedos. Unlike CBatsea, in my 68 cruises, I could count on one hand the number of Speedo suits I've seen on each ship. SusanSmithJr Posted October 10, 2012 #16 Share Posted October 10, 2012 So basicly, for speedos it's either gay cruising with Atlantis, or Italian crusing with Costa.
OCruisers Posted October 10, 2012 #17 Share Posted October 10, 2012 The ship's pools are not condusive to swimming. They are small, shallow and crowded. The most you can hope for is a space to hop in and get wet. Swimming laps just isn't gonna happen! This is sooo true the majority of the time. Some cruise lines have the resistance lap pool thing. It's unlikely your find a place on Carnival ships (which you mentioned liking best) to actually swim. ~~~~~~~~

CapeCodCruiser Posted October 11, 2012 #19 Share Posted October 11, 2012 Rock that Speedo on any line you want! I will say - the Carnival of today is nothing like the Carnival of 10 yrs ago - do some research to make sure it will still be your line of choice. Putterdude Posted October 11, 2012 #20 Share Posted October 11, 2012 I would suggest that with any cruise originating in Europe you are going to see more Speedos. While you will see them on cruises originating in North America, they are are far less prevalent.

dsrdsrdsr Posted October 11, 2012 #23 Share Posted October 11, 2012 P&O adult-only ships leave the pools open all night. Plenty of room for laps then. Or cruise to Norway - the pools are heated, but less busy than further south.
navybankerteacher Posted October 11, 2012 #24 Share Posted October 11, 2012 If you want to wear a Speedo to make a "fashion statement" (as too many men do who fail to consider their cruisemates' sightlines) go ahead. If, as implied, there is a physical requirement for it as some sort of support -- then treat it that way - wear it as underwear and wear a regular bathing suit over it. I may be in the minority, but I believe the world (and cruise ships in particular) would be more attractive if people (both men and women)thought twice before showing too much of what is better left to the imagination. Just as I avoid short booze cruises during Spring break for aesthetic reasons, I am inclined to avoid lines where Speedos, string bikinis, etc. are likely to dominate the landscape. mrsd912 Posted October 13, 2012 #25 Share Posted October 13, 2012 (edited) I saw three guys in speedos on the Carnival Liberty last month. I was very glad I caught a glimpse of these fellas! I lucked out because they really did rock the speedo!:p Edited October 13, 2012 by mrsd912
