sjde Posted October 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2013 First time on Oceania and I'm starting to pack. Will we see women in dresses at dinner or is it mostly pants that aren't denim, like dress slacks and corduroys?
ChatKat in Ca. Posted October 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2013 You will see slacks, skirts, sheath dresses. Just like any nice restaurant. I just finished packing for my upcoming cruise and brought some slacks and shells with matching blouses, a skirt with a couple sweater options. It can get chilly so don't forget a wrap/sweater. Rare LHT28 Posted October 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2013 Did not see any cords but I agree with CHATKAT on the rest I take a cardigan for the dining venues ...sometimes you need it sometimes you do not :) Enjoy the cruise Lyn
CintiPam Posted October 25, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2013 I never have seen corduroys at dinner on an Oceania cruise, or even on the far less dressy Azamara cruises. I too always bring a sweater or pashmina with me to dinner because the temperature varies depending on where you are seated.
sjde Posted October 25, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Would you see capris on the summer cruises?

Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 25, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2013 I've got some beautiful cords that I will be bringing and wearing on the ship. Not sure I'll be wearing them for dinner, but I might.

Lola911 Posted October 25, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Does anyone still wear....corduroy!!!!!! Sorry!!!!! For those of us who live in a change of seasons environment...yes we do wear cords during fall and winter. Our stores are full of various colors for women i.e. Talbot's. Due to mostly sunny cruise ports my husband does leave his cords at home and wears dark khaki's in the evening with a button down sleeved shirt or collared shirt with a nice pullover sweater or colorful sweater vest. I stick to black evening slacks with various tops and Chico jackets and for more casual in the Terrace I might be wearing a nice capri outfit. We do not wear jeans in the evening out of respect for our fellow cruisers who have taken the time and effort to dress 'country club casual'. Rare RachelG Posted October 25, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Does anyone still wear....corduroy!!!!!! Sorry!!!!! Ralph Lauren makes some very stylish corduroy jeans. I wouldn't wear them to dinner in a fancy restaurant, but for some place casual, they are fine.
ChatKat in Ca. Posted October 25, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Corduroy is very fashionable again and just like denim may work for the wearer. Depends on the cut and wale if it will look good on the person, and what it is worn with.
NC&KY Posted October 25, 2013 #13 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Does anyone still wear....corduroy!!!!!! Sorry!!!!! WOW! You are definitely from southern California. Move to Kentucky one winter and then ponder if you should ask the same question. I hate jeans, so I wear khakis (or shorts) in the summer and cords in the winter. Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 25, 2013 #14 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Does anyone still wear....corduroy!!!!!! Sorry!!!!! Obviously from the replies, yes they do. Mine are fine-waled, made in Germany, great pants. I have three pairs, one is so worn out they are almost falling apart--I won't be wearing those, don't worry. ChatKat in Ca. Posted October 25, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 25, 2013 I am from So Cal. They are definitely worn here and are quite in fashion.
bornfreenowexpensive Posted October 26, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 26, 2013 Just bought DH some brand new Dockers in a lovely fine wale corduroy, nice, tapered, very smart looking. Probably too warm for our summer cruises, but good for our cool fall land trips.

jeffreys1 Posted October 27, 2013 #18 Share Posted October 27, 2013 I may be mistaken, but I think that wripro was making a joke repurposing the line "Does anyone still wear....a hat?" sung by Elaine Stritch in the Sondheim musical Company. At least that's how I read it.

caviargal Posted October 28, 2013 #20 Share Posted October 28, 2013 I wore dresses most nights on the Riviera and nice slacks and top on the other nights. Most guests were very nicely dressed, except at The Terrace which was quite casual. I live in FL but prefer cords to jeans for cold weather travel. Steven B Posted October 29, 2013 #22 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Trying to plan packing for canal cruise. Have gotten different takes on men's dinner attire. How many formal nights are there on itinerary and are men going to wear tuxedos? Would like to know what other gentlemen are planning.
Floridiana Posted October 29, 2013 #23 Share Posted October 29, 2013 No formal nights on Oceania's ships. You can leave the tuxedo at home.

Not only can or should you leave the tuxedo at home but you need not bring a jacket if you do not wish to. Nice shirts and slacks will fill the bill for every night. Only blazer if you wish! Nice slacks for dinner & collared shirt Blazer if you like ...no suits or ties required DH takes a blazer for the specialties but that is a personal choice ..not required Oceania is unlike other cruise lines
