Here's one of mine.

Has everyone noticed that pepper shakers in the MDR have been replaced by small pepper mills ? Do they now expect us to grind our own pepper ? Just another sign of the decline of service.

You think that's bad, recently on a Caribbean cruise my chocolate was on the night stand instead of the pillow.

I immediately called housekeeping and my attendant said he did it because I had raised the cabin temperature and he was afraid it would melt on my pillow.

How weak is that ? Why not chill the chocolate properly ?

Of course there have been many cutbacks over the years. Celebrity cruises used to be more expensive and you got more stuff. As the competition picked up, they cut prices to keep business. It's a trade off. Celebrity is just trying to be competitive. I am elite. I like most things on Celebrity. However, there are many things that I miss : being escorted to my cabin when I checked in, white glove table service, trays with white linen liners, not carrying my own tray in the buffet, escargot, anchovies at the buffet, thick towels, little bottles of Denny shampoo and conditioner, personal hand written invitations to Captains Club events, a birthday cake, towel animals, cabin being made up while I went to breakfast, in spa therapy pool, inexpensive drinks, etc. I also miss playing the game trying to find " Mr. or Mrs.--------(ship name)" I once found Mr. Zenith. I got a bottle of wine. The real prize was meeting and talking to all the people. It was fun. All of the above were nice, but not essential to having a good cruise. Celebrity still has great food. The ships are beautiful. It is not luxurious. It's fine for most people. If you are upset with the cutbacks and miss the special service, then perhaps you should try Azamara. It is more like what Celebrity was about 20 years ago. It is more expensive, has more luxury items, and is very nice.

Huh? I always thought that freshly ground pepper was a step up from a common pepper shaker. And how in the world would this equate to a decline in service? Did you require your waiter to sprinkle the pepper from the shaker for you in the past? I don't get what this complaint is about!:confused::confused:

Huh? I always thought that freshly ground pepper was a step up from a salt shaker. And how in the world would this equate to a decline in service? Did you require your waiter to shake the pepper out for you in the past? I don't get what the complaint is about!:confused::confused:

Oh Dear ...... it's spreading!!;)

No, I demand freshly ground pepper. I just don't expect to have to do it myself after a hard day at the beach or lifting numerous martini glasses ,tiring my wrists. I want to have my waiter or assistant haul one of those six foot mills to my table and do his job.

I hear ya! I now have to brush my own teeth and wipe my own behind. What next? Cutting our own food in the MDR? Civilization is on a rapidly downward spiral, and this pepper mill debacle is proof positive! Rise up all ye passengers and demand our pepper shakers to shake!!

I recently heard that the Rum Raisin ice cream will now only have 1 raisin. Apparently there is a shortage of raisins worldwide, and Celebrity is rationing.

I can live with that, times are hard, just as long as they don't cut down on the rum.

And horror of horrors, last cuise the cherry vanilla had no cherries, only vanilla.

I want to stay up late drinking and still make afternoon events. Can I get my steward to take my nap for me?

You had to open your own door ?

Probably taking a nap for mferranti.

That is not funny!! Our vitamin supplements and energy booster were seriously diminished when they cut back from wall to wall plumped raisins and rum streaks on Zenith to that one raisin and whiff of rum on Constellation. We have been unable to gain weight since that cutback.

And horror of horrors. This had been pet peeve of mine for some time. I am so sick of having to brush my crumbs aside myself in MDR. RCL used to have a waiter that specifically was assigned with his little broom and dustpan to keep my table top swept clean at all times. I just don't know how much longer I can tolerate this level of insanity!
