Why Do You Choose to Cruise??????

I like cruising but love land vacations. I think cruising is the absolute worse way to get introduced to any country. Cruising for me is about dressing up, 14 gowns/cocktail dresses on a 7 night cruise. I also enjoy the food and at one point the formality, along with being on the ocean.

Cruising is all about relaxing. Whatever feels relaxing at that moment, laying by the pool with a book while dh is in the casino, playing a game of travel scrabble with a beautiful ocean view, taking a wine tasting class, or napping to the rocking if the ship. And let's not forget the food, or the fact that I don't have to cook it or clean up after. Even the planning of the cruise is relaxing. Taking the months of waiting for the cruise to come to plan excursions, plan outfits, read cruise critic for tips, and meet new friends on the roll calls.

I choose to cruise because it's one of the few socially acceptable vacation options for solos. Nearly all others are strongly couple- and group-oriented. Organizing a group trip with my friends is like herding cats (with all due respect), and my relatives don't like to cruise. So solo cruising it was. Despite my initial hesitation to do it, after a bad experience as a quasi-solo at an all-inclusive (long story), I had the best time. I had no trouble meeting people, there was always something to do, and lonely moments were very rare.

I fly and stay at hotels for a living. The last thing I want to do on vacation is fly and stay at hotels! :o

Interesting. If you don't mind me asking what do you do for a living Tapj?

I like that it is pretty cheap and that everything is included in one price. But I absolutely love being able to look all around me and not see land. Can't do that on any other vacation!

I just love everything about it. The beautiful ride on the water. Breathtaking views along the way and in port. I love going multiple places all in one trip. The option to do as much or as little as you want while on board. The food, the drinks, meeting people who equally enjoy the experience. The price drops, lol.:p:p

I love planning it too. I only dislike leaving. I admit I tear up during every farewell song in the MDR (what a sap I know).:(

Love your response and is almost exactly the same reasons I have. We live that our kids love Camp Carnival - they get to have a wonderful time and we get alone time too - PLUS we can be all together as well! Best of both worlds.

For us.. it is the perfect family vacation.

We can have family time together.

We can do our own thing.

We can have someone watch our kids.... a place the kids a thrilled to go to.

We can have flexibility in dining choices. We have been known to have one person get pizza, another deli, another buffet, another burger and another fish and chips and all meet for lunch!

We have someone spoil us all week by making our bed and cleaning our bathroom.

But mostly... there is NO wrong answer on a cruise. You can do everything or nothing at all. It is about choice, relaxation and value.

Reminds me of our Honeymoon. Plus it's easier to plan: get to port, get on ship, get back to port, get home. Heck we don't even have to plan excursions until we're onboard if we don't want to. And there's nothing like being out in the ocean away from work, life and drama.

We like that once we are on the ship we can just kick back, relax and do as we please! Not to mention that the room, transportation and all the food we could want are included. The ports and getting to experience a taste of other countries is also fun.

As others have mentioned, I thoroughly enjoy being where I can't be aggravated by everybody!:D

Why do you cruise?

I feel safe being on the Ship.....

Because, most of my Cruises are Solo.....

I Love being on the Ship..........

I have 36 Cruises with Carnival...

When I am on the Ship I just relax..........

I enjoy watching the other Cruisers rushing around

trying to get to the Shows,,or find their Dining Room..ECT::::::::::::

I've been there done that....So I don't rush anymore.....

That's why I do BTBs or BTBTBs...........LOL..........:)

I also like sitting out on the open decks looking

at the ocean & clouds............. :)

I enjoy the food...........:)

I like chatting with other Cruisers.......

A Cruise is a Great Vacation...............:)

I agree with all of the above posters! I love unpacking once and waking up someplace new every morning, no housework, love being pampered, I can do as much or as little as I want, the food is great and I get to try things I've never dared to before (love the Didja menu) it's just the perfect vacation for us and living in Florida makes it an easy inexpensive vacation with lots of ports a short drive away ~ I've spend a weekend at Disney World that cost more than some 7 day cruises...can't beat it!!

I agree with this completely. And no one looks at you like you're crazy when you strike up a conversation with strangers! Somehow it's more socially acceptable on a ship, and easier to make friends.

I also love all the activities on a ship. I'm one of those weird ones that love trivia, dance classes, games, etc. Evening activities are all included, making life much easier. And when I do travel with DH (he doesn't like vacations as much as I do!), neither of us has to be the designated driver at dinner!

I'm sure we all love cruising here, but what is it about cruising that makes you choose this method of travel/vacation over all others?

Why do you cruise? (Not only with Carnival but other lines as well.)

I cruise because it is an easy way to visit a variety of places while only unpacking once.

I also cruise because I love being waited on.

I love sitting with a book to read, looking out at ocean, and knowing there are no chores I should be doing.

There are activities and entertainment included.

Good question with great answers. I cruise because cruising is the best bang for my buck. We spend a day driving to the port, relax have dinner, make sure that we have everything we will need for the length of the cruise. Buy the last minute things, and then board. I may have to stand in line for a drink or the buffet, but that is all the work that I have to do for a week.:)

I have a view no matter where I sit, people, places, the sea, the sun, the moon, the stars.....I dont have to drive to the beach, or a restaurant for dinner. When my DH suggests renting a condo for the week, it means we have to clean, we have to cook, we have to do laundry (which I may or may not do on a cruise) It's like being at home with a different driveway.

I try to spoil my DH, he tries to spoil me, but on a cruise, we both get spoiled.:)

Where else would I have the opportunity to watch 4 different just released (almost just) movies. Find enough friends to play trivia with 5 times a day?

My DH loves sea days to relax, I find so much to do on a ship that I rarely relax, but we are both happy on a cruise-if we are on land and I have that go go go feeling, and he doesn't want to go -then one of us is not happy, but on a ship, if he doesn't want to play trivia, watch a movie, drink coffee on the lido, he doesnt' have to. If he wants to go gamble, and I dont want to, then he goes and gambles and knows I am not sitting around bored. I am off doing my own thing. It works well for us.

And I have been to Nassau, HMC, Belize, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Roatan-Honduras, and I am going to Progreso, Little Stirrup Cay, Aruba, Grand Turk, Curacao-yup, you just cant beat cruising.

When I was younger I did a number of coach tours (bags out by 6 am, different city every night) and also rented cars to drive to the places I wanted to see. Now I love the idea of unpacking once and letting my floating hotel take me to the ports I want to see. Another plus is that someone else makes my bed, changes my towels, and fixes my food. Having the option of going to a show, taking a computer class, watching a demonstration, reading a book, or doing nothing also makes me happy. And, best of all, I love being on the sea.

To all those who have said that, on a cruise, you don't have to do anything you don't want to: that is for the most part true, but there is one thing you definitely have to do or you will be in deep doo-doo, and that is be back on ship after an excursion before sailing time, or else!

When we were young we travelled by car all over America and Europe as we aged we left the driving to others and did lots of touring by train, bus, etc. Now that we are really old cruising is about the only option left and we also do it for all the other reasons expressed here.

.

Value for money. :)

There's absolutely no way you can rent rooms in 4-star hotels

pay the airfare and see that many places in a week...

for what a cruise line charges.

Cruising is far and away the best vacation bang for your buck.

The whole pace of it forces you to sloowww dowwwnnn.

Cruising makes air travel look like the frantic, cattle-herding shambles it is.

We cruise because we like seeing different places, or revisiting old ones. The price of the "almost" all-inclusive cruise vacations can't be beat (IMHO), and you get to meet new people, and wake up in a different place.
