Clothing Optional Charter coming to the Celebrity Constellation

I'm pretty sure that Celebrity has had ships chartered out for these type of special interest cruises plenty of times...

Don't see what the big deal is, people pay a premium for an experience that they enjoy, & the cruise line takes in more money than they would on a standard cruise... seems like a win win. :)

I'm not a germophobe by any stretch of the imagination, but I do think some kind of covering should be required in food service areas regardless of the kind of cruise it is. I'm thinking specifically of the buffet...I don't like it on a clothing required cruise when people don't cover up properly before they start selecting food, so I seriously doubt I'd be too excited to see completely naked bodies in the serving line!

Makes you wonder what they use to hit those slot machine buttons with--don't want to even picture it.

What's the big deal? There's a swingers/kink cruise on Century in a few months, too.

If it's not your thing, no need to book it.

You have a point but where does one find out if there is a group booked on your cruise? If you book online there is nothing posted to advise you of that.

Here they go again, in Feb 2015 there will a clothing optional charter on the Connie. First the Nieuw Amsterdam now the Connie. When will it end!:D

Is this a full charter or will other regular passengers also be aboard?

jimdalva- I found it not tasteless- I could have written just the same. I find the whole nudiest idea- tasteless- and absolutly a no go on crusie ships or hotels for that matter - it may be okay at a special staked beach area. One can just hope they obey the " towel rule" - I really , really feel sorry for the staff members.

Just picture it ( or maybe better not) a formal night on a " usual gala evening on usual cruise" - can you see ( with your inner eye of course) all those nice dressed passengers, some even dressed up to nines. And- change of scene- picture all of them without any clothing??!!!! Oh dear call me old fashioned - but I can´t help it!

Interesting how many people are judgmental about those they know nothing about. Nude cruises and Lifestyle cruises are always full ship charters. We are required to wear clothing in all food areas. We are required to sit on towels when not wearing clothing. We can not be nude in port. The people working on the ship know ahead of time that there will be a charter, and what kind of charter it is.. they have the option to move to another ship or take that week off. However most don't want to because we tend to give very big tips!

You wonder what kind of people take these sort of cruises.. well in my group of friends there are doctors, lawyers, computer consultants, stay at home moms, yoga instructors, contractors, Hollywood movie folks (not porn), a professional athlete, a teacher, a musician, a firefighter, a nurse, etc. We come from all walks of life.. some of us make $35,000 a year, some of us make more than a few million a year. Almost all of my friends are parents, all well respected people in our community, all very normal people who just happen to be a little more "free" than others.

BTW, this profile isn't my normal profile.. I am a regular poster here on CC and in this forum. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Thank you for your comments. Folks become so immature anytime this type of cruise is mentioned. BTW, There is an excellent and informative review of a Lifestyle charter on the RCCL boards.

INCORRECT, The MDR is the one place everyone must be dressed. And many dress to the nines, Tux and all. But if its not your thing well to each their own.

Im sure some of the crew is unhappy to be there and keep to themselves so I don't notice them. However MANY enjoy us on their ship. We are a fun group, tip well and are less demanding ( a crew member told me this).

HAPPY SAILING

You're welcome.. I have read that review.. we were not on that ship, but friends of ours were.. He's a CEO of a major corp and she's a stay at home mom (Just regular folks).. They had the time of their lives! Which is why we decided to book the Century in May. We can not wait to party and have fun with everyone on board! Our favorite part is all the costume and dress up parties! So much fun, but I think I will need to buy more luggage! For a clothing optional cruise.. I sure have a lot of clothes! :D

I promise you that we are the best dressed people when it comes to dinner time! We take an enormous amount of pride in our appearances! We are trying to impress (attract) each other after-all..;)

The men will be dressed in suits and tuxes (or themed attire) the ladies in sexy dresses, or gowns.. We will all be made up, hair done, clean, smelling nice, etc... Imagine a Hollywood party and that is what you will find in the MDR on a swinger's cruise.

Both Penthouse suites are booked.. that's over $40,000 per suite for a 7 night cruise. In fact all the larger suites are booked and have been for months.

Biggest bonus... NO KIDS!!!!!!!!

Were on the Connie the cruise right after one of these cruises. In the words of Perry Grant "I don't know what was worse, getting on a crowded elevator or following someone up the stairs":eek::eek:

I think I would rather be on the elevator and not going up the stairs. Also, what about when they get up from a lounge chair. I usually put one leg over the side and then the other. With no clothes you would get an eye full. It wouldn't bother me one way or the other if it is a nudist cruise. My problem is I would probably be chuckling half the time. Not wanting to embarrass anyone or make them feel uncomfortable (they probably wouldn't be) I would be biting my tongue most of the time. Ouch!!

Funny, when you're around naked people all the time, no one notices. And no one cares. And we are not uncomfortable at all being naked.. because everyone else is too, and again, no one cares enough to notice if they happen to get an "eye full". But this would probably not be a good environment for someone who chuckles at seeing someone else naked.

BTW, when did nudity become such an oddity? Nearly all famous artists depicted nudity in their works, it was very common place in history.. we are such prudes these days! :p

I think you hit it on the head with your last one.;)

I think the main problem is seeing too many ends.

The porters will be upset by the lack of luggage tips. The crew will be happy because they don't have to load and unload luggage.

Cruise critic posters will be upset because they won't be able to criticize those who don't dress formal. ;)

Spot on!

I am a proud Naturist, and really scratch my head why we in the West are such prudes. From childhood, children are often taught that being naked is bad, we should be "modest" etc...well what is more modest than appearing as the Lord created us?!

The Western obsession with having a "perfect" body is making many totally insecure, shy and unwilling to accept seeing imperfections with themselves and others.

These are full charters, so not to worry.

This is good for both doing the "clothing optional" and those who might book and not knowing it is.

We are fine going to a "clothing optional" beach as long as they don't care if we were our bathing suits, we do not care if they don't. Same would be true for us on a cruise as well. To each his own! :)

You can not accidentally book this kind of cruise.. You have to go through either a nudist's travel agency or through a Lifestyle's travel agency. They are not open to the public to book.

The problem with nudist beaches or nudist cruises is that the participants only rarely have the kind of bodies one would actually want to see naked.

From a previous post in this thread, it sounds like the cruise ship workers have other options available to them for that particular cruise if they don't want to work in a nudist environment. I am glad for that.

I suppose it is good that designated nudist cruises like this exist so that they can all congregate together and so that I know which cruises to avoid. Definitely NOT my thing.

Just curious, but do they REALLY get that big of a premium ($40,000) for the PH on his charter? A 7 night on an M class PH is usually around 9-10k. S class 12-15 k.

I'm boked on an Atlantis Gay Charter next week on Summit, and they want 18k for the PH, which I've booked next January for $9.5k on the Summit as well.

Wait.. I think I made a mistake.. I thought the PH was a minumium 4 person.. now that I am looking deeper, I think it's a 2 person min.. It's $21,750.00 plus taxes, gratuities and admin fees.. Which is around $1,000

Here are the other prices for the 10th deck.

RS Royal Suite w/veranda$5,650 per person* plus taxes, gratuities and admin fees. $850

S2 Sky Suite w/veranda $$2,675.00 per person* plus taxes, gratuities and admin fees of $850

NS Century Suite w/veranda$2,475.00 per person* plus taxes, gratuities and admin fees$2,475.00 per person* plus taxes, gratuities and admin fees. $850

C2 Celebrity Concierge Class w/veranda $750

$1,525.00 per person* plus taxes, gratuities and admin fees

9A Interior Stateroom plus taxes, gratuities and admin fees $750

$875.00 per person* plus taxes, gratuities and admin fees. $750

Sorry about that mistake. I was thinking I was going to have to go find out who the heck would pay $40,000 for a 7 day cruise to Mexico. lol Though still might figure out who'd pay over $20,000 because even that's crazy to me. We are paying $3800 for our C2 cabin. And I think that's a lot to go to Cabo, Ensenada, and Puerto Vallarta. So let's hope the extra entertainment is worth the $$.

.

That is just a little bit judgmental.

A clothing optional cruise/beach/resort is about enjoying the sun on your skin and the wind on your skin, not looking at your neighbor. Many who frequent those places are real people, not the stick figures in the media these days. In other words, healthy.
