homeinboca Posted October 12, 2013 #53 Share Posted October 12, 2013 That might not have much of an effect, as Arison is gone. Arison is not gone, he's still a major shareholder and Chairman of the Board. He is no longer CEO, but still very active in the company.

partybarbie Posted October 12, 2013 #56 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Today princess offered to compensate me for the difference in prices, plus some extra OBC and a dinner at the Crown Grill. I thought that was fair, and accepted it so I can move on and enjoy the cruise! Ill keep researching the aft issues, some friends close to the rear are having soot in their ears! I don't know where the blood and hair came from but they cleaned it all up and I am fine with that! It's time to resume enjoying the cruise. Amelia I was just appalled to read of your unfortunate series of events, but relieved to hear of your compensation. I sincerely hope that the rest of your cruise is smooth sailing. Just an FYI, the last two cruises that I have been on (Crown and Star) have both had toilet issues. I don't know what caused the problems on the Star, but on the Crown we were told that a passenger flushed the contents of their fruit bowl down the toilet. I think there are a lot of passengers that don't realize how sensitive marine toilets really are, and this ends up causing problems for everyone.

NCLDreamer Posted October 12, 2013 #59 Share Posted October 12, 2013 From ibfern I need a balcony because I have chronic sinusitis which goes along with my chronic migraines. The dry air of an inside cabin is terrible for me, I always book balconies so I can leave to balcony door open and have fresh moist air. Although sympathetic to the OPs plight. Anyone who has cruised Princess knows that they much prefer if not insist that balcony doors remain closed as an open door for any length of time will wreak havoc with the environmental systems especially affecting those cabins within close proximity to the offending party or parties. Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted October 12, 2013 #60 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Truly a cruise from hell! Toilet problems and being moved to a stateroom with blood are NOT acceptable to me at all! I'd be horrified if they tried to put me in a room like that. Who knows what happened in there to cause it to become vacant and in such a wrecked state?! I'm SO relieved to read that Princess rectified the situation in a way you're satisfied with, and you can now focus on having fun again! Have a wonderful rest of the cruise! Amelia Amelia, I am just reading your thread and was appalled at what's happened to you. I am so glad you finally got some recognition of the problems and compensation. We were supposed to be on the cruise in C 740 but had to cancel due to my Mom's illness right before the cruise. I was so disappointed I couldn't go but between what I've read on the live thread and now your thread, it would have been a difficult cruise for me to be on. Pam, whose sister has mobility issues as does my Mom, said the Princess transfer from the airport to the hotel was almost impossible for her DS and the Princess reps were absolutely no help. My Mom couldn't have done it. I have a Riviera aft balcony booked for Sept. 10th '14 TA but now will see about changing it to a regular balcony or mini. Have a great rest of your cruise!! pablo222 Posted October 12, 2013 #64 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Off topic but why would someone do something like that?? Would they flush the fruit bowl contents down the toilet at home??? People do whatever they want when they are away from home. Lots of people here talk about sleeping with the balcony door open. Few people would heat or air condition their home, and then sleep with a door open. I have read here of people putting duct tape over the louvers on the cabin door. How many people would put duct tape on the own (inside) walls? However, I do often put the contents of the fruit bowl into the toilet. I do this by eating the fruit.

whataboutport Posted October 13, 2013 #68 Share Posted October 13, 2013 How much blood and hair??! Actually that doesn't even matter, bc if it were me and I SAW blood all over the cabin I was supposed to be staying in , there would be no way I would be able to sleep! Where was the blood? On the carpet, in the bathroom, on the bed, what? that is so utterly disgusting!!
ibfern Posted October 13, 2013 Author #69 Share Posted October 13, 2013 Where was the hair and blood located? There was hair and red stuff on the desktop, the bathroom counter tops, the walls, and a lot on the floor. Looked like blood to me, can't say for sure but they did send the hazmat team to clean so they obviously thought the same! My aft balcony was covered in soot, room steward said she spent much of her time scrubbing all the rear balconies, and my fried Bob said he has black particles in his ears when he cleans them with a q tip! He is all the way back but on the side, not rear facing. I brought my doctor friend into the cabin and he was appalled at the gaseous smell, there is definitely problems back there, although friends on the dolphin deck toward the corner are not smelling it. I think they get fooled by the powerful suction when flushing and think that anything that is small enough to pass down the drain pipe can be flushed. Iamcruzin Posted October 13, 2013 #73 Share Posted October 13, 2013 Reading the above, the classic NY Post headline popped up in my mind...... HEADLESS BODY FOUND IN TOPLESS BAR :D Classic CC reviews and posts come to mind for me, "The carpets were stained and the drapes smelled like smoke". I must admit that this is quite a surprise to be reading about on a new ship that hasn't even sailed all of her maiden voyages yet. I wonder if there are any tiles missing around the pool?;) I guess we will have to wait for the "Live from the maiden Caribbean sailing thread the find out about that.:D

He is all the way back but on the side, not rear facing. Great! Pay top dollar to come home with black ear and possibly black lung! I think I would rather take my chances with the second hand smoke in the casino. At least I know what hand I'm being dealt there....pun intended.
partybarbie Posted October 13, 2013 #75 Share Posted October 13, 2013 Off topic but why would someone do something like that?? Would they flush the fruit bowl contents down the toilet at home??? I have no idea. It flooded half of Emerald deck. Luckily for us, we were on Baja.;) I wouldn't have believed it, but a passenger at the IC showed me the pictures of the hallway and her stateroom. It took about 4 or 5 days to get it cleaned up and there was hazmat tape blocking the hallways so that you couldn't go down them. The Crown wasn't full, so some people were moved from their balcony staterooms to inside cabins on another deck, until the toilets could be fixed. It was a mess to say the least. I don't even flush Kleenex down the toilet anymore, only toilet paper and what comes out the day after eating the fruit.;)
