Luggagetags?

Stupid question maybe, but how (or with what) do you attach the luggagetags to your luggage?

If you mean the luggage tags from the cruise line (with your cabin information on it), there are luggage tag holders you can buy (if you cruise frequently). Many people just use tape. Some people laminate them (so they won't run if it is rainy and makes them stronger) and then tape them or staple them together.

Cruise line tags that we get are similar to the airline tags they stick the ends together around the handle

I usually attach them before leaving the hotel to the port

Regular luggage tags I use zip ties for extra security to attach them to the handle

There are different types of tags.

Some lines send out ones that stick together. Nothing more to do.

Some send out ones that are on card board like paper with strings. Nothing more to do.

And some have you print them out yourself on paper. If this is the kind you are asking about you can buy plastic inserts.

Cruise Critic has in their on line store.

Or you can get a clear one from other companies such as Amazon.Com

This is one of several examples.

I go to the UPS or FEDEX store and have them laminate them back to back and then cut them to size. Then I use a zip tie to the suitcase handle. You can do this before you leave home. My wife is a flight attendant and flies every week and hers still look great a year later when we go on the next cruise. We keep them on so people ask us about taking a cruise. Great way to start talking to other about your last cruise:)

I order some luggage tags with the Cruise Critic logo on them. They work great!

Before I got them I would either laminate and use the zip tie or used heavy packing tape to cover them so they would be sturdy. After seeing the way luggage is handled no way would I risk just stapling paper tags to my bags!

When we cruised out of Jacksonville I saw a couple of tags that had already been ripped off blowing across the terminal lot. I always wondered how long it took them to get their bags that day.....:o

I like the CC luggage tag holders. They have worn well and we've had a number of uses from them.

All orders I have gotten from CC have processed very quickly and I've had prompt delivery. Seems to me I got the tag holders in less than a week.

I use the clear 3 inch packing tape and get them all ready to go while at home pre cruise. I put them inside the luggage of each bag just before I zip it up along with a print out of my ships itinerary and pre- cruise hotelinformation. That way if the luggage gets misplaced it gives me the best chance of getting my luggage either before I cruise or at one of my ports. Before we leave for the port I staple or tape it to the luggage handles.

After covering the folded luggage tag with clear packing tape, I then punch a hole in each end.

I then attach the tag to the suitcase with a small locking wire tie. I do this because a stapled tag that is pulled on can separate from the suit case.

The tag is attached just before turning the luggage over to the luggage handlers at the port.
